So to those who have seen #FindingDory you can instantly recognize that even though this film is family friendly, it also carries a deep message of living with a mental illness. As someone who has chronic anxiety and experiences panic attacks, the amount of reliability to Dory is almost parallel, regardless of my memory actually being above average. The green ribbon is a symbol for mental illness awareness. Mental illnesses are called illnesses for a reason and whilst most may be invisible, they still exist and DO affect day to day life. Whilst I am an advocate for not letting my invisible illness control my life, I have come to accept that I do have this and recognize that it's okay, regardless of the mental attacks I face that make life seem absolutely hopeless. You just have to keep going; Keep moving forward. Just keep swimming.
