Updated intro post

You can call me Magpie or Mags (or your goblin majesty. like if you really want to). My pronouns are she/her, 20s-ish, from the UK

My main interest is Marvel Comics, I do post mostly X-Men stuff but I read pretty widely (Thor, Scarlet Witch, Alpha Flight etc). I have a lot of characters that I like- Madelyne Pryor is a particular favourite, as you might be able to guess

My other interests include Classics and and Greco-Roman mythology (which is what I study), Star Wars (not an expert tho), D&D and history in general. I’m not really into MCU stuff anymore but I was when I was younger so I might reblog the occasional something for nostalgia purposes.

I also write and draw! I post art here occasionally but I currently don’t post my writing- I will however complain loudly about how difficult it is! All my art is tagged as #maggie does art

i can understand changing elements of a story for an adaption (and im a big advocate for this! no adaptation can or should ever strive to be completely faithful to its source material) however. cutting the nobody part from the odyssey is a huge indicator that you have fundamentally misunderstood odysseus as a character i fear

2. Lil is the big spoon by virtue of being over six feet tall. She and Heather don't cuddle a lot, due to past relationship issues, but Heather loves it when their laying in bed and Lil wraps her arms around her.

13. Heather, she's not great with most types of physical affection, but little hand squeezes. Rubbing her thumb against Lil's knuckles. Just holding her hand in hers... it's the easiest thing in the world.

25. I think Lil's gotten over her past relationships trauma with Madison (probably by throwing darts at a photo with him). However Heather's still working through her issues with Mac.

Although things are better she's still dealing with the aftermath of being in a decades long abusive relationship, so it's going to take time for her to heal.

She sends Lil her location. Is often the one to make dinner and handles most of the household chores. She manages the household finances.

Lil often sends Heather her location back. Tries to help her with dishes. Gets groceries on her own.

At one point Lil spending out of budget and Heather gets upset and shows Lil the sheet she made and Lil points out that Heather didn't include the money she made in her sums.

Lil: You know I have a job, right?

Heather needs reassurance that Lil isn't Mac, that she's not making Heather do everything alone and that this relationship is a partnership. Something that takes Heather awhile to accept.

In light of the Odyssey movie coming out this is my formal PSA that Helen of Troy is actually Helen of Sparta, Troy is the city she was stolen and brought to. The entire Trojan war is the Greeks trying to get her back from Troy, because she is from Sparta. I feel like we all collectively forget this.

nolan’s odyssey is such a textbook study on the idiocy and dangers of presentism. yes of course penelope is a modern day feminist who wants to rule ithaca by herself. they make telemachus say that GREECE IS THE GREATEST CIVILIZATION IN THE WORLD as if the entire point of the massing of achaeans at troy for one unified cause isn’t spectacular precisely because THERE IS NO CONCEPT OF A UNIFIED GREECE NATIONS DO NOT EXISTTTTTT YETTTTT. literally 101 on historical writing is making sure that you’re avoiding strict periodization because the people living in a “period” will not identify themselves that way. ever. five million cheeky nods to “the sea peoples” but we’re being cute and coy and calling them “the people from the sea.” the obsession with xenia but refusal to call it xenia yes let’s say “zeus’s law” a hundred times and reduce it to the literal expectation that any stranger could be a god in disguise. how was penelope just hanging out in the main hall of the palace with her husband’s dinner guests while they were playing with weapons with her HAIR COMPLETELY DOWN no veil no nothing just chilling casually. comical. stoppppp making movies that engage in historical viewpoints if you’re going to slather a modernized coat of paint over the top. “the past is a foreign country, they do things differently there.” or fucking whatever.

The fact that it was toss up between weather Thunderbird or Wolverine should be killed of leads me to imagine a world where Thunderbird has the same kind of overexposure as wolverine but then I had to stop my self I kept imagining him getting really angsty movie about him as a old man dealing with a clone Duaghter and a conspiracy but the movie is just called “John”.

Of course I still think it would a very interesting idea to explore. A world where Wolverine is only ever remembered as the first X-Man to die (even though he isn’t because everyone forgets Changeling) but Thunderbird is all over the place massive media presence multiplied spin offs three solo movies main character in all the X-Men movies. I think that would be a better universe.

I think Rahne would take Dani's last name tbh. Airlie i think is a good compromise - i think Dani would want to honor her grandfather in her kid's name, and Rahne would want her kid to have a connection to her Scottish roots, and so Airlie feels like the best of both worlds.

I know you have star signs for the twins, but what do you think Kyle’s star sign would be?

I don't know much about star signs to be honest. I only headcanon the twins as Saggatsrius because I headcanon them as being born in early December. As for Kyle I headcanoned him as being born in late November, which either make him a Scorpio or a Saggatsrius (depending on how late in November we're talking).

Now Scorpio's are characterized as being resourceful, powerful, brave, passionate, and loyal.

Meanwhile Saggatsrius are generous, idealistic, and funny.

I don't think these personality traits sound too much like Kyle, maybe one or two fit him but not all of them put together.

I'd argue that Kyle could fit the Taurus star sign, which includes the personality traits of being Reliable, patient, practical, devoted, responsible, and stable. Though that would put his birthday in late April/May.
