Reality Check About Being A Stripper:
These are all the things that have happened to me in my 7 years of on and off exotic dancing:
Guys have whipped out their dicks and rubbed them on me.
My tits have been grabbed
And my ass
And my legs
Guys have jizzed on me
All of them assumed they just had to name a price to get me to blow or fuck them, like I had a set limit they just had to go high enough
Was almost puked on, ran away
The young guys don’t tip, EVER
The old guys will pay but want to touch you EVERYWHERE and sorry when you see the money they are offering you want to take it.
You have to tip the house and the DJ no matter how much you make
There are drugs so easily available it will make your head spin.
Don’t steal a regular from another girl even if you are a veteran that is punishable by death.
Also it’s still stealing if he comes up and wants to buy a dance from you
You will NOT meet your millionaire prince charming that way
In 7 years of it, I met ONE attractive guy and he was painfully shy, only wanted to talk, never bought a dance.
You will have stalkers
You will be lucky if someone doesn’t assault you
You will be lucky if security will give a damn about you if you don’t tip them
You will be lucky to meet the minimum quota for drinks you HAVE to sell that night in order to work there (Or they take it from your tips)
You will get yelled at on stage by the guys who will say horrible things to you and give you no money.
You will have guys offer you a few bucks to show them your pussy
You will have guys try to stick their fingers in you, and I mean everywhere, mouth, pussy, ass, you name it.
You will have guys who want to touch and not pay.
You will have guys that will promise you more money but never come through.
Anyone who doesn’t say any of this to you before you start is lying to you or isn’t your friend. I did it, I went through it, I saw it all and I did it all. I was addicted to drugs at one point. If you want to talk about a job where you work hard, are guaranteed NO money on any given night, have to stay up late, bust your ass to sell drinks which you see no profit from, have to tip a DJ who won’t play the music you want, and have to deal with pervert managers who assume you will sleep with them at any given time like they are doing you a favor this is totally the job for you.
Have fun but I beg you to reconsider your options!
Thanks for writing this.
I’m reblogging this for everyone who thinks this would be an empowering feminist sex-positive career choice that will earn you a lot of money.
Reblogging because I literally believed that ^ in my libfem days went on to be a stripper under that impression.

On May 31st, for the first time in India we held a nation-wide march against speciesism. Vegans in seventeen cities across India held the march simultaneously to increase awareness about animal exploitation and how we can work towards putting an end to it. The pictures above are from the Chennai march.
We officially launched our first billboard! This one is the first in a series and is currently on display in Corvallis, Oregon. Up next: Salem and Eugene!
I am hopeful that this is a clear and strong message from every animal that is currently being enslaved, exploited and killed for food.

I think vegans care more about animals than fellow humans
Hmm. So that implies that meat eaters care more about their fellow humans than vegans do. Let’s take a closer look at a huge issue. World hunger: Poor nutrition causes nearly half (45%) of deaths in children under five - 3.1 million children each year.
Some 805 million people in the world do not have enough food to lead a healthy active life. That’s about one in nine people on earth.
30% of the world’s landmass is dedicated solely to livestock feed.
Switching to a vegan diet could provide food for 815 million more people than are now being fed. However, the infrastructure for distribution is currently unable to handle the amount of food. Why not?
The amount US taxpayers spend yearly to subsidize meat and dairy is $38 billion. The annual government-managed “checkoff” spending to promote meat and dairy is $557 million.
Were this money used to establish and maintain infrastructure to distribute those human children would be fed.
Do meat eaters care about hungry people? “Demand for crops is expected to double by 2050 as population grows and increasing affluence boosts meat consumption. Meat takes a particularly big toll on food security because it takes up to 30 crop calories to produce a single calorie of meat. In addition, crops are increasingly being used for biofuels rather than food production. This study sought to quantify the benefit to food security that would accrue if some or all of the lands used to produce animal feed and fuel were reallocated to directly produce food for people” [x] Meat eaters don’t care about other humans being hungry, they only care that they can eat animal remains. If they did then they’d realize that by spending the amount of resources to produce meat for their selfish appetites, they are literally starving impoverished human children.
As to the Environment, the animal agriculture industry meeting the demand of 7billion people is the driving force behind climate change and the 6th mass extinction of species (including humans) on earth. Even when faced with this fact meat eaters would rather have their Big Macs and die taking their fellow humans with them. Vegans on the other hand are trying to save the biosphere (including humans).
One example is the Amazon Rainforest, the lungs of the earth. The Amazon is the largest rainforest and it is rainforests that exchange carbon dioxide for oxygen in the atmosphere. They also provide some filtration of air pollutants. The Amazon Rainforest is being cut down at a rate of an acre per second 24/7. 80% of that is due to either cattle grazing or growing livestock feed. Over 1,000 environmental activists have been murdered in the last 20 years for opposing the cattle and oil industries destruction of the Amazon rainforest. Why are they putting their lives on the line opposing the killers in the cattle industry? Because they care about whether human and animals have a livable, sustainable planet. Meat eaters on the other hand would just as soon see the planet die of asphyxiation than to give up one hamburger.
So who is it that doesn’t care about humans?
So accurate.

I’ve wasted too much of my life on people that only exhaust me.
18/04/2015 (via faded-and-dreaming)
When I was younger, I wish someone had told me straight-up that not all adults experience “a calling”. That many of them never find particular purpose in a career. That sometimes, their job is just what pays the bills and they have to seek satisfaction and fulfillment elsewhere.
Because as an adult, this pervasive notion that there exists a perfect path for everyone, that people should love what they do, and that work is meant to function as a vehicle for fulfilling a person’s grand life destiny is not only inaccurate for many of us, it can be toxic.
The ideal is so ingrained that I have to remind myself constantly I’m not a failure because I don’t adore my job, and because I’m not rocking the world with my work. That is okay.
Sometimes, work is just work. There isn’t always a perfect career path, magically waiting to be discovered. There might not be this THING you were born to do. Sometimes, you discover that what you really want to be when you grow up is “paid”.
Thank God, someone more eloquent than me put it into words.

Peter and I wrote a short piece for Direct Action Everywhere about how important sanctuaries are in the animal rights movement. We also told the story of our sweet girl, Frankie.
One of the most significant things we can do as activists is to support sanctuaries and tell the stories of the beautiful animals we meet there: stories of love, stories of freedom, stories of being saved.
Please find your local farm sanctuary or microsanctuary and see how you can get involved!
