bakugo katsuki hates the rain. in terms of his quirk, it absolutely limits his skills to its full potential. in terms of personal baggage, it wholly strips him down to the most vulnerable parts of what he hides behind his usual front.
for most observations, those were the only information they could conclude to why bakugo hates the rain. unbeknownst to most is that there’s more to where the naked eyes can’t perceive.
“it’s been so long since we’ve seen the sun. when will the rain go?”
but bakugo katsuki also hates the rain because you absolutely despise it.
it’s nothing cliche, nothing romantic, just something of some sort of feeling that quietly creeps in whenever. it’s not just about how you could get sick because of it, or how you get too overstimulated when a splash of dirty puddle touches the back of your leg. through his keen, observing eyes, alongside the turn of the weather, there is also a shift in your mood that turns him sour as well.
“I haven’t been feeling too good these days because of it. it’s been getting too shitty and the weather looks like it’s not gonna improve anytime soon.”
every time the clouds darken and the winds accelerate, he notices it every single time. the lack of energy to get out off bed, the constant staring out the window, the frown that never seems to leave, and the need of comfort just because. it’s almost like a sickness, he thinks.
“well you just have to suck it up.”
“I’ve been doing that for weeks! how long am I supposed to suck this up?!”
it’s always a complain whenever you open your mouth ever since the rainy season started. it’s always sadness and frustration that he’s almost sure you’ve got something in your head.
“… I thought you hate the rain?”
“no one could hate the rain as much as you, dumbass.”
“true.”
it’s almost irritating, this stupid depression you get over a water cycle when you could just be yourself. be the same girl that basks in the sun and smile about it hits perfectly on a random late afternoon.
“why do you even hate it so damn much? the fuck did the rain do to you?”
“ruin my mood?”
“that’s it?”
“the way you’re invalidating me right now.”
“I’m fucking not.”
“whatever.”
he can’t help but to rolls his eyes while you cross your arms and distance yourself out of annoyance. still, katsuki tips the umbrella over to your side and immediately feels the rain soak his shoulder.
“seriously, this is some depression shit at this point. what the fuck did you go through to hate it so much?”
you’re aware of it, of how katsuki seems to stay close whenever this season rolls in, how it takes his whole strength to not just pin you to the ground and beat you back to your usual self.
there isn’t a proper or serious explanation to why you feel like this. it’s maybe just everything that was kept away but got washed up to the shore by the rain. it’s maybe how gray and dull the world looks and how cold it’s gotten.
it’s the lost of the warmth and the orange and yellow of the sun.
it’s the lost of orange and yellow.
“I don’t know.”
you look up to him, subtly noticing the wet stain on his shoulder. he looks back down at you, his gaze swallowing the way his hoodie engulfs you in your denim shorts.
“I really just miss the sun.”
