^ADHD^
Ah, this one should be fun. Alright, we already know how these posts start off. I’ve been accused of lying about my ADHD. “You are simply lazy and refuse to do what you are being asked to do.”
-What People THINK ADHD Is- ~Laziness ~Trouble focusing ~Fidgeting
-What ADHD Actually Is- ~Difficulty maintaining relationships ~Depression ~Inability to focus even if there are no distractions ~Poor sense of time ~Forgetting to eat, sleep, go to the bathroom ~Executive disfunction ~Trouble focusing on things even if they are of interest ~Hyperfocusing on unimportant things ~Poor impulse control ~Trouble regulating emotions ~Difficulty switching tasks or struggling to stick to one ~Forgetting thoughts .2 seconds after having them ~Auditory processing disorder ~Losing items relentlessly ~Fidgeting ~Excessive activity or restlessness ~Poor planning ~Trouble coping with stress
ADHD also includes- ~Mood disorders ~Anxiety disorders ~Learning disabilities ~Other psychiatric disabilities
To make this *even more interesting*, here are some complications linked to ADHD- ~Poor school or work performance ~Unemployment ~Financial problems ~Trouble with the law ~Alcohol or substance misuse ~Frequent accidents (such as car accidents) ~Unstable relationships ~Poor physical and mental health ~Poor self-image ~Suicide attempts
To remind you, the purpose of my blog is to spread awareness for mental illnesses and promote stable mental health. I have 1. Researched my facts and 2. The mental illnesses I have blogged about. If I do not have the mental illness, I will still spread awareness about it, but I cannot give an in-depth description for I have not experienced it myself.
I normally write about bipolar disorder, my experiences, and discuss mental health advocacy issues. However, I have decided to learn more ab
Sometimes you just don't know you have a mental illness.
10 years after my first symptoms I realized it was a mental illness. Before that, I thought I simply was a weird person.
And that's why we should teach kids in school about mental health too. It could save a child in so many ways in the future.

mental illness awareness week, 2020.
a diagnosis is not another bullet point on the list of things wrong with us. &a diagnosis is not a life sentence of badness or something to be ashamed of. a diagnosis is the first step towards a better life, a life that we deserve. it gives light to why we struggle with the things that we do. a diagnosis is hope, hope for the future, a future worth looking forward to.

Me & my page Mental Illness Support for the Open-Minded have partnered up with The Heart Project to help spread awareness of mental illness. Feel free to add your hearts & share the pics on the event page & your other social media! Invite your friends!
*****Raising Awareness for mental health and ALL mental illnesses/disorders.
On July 10th - 15th, join The Heart Project to spread and raise awareness for mental health and all mental illnesses/disorders. This is to show we are not ashamed, to let others know that they are not alone, and to fight stigma. And hopefully it will start a positive conversation about mental health.
During the project week, draw a heart or many hearts, using the official awareness colours of your illness(es), onto your wrist/arm/ankle/body-part. Each heart has a colour to represent your illness. You may use felt tips pens, washable markers, paint, nail varnish or photoshop them onto your photo. Take a picture of your hearts and upload them in the event, onto your profile and other social media, and/or on the pages that are holding the event (list of pages at the end of this description). Then hashtag it #TheHeartProject
If you don't have a mental health problem or mental illness but would like to show your support, please draw a red heart on your wrist/arm/ankle/body-part.
Please help us to spread the word by sharing our event posters. The more people involved, the greater the awareness.
