Charm School AU Dunk is gonna do so well at the Charming aspect of it, completely by accident.
Does he have the etiquette? No. Does he he charm everyone he meets accidentality? Of course.
I like to think this extends to all the magical animals which is how a baby unicorn decides it wants to live in Dunk and Raymun's dorm.
YOU ARE SO RIGHT!!! Sweetfoot is gonna be a fully grown unicorn who keeps putting her head through Dunk and Raymuns window to get apples and head scritches. After a certain point the two will stop locking the window because she'll unicorn magic it anyway.
Context For Au: {Part 1} General TLDR: Dunk won a raffle to attend Royal Charm School, a university esc school made for the various royals of the continent of Westeros and Essos to meet, connect, and get a degree if they so choose. All ships (except Cuck Aerion) are open as this is basically a dating sim AU.
After Dunk's first day of getting a lay of the land he is immediately thrust into classes. Previously Dunk was an education major and taking a few animal science classes, the first because he wants to be a history teacher, the second to further help Arlan and his farm. Unfortunately, in a school full of royal people are are attending mostly to socialize, neither are the most popular degrees. In fact the head of the education degree is Headmaster Baelor himself and he is rather happy to have a student there for a teaching degree and not attending classes to try and get closer to him. While there aren't any animal science classes, Maekar basically tells him that if he wants to frolic with the horses like the farm boy he is, he's allowed. Said as a jest but Dunk takes him up on it.
Despite being one of the few places in all of The Crownlands that has both pegasi and unicorns, no one actually goes near the stables, hell, even the people meant to take care of the animals seem to only go there when absolutely needed to muck the stalls with all the waters and feeders being automatic. It honestly pisses him off and he has half the mind to talk to Maekar about it but if he did that he wouldn't be able to find his home away from home, and thus he allows himself to be selfish while taking care of his favorites Sweetfoot the Unicorn, Thunder the Pegasi, and Chestnut who... seems to be a normal horse. He is not quite convinced but the horse let's him tend to them with ease so he isn't worried too much. (Chestnuts pronouns are they/them cause Dunk doesn't know. Also there are a fuck ton of horses, Dunk plays favorites)
Soon enough, Raymun, Rowan, Beony, and Daisy join in after Sweetfoot escapes the stables and opens the window to his dorm to steal Raymuns apple. Dunk has to confess where he spends his free time and while the four don't necessarily care for horses the way Dunk does, a place where the majority of the royals (or higher up royals are as Raymun is a Lord's son, everyone else is common) appeals to all of them. The girls even manage to convince Dunk into letting them take videos and make posts of him for their account. The girls have an account that is just making commentary of being commoners at a royal school, the various out of touch things they say, and Beony&Daisy do skits involving wigs and bad contact filters. While Dunk doesn't join in the mockery as he is a Crownlands citizen (Rowan - Stormlands, Daisy - Reach, Beony - Dorne), he does the occasional complaint or rant about the general out of touchness while he grooms the horses(?).
Rowan initiates "Dunk ASMR" which is just everyone relaxing while studying (the girls are actually there for degrees) as Dunk grooms and sweet-talks the horses with lofi beats playing in the background. All livestreamed, recorded, and posted. There's some chatter between them, shared questions, or one of them joining in brushing or talking to a horse. None of them care much for the mess as each of them commandeered some of Dunk's farmboy clothes for their own and theres a shower in the stables. It proves to be nice for the first few weeks until one night Daeron Targaryen stumbles in drunk, looking for a calm place to hide from his family only to see a study group dressed in large flannels and stolen overalls. (Rowan is absolutely wearing hemmed overalls and a sports bra! Second study day was everyone modifying Dunk's clothes, with help from Dunk.)
Not willing to ruin the vibes, Rowan sets him down on a beanbag Raymun dragged in, gave him a bag of chips and a water bottle, a pat on the head, and went back to studying. In fact, everyone kind of ignores him except Raymun who says "If you throw up, do it outside.", they don't even stop the live-stream, which normally they would as the royals here have NDA's stronger than reinforced steel... but it's Daeron who is on the news at least once a month for drunken shennanigans, they don't feel a need and Daeron is rather confused and docile. He looks like a street cat being pet for the first time and not understanding if he likes it or not, but he eats the bag of chips and drinks the water, just confused. Eventually he even curls up on the bean bag and passes out. The live stream ends with Dunk and Raymun agreeing that Daeron should probably rest in their room that night, and the last shot is Dunk easily picking up Daeron in a princess carry.
The next morning Baelor and Maekar stress when they hear that Daeron is in the media again but are pleasantly surprised to see its not for disorderly conduct, illicit substances, or having a general mental break caused by stress, sex, drugs, alcohol, or some combination of all four. Just Daeron looking like a confused cat on the studying live stream Brynden told them that some of the raffle students do. Over coffee they watch the video of Daeron and Baelor lets out a genuine sigh of relief as Daeron does nothing incriminating and Maekar is surprised to see his son actually drink water, in fact neither are surprised at the fact "chronic insomniac Daeron" managed to pass out because Maekar was halfway there from the soft sounds of Dunk talking to Thunder as he preens the beasts wings. Though neither brother will admit any form of reaction to Dunk murmuring "Gods you're a big man, arentcha?" as he finishes up cleaning the pegasus.
Dunk and Raymun have rugby practice but when they open the door to leave Valarr is there, accompanied by his girlfriend Kiera who walk into their room to find Daeron comfortably passed out in Dunk's bed as well evidence that Dunk slept on the floor. (Raymun and Dunk tried sharing but beds too small and Raymun wouldn't let Daeron sleep on his bed cause he just washed his sheets). Valarr just sighs at his cousin while Kiera remembers manners and etiquette exist and thanks the two profusely, commenting how hard it must of been for Dunk to sleep on the floor, which Dunk unfortunately supplies that it's no big deal, he's slept on worse floors in worse places. Sometimes he just sleeps on the floor because the mattress feels too nice for him at times. Kiera the psychology major desperately wants to unpack that but Daeron wakes up before she can, mumbling about them being too loud.
Valarr already exhausted of his cousin pulls him out of bed causing his 26 year old cousin to let out a genuine whine as he shivers at the loss of warmth. Dunk is kind enough to give Daeron one of his hoodies and Valarr drags his cousin out while informing the two that players that morning practice was cancelled as Valarr has to deal with Daeron and Lyonel is temporarily back home to deal with Stormland politics. Kiera gives them both her number, telling them she likes watching the live streams and that Beony's Aerion impression is amazing, and to text her if they have the need.
30 minutes later Rowan send the group chat a screenshot of an email she received from Brynden Rivers
"The school has been made aware of your stable studying live-streams. You are free to continue doing them and using the space for that purpose and should any member of a royal family enter the space you are allowed to continue recording unless requested to stop and given good reason. We will be watching :). Kind regards - Bloodraven."
The group is taking that as a win.
