Hey, what’s Winnie the pooh’s favorite color?
Yellow
No it’s red because of his shirt
No, it’s yellow because he loves honey
You have no idea what you’re talking about
DID I FUCKING STUTTER?
Things heating up at the Winnie the Pooh fandom
Concept: fairy tale where the wicked step-parent (who is of course also some sort of warlock) transforms the princess into a swan, as one does, but rather than running off to mope around in a lake and be beautifully tragic, the princess decides to stick around the palace and cause problems on purpose.
It is a beautiful day in the palace, and you are a horrible swan princess.
In my defense, who turns somebody they want to get rid of into a swan, anyway?
Like. Swans are gigantic, territorial, feather-clad balls of muscle and hatred. Also, magic is expensive and complicated and makes you grow an ugly little goatee - although maybe that’s just my uncle. Why would you even bother? Like, poison is right there.
Of course, unfortunately, my uncle has always subscribed to the philosophy of ‘why be evil if you can’t be dramatic about it?’.

Yesterday a scientist told me about a couple of papers he published recently; one in Science (a very prestigious journal) and one in a much less well-known outlet. He was proud of both, but he really thought the Science work was groundbreaking. Yet he didn't get a single media call about it, whereas the other paper triggered a wave of media interest and he could hardly get any work done for a week with all the calls.
It struck me that this happens in every field of human endeavor. We can never predict how important or interesting our creations will be to other people, and so many factors beyond our ken and beyond our control factor into a work's popularity. In fandom I may I pour my heart into a piece of writing that never gets more than a handful of kudos, while a hastily-doodled comic becomes the most popular thing I've ever posted. And I'm truly proud of both! And sure, at times I let myself feel wistful about some creations not getting more attention. But I keep remembering--how lucky am I to get to create at all? How fortunate to exist, to have ideas, to write and draw the things I love?
Hey this is Amy here ,i have to ask why John didn't like other people helping him. Does sth happend to him before or he was just traumatized .
Hey Amy!!!
Oh, if I recall correctly, it's never been explicitly stated in BBC Sherlock; I think context clues point to him possibly being abused (at least emotionally) in his past, and possibly his low self esteem making him believe he isn't WORTH saving / helping. Context clues point to him always being the responsible one while his sister wasn't, which then followed him to his chosen career as both a doctor AND a soldier (both dedicated to "helping people" in the basest sense) and making rank of a captain AND being proclaimed as a "very good" doctor? Well, then, yeah, it's understandable why he feels he has to be able to handle things on his own.
And it's also how many of us read John's character, so I think that idea is also primarily fanon, but has a lot of good reason to exist as "fact".
I personally think it's a combination of all the above, plus his own trauma / PTSD from the war and losing a lot of people under his watch, so I think that he genuinely may have a bit of a saviour complex in that sense.
One of the things l love so much about BBC John is just how complex of a character he is, and how Martin portrays his character on screen. A LOT of those context clues I mentioned are STRICTLY by the way Martin portrays John, and quite frankly, it's brilliant.
Sorry I'm not much help other than this, Lovely!
I welcome some other thoughts if y'all have them! <3
amloveabledeathmo said: I agree that they don't really give an explanation in the show. I think part of it is that John isn't neurotypical. Very much headcanon on my part as an audhd person but it seems that most people agree that Sherlock is autistic. He is difficult for the "normal" people to be around, people don't understand the way his brain works, John however is immediately on board with Sherlock's way of processing information, he's complimentary to it even. John also is much happier when solving cases and doing things with Sherlock and to me seems to basically put on a mask when dealing with others. Also neurodivergent people tend to find each other and form friendships. When John is doing "normal" things he usually seems angry. He seems hyper aware of what is considered acceptable to others which does happen to neurodiverse people trying to fit into society. I do also get the feeling that at least one of his parents were abusive. That's just my two cents of thoughts.
chiefwinnernacho replied: I like this take of John being neurodivergent too. He seems like a straight laced, typical guy who worked very hard for his career and is of course dealing with a lot of grief and PTSD. And he may be baffled by Sherlocks behavior at time but it probably feels freeing too. Seeing this brilliant wacky man making his own way and ignoring a lot of society's rules and seeing how Sherlock derives joy from the puzzles, not the fame or thanks people give him. It was freeing for John in a way. He could let his guard down a bit.

OH!! I have NO idea why I never clocked that John could possibly be neurodivergent as well and is masking a LOT (as a fellow masker, LOL) but yeah, that makes a lot of sense: John only follows a lot of the social norms BECAUSE he was forced to growing up and then in the military, (whereas I think with Sherlock, his brand of brilliance was encouraged by his parents and brother), but yes, he's hyper-aware of societal norms and tries hard to conform to them (like his sexuality as well). AND I think he can use his PTSD as a cover for his reluctance to accept that he is possibly neurodivergent.
God I am always seeing new things about John in a new light and am so fascinated by him.
“do you think i can fit the whole thing in my mouth sherlock”
“j-oh…n…”
“i think i can but it’s going to be messy”
“skldjfhhhhh”
askdr-jwatson: Can you draw a picture of John eating a piece of toast w/ jam in front of Sherlock seductively?
“What’s with all the bandages?”
“I’m trying to stop you from bleeding out, as per usual.”
“Don’t seem to be doing that good of a job.”
“Well aware”
