Long personal post: I firmly believe that dose doesn't matter. It's what you get from the trips--enjoying it, seeing cool things, or learning from it. With respect to that, I think higher doses have the potential to take you to different places and have more fun or profound experiences. Combining those two attitudes towards tripping leads to the best outcomes. In my opinion, if you have those attitudes, you don't need as high doses as someone who is uptight. Let yourself have a better time, be more comfortable, or have your mind naturally and freely move into a meditative state. Appreciating your intentions and dose choices for a trip as well as the outcome whatever it is shows the usefulness of reaching any psychedelic state, high or low. I have had two experiences where I left this world. On acid it was like I was dreaming for a few hours, incredible and life changing. But for a brief period on shrooms I did have an ego death. I hadn't thought of it like that until I spoke about it and said "I was gone, and the whole world was gone, and I woke up in a different humans body." Ego death chasing or trying so hard to break through isn't very cool and in line with being happy with any outcome. Sure, you could just take a high ass dose to guarantee a profound experience. (Forcing yourself into one usually increases the chance of it being uncomfortable or traumatizing.) And I totally wanna dose higher just to increase the odds. I really felt like I was just letting something happen to me which comes and goes as it pleases. It was so beautiful. I feel so unpressured that I open myself up to the possibility that I may never use a drug again. I am traumatized by my experience, and after I began integrating it got clearer and clearer that it wasn't so unusual. It was the most human feeling, questioning reality and life. Having everything broken down and lost, returning to it, and working out my feelings has left me better, even if in times of clarity my worldview has permanently changed. I'm so hype to experience anything in any dimension. Imagine getting stuck in the DMT waiting room with a Jester that's really just an incel dressed as the Joker. Psychedelics may show you disturbing visuals or ideas, they will pass 🙌 sometimes a lot of therapy or meds are needed but through the struggle you will come out more mentally strong than before. Psychedelics may make you feel special...separate from culture and society. You can never free yourself unless you go to an isolated part of the world I guess. You aren't special. Etizolam, Flualprazolam, among numerous other substances are being evaluated for schedule changes internationally. Those who are addicted, dependent, or at risk of withdrawal should plan out and procure a tapering (or replacement) schedule to avoid discomfort or death in the event that the substance becomes unavailable. Withdrawal aids, psychological support, and medical observation is suggested for safety. If you take drugs or meds that have severe withdrawal like benzos, try to keep enough to taper slowly and comfortably. The Ashton manual has resources for benzo tapering. I related this beautiful fable representative of bringing nothing from the physical world to the afterlife. Having peace with not keeping something. I take that into my own life in many ways, but I thought of this when going deeper into psychedelic states. I must be ok with not needing to share and take so much from those states/places. **by eyeballing I mean cutting tabs apart into a bunch of tiny pieces, or ripping shrooms apart into little chunks. My microdosing experiences with shrooms have been pleasant, I would tear off a very small bit from dried shrooms, and just chew it up thoroughly and swallow. That's all I was asking for, and I understood that I wasn't going to trip off that dose, I didn't need precision. If you have a 100ug tab, it's safe to safe if you cut it into 9 pieces you'll have about 11ug per piece. (which may be too much!!) Precision is a huge commitment. I always recommend getting a precise scale, especially if you want to weigh lines. I'm just not passionate about microdosing, tbh many times the place I was coming from was just wanting to trip, especially if I microdosed on weed just trying to push my high further up there. Well I can't find a clear answer that's in depth about why eyes dilate on drugs, but the best I have found is related to dopamine and adrenaline. Drugs may effect dopamine receptors, how dopamine works, or encourage release of dopamine. Dopamine indirectly acts on the adrenaline system. Adrenaline effects the "fight or flight" response, even if one is not in that state, there will be some physiological changes resembling that.
