Nothing's gonna harm you
“Have I not forbid you to talk to others?!”
Deliah’s voice thundered through Lydia’s room and frightened the girl to death. Her mother was the scariest creature on earth when she was upset and Lydia had violated her most important rule: never trust other people and never, under no circumstances ever, reveal who you are.
Lydia sat in her bed, trying to pull away from Deliah’s tight grip around her wrist but her mother was too strong. “I didn’t mean to-“, Lydia began to whimper, half in pain, half in fear, but her mother wouldn’t let her finish:
“Don’t defy me again”
And then… she grew larger and larger, the room darkened and vanished into nothingness as Deliah turned into Yunai.
That was the moment Lydia was torn from her nightmare, gasping for breath while her entire body trembled, covered in sweat. With an unsteady hand she opened her holo display on her wrist watch to check the time: 3am. Shaking and unable to calm herself down she tapped on the ‘contacts’ icon with only had three people in it: Anroah, Haoran and Min.
Hao had been selected already since she had talked to him earlier that day about a book she’d been devouring and recommended to him. As always the conversation had been pretty one-sided since Lydia did all the talking while the boy had been listening patiently yet still enjoyed the girl’s ramblings. Haoran was her best friend and despite the clock time he surely would pick up if she tried to call him like he always did…
Lydia’s heavy breath just wouldn’t calm down on its own and the girl hesitated for a moment before she pressed the call-button. Surprisingly it only rang twice before her call was answered and with a thin, broken voice that indicated that she was on the verge of crying, Lydia asked:
“Sorry for calling you so suddenly, but… can I come over… Min?”
No, it's not a mistake at the end~ Lydia is calling Min instead of Haoran because deep down she knows that she needs him most at the moment and feels safe with him.
