Today i fucked up because i did not consider how my autism would work in a situation.
Sis and i got tix to see revenge of the sith in theaters in 4D.
I was diagnosed autistic last year and we have been working on unmasking to learn the full extent of my needs. Unfortunately unmasking does mean finding out what ive been just forcing myself to ignore.

That makes a difference because the tech then was NOTHING compared to this.
We got maybe 5 min into the film and I was so overwhelmed with the effects that i was uncontrollably sobbing. I could not do anything but try to figure out just what the hell i could do short of leaving the movie and my sis was prepared to do just that despite having spent $50 on tix $20 on concessions and drove a full hr to see this she was ready to walk out before dookus head even hit the floor.
I wanted to stay because despite this I really was excited to see the movie I just didnt know how.
Thankfully sis had a wood engraved token in her purse that I used to stimm for the rest of the movie. Idk if i would have made it through another action sequence had that happened.
I have learned that I am very much NOT a sensory seeking autistic and I most def require some sort of fidget to help manage myself safely. It sucks that part of this process right now is learning on the fly but I am super thankful to have a sibling who is being patient as hell with me and is learning with me.
Id def like to give 4d another try but maybe if there's a less action packed option. I was able to enjoy the remainder of the movie and the 4d effects particularly made the order 66 scenes hauntingly beautiful.
For now i guess we keep taking this whole thing one step at a time
People with low spoons, someone just recommended this cookbook to me, so I thought I’d pass it on.
I always look at cookbooks for people who have no energy/time to do elaborate meal preparations, and roll my eyes. Like, you want me to stay on my feet for long enough to prepare 15 different ingredients from scratch, and use 5 different pots and pans, when I have chronic fatigue and no dishwasher?
These people seem to get it, though. It’s very simple in places. It’s basically the cookbook for people who think, ‘I’m really bored of those same five low-spoons meals I eat, but I can’t think of anything else to cook that won’t exhaust me’. And it’s free!

I'd like to remind everybody that this isn't just about A03 or civil rights organizations. This could be applied to any 501 organization. That includes churches, schools, museums and library support organizations. All sorts of support organizations like soup kitchens or places like goodwill. Those are all non-profit organizations and they all have a 501 status. This is a threat to every civil organization we have that is meant to help the public.
So please contact your representatives. Please look this up on Twitter and click the link so you can call your representatives and voice against this. Because there's a hell of a lot more at stake with a bill like this than just ao3. People's lives could be at risk.
The House will vote THIS WEEK to determine whether the incoming Trump administration will have the power to shut down non-profit organizations with no due process.
Congress has already tried to fast-track this legislation once and failed because of the onslaught of calls to their offices. We can’t let them do this quietly. Congress giving Trump the power to crush dissent and target organizations fighting for justice is a betrayal. Tell your representatives to vote NO on this dangerous bill!
This means that it's heading over to the Senate, where they'll tinker with it and vote again.
If it passes the Senate, it goes to the President, who has the option to veto.
Which means NOW you reach out to your Senators (both of them) and tell them that you want them to vote NO on this Trojan horse of awful.
But: we have two more chances to keep this from becoming law. The fight's not over yet.
And that's not even the good news!
For various reasons of political fuckery/ rules lawyering, this bill had to go through TWO rounds of votes in Congress to get through.
It didn't pass the first time because it had a higher threshold of votes to meet (2/3 Congress Critters had to vote yes) and it failed because it couldn't clear that bar.
So the people behind the bill sent it through AGAIN in a way that needed fewer votes to pass (only 1/2 of Congress Critters had to vote yes). This time it got through.
But along the way, almost 40 people changed their vote to "No". ALL BECAUSE OF YOUR OUTREACH.
That's huge.

This is my only safe space to vent as my other socials are watched by family who chose not to understand.
Four years ago when Biden won the election my right wing aunt did teo things, she bought a giant freezer and stock piled food because she read biden was going to close the grocery stores abd she wrote a letter to my mother for not just her but for my sister and i as well.
The letter told us we helped ruin america, we hate soldiers, and we slaughter babies. We were called all manor of awful and then this woman wants to pretend like its all ok between us.
As a queer person who is closeted around moms family for my safety i was angry. I have not let that go despite my mom saying "she was just upset"
Four years later i am terrified for myself and many i know and live and countless others i do not and my aunt texts my mother to ask if we are ok because our president lost. I told my mother that i think she knew the answer to that. I am far from ok. I have never felt so angry unsafe and unsure and my mother begins to try and tell me that her fear from 4 years ago is no different than mine now.
Suddenly IM the asshole. The person who has the absolute real possibility of being at risk of harm because the incoming power has already promised they want to hurt me and many others. I'm so damn tired of being told i have to cater to their delusions while the very real very horrifying possibility that my whole existence could be made illegal to even talk about is looming ahead of me. My small and it is small comfort is living in a blue state but with the shit show that's about to roll into town that may not even matter.
I will try to do what i can. I will persist however i need to and love and support those around me but as far as I'm concerned the "family" i have that voted for that monster are no family of mine.
I dont know whats gonna happen and i want to be wrong about my fears so badly but ive read this story before and i am not optimistic.
To the queer, trans, gay, bipoc,disabled,immigrant, women and any other communities who stand to be harmed by this regime we gotta have each other's backs because if we don't no one else will. Be kind but take no shit and do what you need to keep yourself and your loved ones safe.
