Iâm sorry, but I donât see it. Sure, Revali is obviously an airbender and Mipha a waterbender. No one is going to suggest otherwise. But you canât tell me Urbosa, who has mastered the ability to channel lighting, is the earthbender. That is squarely in the firebender camp.
Not to mention the fact that Darukâs Protection is all about neutral jing. It affords you the ability to sit and wait without fear of oncoming strikes. You could maybe argue there are fire benders among the Goron people, but Daruk is an earthbender, and probably able to lava bend.
I must say, though, with the Sheikah Slate, anyone can be, not just an Avatar, but a ridiculously powered one. Two different styles of âcombustionâ-bending with the remote bombs, freezing a block of ice in the middle of a waterfall without the block falling thanks to Cryonis, and limited metalbending with magnesis make for an Avatar capable of specialized bending some master benders would struggle with.
If Link is an Avatar, I would suggest he is not originally an air nomad. His gliding is very limited, and while he seems to use a little bit of airbending to move short distances during a Flurry Rush, overall he seems to struggle with that discipline, leading me to believe he is of Earth Kingdom lineage. Of course, that all goes away if you factor in the bullet time bounce glitch, which I donât.
edit: Iâve slept on it, and now Iâm even more convinced Linkâs lineage is earthbending for the same reason Daruk is. Think back to when Toph is first seen in the wrestling ring. Her movement is precise and very dependent on her opponent making their first strike. She sees it, with earthbending, and reacts with quick motions to attack the enemy who, from her perspective, is slowed down. Link has 2 different abilities that allow for this. The aforementioned Flurry Rush is only activated after a perfect dodge, where his timing allows him to see the world slowed down as he begins his assault. The other move is the perfect guard. Again, channeling neutral jing, Link waits for the perfect moment and is able to stun his enemy with a simple parry.
Also, to the point of Urbosa, and by extension the Gerudo, are fire nation, that would also lend to the idea that Ganondorf would have been a firebender, since he is a Gerudo. And which nation was it that attacks and put the world off balance?
