WHY DID THIS HAVE TO END
OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDD
this video changed my life
In 1930, Helene Adelaide Shelby patented an apparatus for obtaining criminal confessions. The police put the suspect into a darkened chamber where they are confronted by a human skeleton with glowing red eyes that questions them with a voice transmitted from the interrogator behind it, through a megaphone in its mouth. A camera concealed in the skull was to record the confessions

Right, as a POC I am saying that cultural appropriation is absolute bullshit and is an incredibly flawed concept. Participating in someone’s culture is not ‘stealing’ it. CULTURE IS AN ABSTRACT THING THAT CAN NOT BE STOLEN. I’ve visited mosques and other Islamic tourist attractions where women are offered hijab-type things before entering. Is that ‘stealing’? No. I lived in India for six years and have a Hindu family. And I can tell you, for a fact, that Selena Gomez putting on a bindi does not harm Hindu culture in any way. Her putting on a bindi does in no way harm the significance of the bindi for random Indians going about their daily lives. YOU CANNOT STEAL A CULTURE. How are you going to define what a culture is and what isn’t? Are you going to disallow Muslim Indians from wearing a sari because it stems from Hindu Indian culture? Are you going to disallow Hindu Indians from wearing salwar-kameez because it stems from Muslim Indian culture? Am I no longer allowed to attempt to make homemade jacket potatoes because of my Indian ethnicity? Can I no longer listen to three days grace because I’m not a true part of and do not fully appreciate goth culture? How does my celebrating of Christmas without caring about God or Jesus affect the Christmas of Christians that love Jesus and God? I’m an atheist. Am I not allowed to celebrate Durga Puja, Diwali and Holi with my Hindu parents because I don’t care about their God? Am I not allowed to have a quiff because that’s a normally white hairstyle? How does Miley Cyrus’s dreadlocks affect black people with or without dreadlocks? It’s not your hair, it’s not your job to care. Am I not allowed to wear a suit because that’s western culture? Since when does your ethnicity dictate your life like this? The whole idea of cultural appropriation makes no sense whatsoever, and simply segregates society based on skin colour and ethnicity. I’m wholeheartedly for gay rights, for feminism and against racism. But why are we making up problems when we should be dealing with actual racism?
This is everything.

Michael Whelan’s covers for H. Beam Piper’s “Little Fuzzy” series.
Recently, I was told the Little Fuzzy science fiction novels have had a resurgence of popularity among furry fandom. While I find furries… eccentric…it is always great to hear when something you love is discovered by a new audience.
