Someone explain to me before my head explodes. Why did Andy pick Blaine over Duckie? I mean- Duckie was perfect for Andy. He loved Andy for who she truly was, not just because she was drop dead gorgeous. Duckie even said that he would die for Andy! Duckie serenaded Andy in the middle of the record store. He loves Andy and she still picked Blaine over Duckie. If I was Andy, I would pick Duckie over plain Blaine hands down. Someone just explain this to me before my heart explodes.

In the original script Andie did pick Duckie! This didn't go down well with test audiences who felt Andie was "settling" and it wasn't a "fairy tale ending".
