I am a trans guy trapped in a deep red state, and I am scheduled for surgery that I’m having a hard time affording now, due to my dream career getting stomped out by the Trump administration. June update

Sorry for basically being gone all month. I've been working a lot of overtime at my job to help pay for surgery. I'm at work basically all the time, save for cooking or laundry or whatever other chore I need to do to keep myself in working order. I did some math and it looks like if I do a lot of overtime I can at least afford the first stage. Hopefully. It's still going to be tight, and there's still a whole nother stage afterwards.

I'm thankful my job allows me to do so much overtime, but I'm beat. I work at a hospital now and it's very stressful. I see a lot of people who are in very bad shape. Not everyone there is in bad shape though, some are there for scheduled surgeries, like I will be. I often imagine myself as a patient, finally being able to rest and recover, and finally being able to just cry it out after having to endure all the crap I've gone through to get here.

It's just a few months away...the government is still trying to throw everything it can at me to keep myself from this surgery I've dreamed of since I sprouted consciousness as an early teen. It's insane for me to think the government wants to shut down what at worst could just be seen as a cosmetic surgery. It's not cosmetic, the hope for this surgery is the only reason I'm still alive right now, but I would think at the very bare-bones level an opposition would see this as just cosmetic. But no, they have to go all the way and try to strip hospitals of funding if they so much as acknowledge the surgery. I can't even fathom how this has become the stance of the entire US government. Y'know, the nation that chants about freedom in it's constitution and culture.

I read about that funding regulations proposal put fourth by the OMB (collabed by a bunch of government agencies) these past few weeks, and it basically says that the government will refuse to fund anything or anyone that refuses to give into it's ideology of "sex is binary and white people are opressed and unrepresented". Not only is it the destruction of civil rights, but it's the destruction of science. Science is built on the very notion of challenging current beliefs, the whole point is to push boundaries to discover new things. Having politicians dictate what can and can't happen in scientific research will not nothing but stagnate human knowledge. But that's probably what they want...to hinder progress and control the body of knowledge into being only what they want people to believe. Anything to keep themselves in power.

I'll remind you that my dream career I spent my whole degree preparing for was to do research on gender dysphoria. This proposal seems like it's intentionally built to destroy my entire career specifically. I'm still not over the fact that I had to stifle my career because of all this trans panic bullshit. And as much as I'd like to say I will return to it once it's safe, I don't think it's going to be safe anytime soon. This administration and the states that have fallen for it will have an effect that will last for decades. This shit destroyed my whole life. At this point I'm just hoping and praying to have my surgery and keep my hospital job and just hope I can work on undoing all the trauma I've endured. That alone will keep me busy for a verrrrryyy long time.

Ayyyyeeeee my whole body hurts from my new job lol. But I am so glad to have a job now. My coworkers are nice so far and I'm so glad I can have something to tangibly work towards to afford my surgery. Sitting around all day throwing forms into the ether sucked ASS. So I don't really mind that my legs hurt so bad, I have SOMETHING to help me afford my surgery. And to help me just get out of my pit of despair for a while.

I will try to keep up with posting, but my hours so far have been so long that I've come home and gone straight to bed. And then I have chores and errands on weekends...uuuuuuuuuuuu

Drained water from places suffering from drought for absolute pennies.

Made African mothers dependent on their milk formula, which they gave for free, until their milk dried up. Then they required them to purchase it, mothers could not afford it, mixed in too little to fulfill nutrient needs, and mixed it with polluted water. Children died.

Used slavery to produce their cocoa.

Pushed for water to be considered a “want” not a “need” and is at the forefront of arguments that water is not a human right.

Poisoned Chinese infants with melamine in their milk formula.

Demanded Ethiopia pay a debt owed to Nestle, during a FAMINE.

Price-fixed food items.

Contributed to deforestation for their cocoa farming.

The worst thing is, Nestle owns TONS of other brands, making it difficult to avoid for certain products.

My new job is apparently much more physically active than I anticipated...I am so sore lol. I really hope this won't be a problem and that I can maintain my weight for surgery. I am NOT in a good position to lose weight right now. I need to make sure I am healthy enough for this surgery by the time it happens, because this is the only chance I'll get. I have a long road ahead of me...sigh lol

Hm, so I can finally be fully transitioned and happy with myself, undo all the damage done to my nervous system by the years of mental trauma, become a functional adult capable of doing any task I want without having a conniption about my body's abilities, go back to college or get a certificate in some rewarding healthcare job where I can help people live fuller and more meaningful lives, finally finish developing and writing the stories I've been forced to step away from due to the health and job and financial crises, use my education to get a well-paying job where I can give the excess income to people in need so I can complete the full circle? Bruh I know I live in a rural area with a lot of horses but I'm such an indoors person I rarely see them. I'll take this in a heartbeat!

I would've said the life I always wished for was being able to do research on gender dysphoria in hopes of finding a way to prevent the years of suferring I had to endure, but y'know, the whole overpoliticalization issue and death threats from strangers made that not my dream life anymore. So...I guess the next best thing is to give help directly?

I GOT A JOB! FINALLY

I finally got another job after being layed off my last one!! I had to be very persistent with showing up to a company's job fairs, and putting in several applications with them... It doesn't pay much, but it allows opportunity for growth and a pay raise, and flexibility in hours that will hopefully be great for allowing the time off from surgery.

And you know what? I have also found out that the place I volunteer with sometimes also wants to compensate me for my work this summer. YAY! It's going to be TOUGH trying to balance these two jobs, but if I can do it, it will work wonders in helping me afford surgery! PLEASE LET THIS WORK AAAA I NEED THIS SO BAD AND I'VE BEEN TRYING SO LONG

If this works with getting some of the funding I need, I should be able to lower the amount needed on my Gofundme. That would be great!! I will still need help with funding, but I could maybe be able to get through stage 1 without getting myself into a horrible amount of debt. Stage 2 might still need a huge loan but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it lol. Given that's if my surgery is still able to go through with the current schedule, which is unfortunately still volatile due to the current conditions in the US.

I'm planning on some cool posts in the future, like posting some of my art and such as I know the tumblr crowd would like to see what I can do creatively, but we'll see how soon I'll be able to share that now that I'm going through the onboarding for these new jobs. Here's a hint: I'm working on redesigning some characters from an obscure TV show!

I once met an old lady who has had a crush on Aquaman since she was a child. She was crocheting a toy of him at her desk. It was the cutest thing. She seemed so happy with him. That was years ago and I still think about her a lot.

Now that the weather is finally starting to warm up where I am, I've been going outside sometimes to try and help my depression. It's very hit or miss. Sometimes I enjoy wandering around in a hiking trail or just some patch of greenery around my neighborhood. Seeing all the little arrangements of grass among dirt, or little leaves or flowers can spark the kind of curiosity that made me love biology in the first place. There's something so instincually tranquil about it.

But moving my body around in that space, having that awareness of the nature around me and trying to have an awareness of myself in it, something goes wrong. I still don't feel like a part of nature. And when I can't feel awareness of myself, suddenly it becomes harder to be aware of the things around me. The vibrant greens seem to become more desaturated and dull. I still see color, but it's not bright, so to speak. It's like I wear a lens that's filtered through colors that represent how I feel about myself.

I used to see all gray when I went outside. Things have gotten better since then, due to my medical transition, and I started to feel like I could see beauty again. But it's still not vibrant. I'm taking little steps to help, and it's a long process, but eventually I will see the world and me in it.
