i discovered i do vasovagal syncopes when i went to donate my blood for the first time after they lifted the ban on gay people
i had to be admitted into extended surveillance because i lost consciousness for a few minutes and my blood pressure was "dangerously low" (admittedly. i don't remember a lot of it due to the experience + generally bad memory).
it was very weird. one moment I'm there chatting with the nurse, the next it feels like i'm waking up from a super deep nap, and the best i can describe the experience is "nothing makes sense". people are speaking to me but i can't parse what they're saying, and the ceiling is moving wildly, and my entire body was tingly like when a limb falls asleep. it took me an hour (and free snacks) to completely recover
it wasn't even from blood loss or anything, they barely drew any when i lost consciousness, i'm just super interested in medical stuff and kept watching the procedure and asking the nurse all sorts of questions. apparently the sight of blood gushing into a vial is enough to knock me out. which was a novel experience to me hence discovering it now
