but that also makes sonic a good counterpart to shadow bc he isn’t the type of hedgehog to be bothered by someone being cold to him, he’s persistent in his amicability and i feel like that’s something shadow needed.

i think about that one scene in heroes where rouge speaks about how even if your intentions are good, if you are extremely powerful you will be viewed as a threat and therefore become something they are opposed to.  I feel sad about shadow alot, he is cold and aloof and i think that comes down to having lost the only person he had cared about. he holds alot of self loathing and for that reason has given himself the purpose of protecting the earth and the earth’s people even if they come to hate him. he doesn’t care about rewards, he doesn’t care about things that could be good for him he just cares about maria’s memory and preserving the humans that she cared about. let him have friends who bother him until he does things he enjoys or finds things he enjoy, the saddest thing is knowing that maria never would have wanted shadow to become a weapon like he did, or to putting himself through hell and back to make sure people who don’t see him as something good are safe ???? idk i feel like she would have wanted him to be happy.
