Hinami laughed as well, nodding in agreement. “Yes! You’ve just got to keep reading to find out what happens! But I agree, when a book ends on a cliffhanger, it’s bad for my heart. Especially when I have to wait a long time to for the next book to come out.” Sometimes, it made her feel like throwing the book across the room–but that was no way to treat a book, no matter how angry or into it she got. 

“Oh?” Her eyes widened slightly, tilting her head to the side. “Well, it’s true, there are a lot of people who enjoy books the way I do, but also some who don’t. There’s nothing wrong with reading for more knowledge either.” She smiled, absentmindedly playing with a strand of her hair. “I think it’s very admirable to read for that reason as well.”

Her expression softened as Ctholly went on. “That sounds nice…I did something similar, at least. Where I’m from, there were several children that lost their parents. My….ah, group took them in, sheltered them and took care of them. I helped every chance I could get.” She wondered how they were doing now…probably wondering where she had gone, or why she hadn’t come to visit yet.

“I understand exactly what you mean. It’s the same for me…There are lots of people back home that I worry about, and it does feel lonely without them but..I believe we’ll see each other again eventually,” she nodded. “Maybe not yet, but the future, surely.” People she wanted to reunite with more than anything.

Another laugh left her lips and she shook her head. “No, don’t worry about it. I’m learning more about you! We’re friends, after all. That’s natural, isn’t it?” she asked, her eyes shining. She hadn’t thought she’d make friends so easily here but…well, the peaceful atmosphere was getting to her.

“Oh, you’re totally right about that! I’ve read many books that just give me cliffhangers like nobody’s problem! It’s a problem, to my heart too!” She laughed again, following Hinami. She felt like she had a really good time in talking with Hinami. It’s always nice to have new friends, especially (but not limited) with the same interest.

“I...suppose so.” She answered dully. “But, you know... I’m kind of getting into it as well. My original purpose of reading books just because I want knowledge has changed. It’s become one of my purposes. I have many reasons to read books now, and I think that’s great!” She nodded happily as if she agreed to her own statement, what a child-like behavior. “I guess I can learn a lot from you, Hinami!”

Hearing a bit of Hinami’s story made Chtholly nodded, as she smiled in relief to the brunette. She wasn’t the only one in that situation, huh? Though, it’s not exactly the same, for the children Chtholly took care had longer background than just ‘having no parents’. But that wasn’t important to talk about.

“That will be great... I want to see them again...” She didn’t know how much time she had left. That had been plaguing her mind for a while, and she hoped for another chance to meet the others in Fairy Warehouse again. “I’m sure, Hinami too, can meet everyone you care of again!”

“Friends...huh?” She giggled. “I guess so. That makes us not only fellow librarians, but also friends, huh? That sounds like a wonderful idea!”

The library– Aiko couldn’t remember the last time she visited one while she was alive, so now that she had all the time in the world… This would be ample time for reading! Well, she only hoped the books would be ones she could read, after meeting and seeing so many different kinds of people. Were there books for the aliens too? Judging by the size, it must have. Stepping in, Aiko took off her old sun hat, one that Punpun gave her. Why did she still have it anyhow? Where was the astrology section?

After walking around listlessly for a few minutes, Aiko gave up with a pout. Guess it was time to ask a librarian. The first one to catch her eye was a girl with blue hair, who sat behind the desk looking a bit… bored. Aiko could sympathize. Quietly, she headed over to the desk, and offered a smile to the other girl, and spoke in a soft voice.

“Hi.”

“Sorry to bother you- um, are there books on astrology here?”

Chtholly was never bored. Actually, with all the jobs she had to handle as librarian, she had no excuse to be bored. She still had many things to do, piling on the side of her desk. However, this was just another time of her spacing out, because of her mental disintegration.

She didn’t space out by purpose, it just happened. Elq talked to her, about her vivid, blood-red colored memories flashing in front of her eyes that no one but her could see, and none of them sounded pleasant. It felt like Chtholly had imaginary friend.

Dreams after dreams, she realized that Elq was more than just an imaginary friend. She was-

Oh, someone greeted her. Thank God. Chtholly glanced to the lass that approached her desk, asked about books of astrology. Come to think of it, lately there were many of people asking about that kind of books, so she probably should place them in a place where it’s visible to everyone.

“Yes, there are.” She answered, tried to regain herself after a while spent by spacing out. “Shall I show you the way?”

While it was nice to have someone taking care of her, even if it was a sheep, she made sure to give the poor thing a break sometimes. After all, carrying her around so much had to be exhausting, right? Even if Woolfram didn’t seem like he minded. The sheep was very kind, and truthfully, reminded her of her Wolfram. 

She had to admit, the name was incredibly clever, especially when considering the odds that Woolfram would end up being her caretaker. 

But today she was on her own for the moment, using her Arachne Patousa, the eight-legged device to walk. Perhaps it looked strange–no, it definitely looked strange. People were staring, and it did take up a bit of room on the sidewalk. 

“Hm…it seems I’ll have to perfect the design…Something more compact..” Sieglinde paused her musing just in time to catch herself from stumbling into someone else. “Oh! My apologies,” she greeted, giving a small curtsy, like she’d been taught. “I got too carried away with my thoughts.” Wouldn’t be the first time.

Chtholly had to stop for a moment and blinked few times to make sure she wasn’t seeing things. The bizarre machine that the woman used...for a moment, she mistook it as one of Seventeen Beasts, and that made her felt cautious. But, after a closer look, it didn’t seem to be one of the Beasts.

Well, a little too close look, to the point she fell. It seemed the machine--or the woman who used it--had stumbled into her. After quickly regained her senses from her daydream, she also apologized.

“I also apologize... I didn’t watch where I walked.”

She had lost count how much she had spaced out, which wasn’t a good sign of her mental condition, at all.

Of Logic and ‘Fantasy’ ( Closed - Chtholly)

Well, that rather curious stranger he’d met marked down as a decidedly…interesting individual aside, Alfendi knew he couldn’t stand pondering whether that fellow had truly been a maths teacher as he had said all day. (Though every bit of his smarts when it came to spotting someone who wasn’t being entirely honest mused he had not been. Still, he seemed a genuine sort who didn’t wish to harm anybody, so as much as he was itching to investigate that matter furhter, he felt he shouldn’t.)

There was still this rather curious city to explore, after all. That, and he really should try to organize some sort of thing to do while he was stuck here: best to make the most of a potentially worrying situation, no?

[ We should really be focusing on getting back home, but as much as I hate to admit you actually have a smart idea for once in your pathetic life, we can’t do anything without an income. >  

…Choosing to ignore his other self’s sassy words, there. So, the next course of action was finding out what investigation rooms this place held, and what one may be the best choice. Asking sheep seemed a poor idea when he couldn’t understand them: best to ask another person.

“Excuse me, but…may I have a moment of your time?“ It seemed a few folk were busy, ignoring him completely - which made his other side both bemused and cross - but he continued to to attempt to ask strangers. It seemed a younger girl had seen the whole thing, as he spied one nearby… but he didn’t wish to pester a child. He wasn’t certain a child would know right away where a ‘investigation office’ was, after all.

Still, if everyone else was busy, she might be able to give some directions in general at least…

Sure, the sheep might look peculiar at first, but after a while of staying in this city, as well as working with them in library, she had grown accustomed with their existence. Sometimes, she would approach one of them and gave them a pet, encouraged them. She was well-aware that the sheep were working really hard, and they didn’t seem to be nervous at all for serving a lot of humans staying here.

In her workplace, the sheep would sometimes help her to bring the books and clean the area, though it’s still undeniably smelly. Chtholly had grown used to the smell of sheep along with their existence as time went by.

Thinking back to the time she first arrived in this city, she didn’t believe that she was so freaked out with them. She felt bad for ever feeling that way to them.

She took a small break from her job, and went outside the library for a walk. Later, she found a man who seemed lost. She couldn’t turn a blind eye, of course.

“Umm, do you need any help, sir?”

Fairies in the forest? (Closed - Chtholly )

That strange flicker he’d seen before - even as he was about to practice his tomes, it didn’t leave his mind completely. It was peculiar, but it had seemed like a blue light of sorts: a sort of magic of it’s own, but he should focus on the practice of the show. Not on things that may have just been a trick of the light or his hopeful mind playing tricks on him.

Taking a few steps forth, he had readied to start practicing - but a blinding light through the trees almost made him drop the tome completely. W-what had that been? He certainly hadn’t been seeing things with that, he was certain. It had surrounded a fair bit of the forest, after all.

A voice, sounding afraid and startled, through the trees, only further fueled this thought that he hadn’t been seeing things: someone else had been using magic here, and he was just as startled as they were about the thing: also, he was shy.

As a result, the mage gave a stammered: “I-i’m sorry…I’ll leave right away, I didn’t wish to alarm anyone…” before attempting to close his tome, and grab the string that led out of the forest. He didn’t want to scare anyone, so best to follow the string out: as much as he wanted to see who the other magic-user was, he felt terrible about scaring them, possibly.

 Sadly, luck was not so much on his side, as the string had gotten tangled in other trees - and so he ended up walking in front of a frightened-looking stranger. Laurent shrank back, not knowing what to do, the string for the way out still clutched tightly in one gloved hand.

She heard a stammered male’s voice, in the same time when she found him, looked frightened. Actually, Chtholly wasn’t scared, at all. She’s just got alarmed by the existence of someone other than her in this forest. If she wasn’t mistaken, there’s almost no one would come here. It’s not a great place for hangout or anything.

Yes, almost. The fact that the nervous-looking male standing there proved her belief to be slightly wrong.

“Oh, please calm down!”

She didn’t mean to intimidate him or anything, honestly! And...since when the way out was being halted by tangled strings? She didn’t recall using her magic for this! Was it his? Or...was it...Elq’s magic?

“I’m sorry. I...don’t mean to make you scared.”

The problem about the way out being blocked could be solved later. For now, she needed to ensure him that she’s no dangerous person at all. After all, in this Stella City, there hadn’t been any threats whatsoever. Everyone, who still had the chance to have better fate, was happy. Aside from the sheep, nothing wrong happened.

“I...just... didn’t expect a company here, and...you also had seen my magic before, right? I didn’t expect anyone to see that... So, I was kind of startled, I’m sorry.”

          {♦} —; “That’s a shame.” she replies simply along with a gentle sigh. Akira’s gaze switched from the librarian to the bookshelves, her thoughts trying to switch what sort of subject she should now search for. Gears clicked and her expression loosened up some before she turned her attention back.

          {♦} —; “If that’s the case, then may I inquire if you have any books from the author Sen Takatsuki?” Akira had read some snippets of the authors books before, however she hadn’t become invested. With the recent news from before she came to Stella City however, she figured she should get some insight towards the author’s thought process. It may be important.

Oh, that name again, Takatsuki Sen. She remembered Hinami ever talked about her favorite author with that name. One day, the author herself ever paid a visit to the library, looking for her books in this library, and whoever had borrowed them.

And now, this woman also asked for the books from the Takatsuki Sen person. Chtholly never read her books before, nor did she ever hear the name prior to her stay in Stella City. She felt like she ha to read it.

“I believe we have...” Chtholly answered, with a doubt. “Though... I’m afraid I don’t know much about it... Maybe, my friend Hinami, knows more.”

Check your shelf before you wreck your shelf

Lollipop Library was one of these places in Stella City Hajime didn’t visit often, if at all. Despite his studious nature, he actually didn’t read that many books in his spare time. He preferred playing video games on the easiest setting over reading. 

As such, Hajime would never visit the library without having a good reason to and he just so happened to have a good reason to seek knowledge today. Said knowledge was a lot harder to find than expected, however. His eyes darted over rows and rows of books, but he wasn’t able to find what he was looking for. Being out of options, he could only ask for assistance in his search.

“Excuse me,” Hajime spoke in a hushed voice, trying to get the attention of a librarian who was currently placing books back in their original spot. “I was wondering if there are any books here on Stella City? History books, maps, tourist tips… anything on the city, really.”

It’s been another busy day for Chtholly working as librarian. Returning books back to their respective shelves wasn’t an easy job, especially in the huge library like Lollipop Library. Even so, she was enjoying it.

She paused her job and put one of the books she had to return away for a while when a male approached her and asked about...books. He didn’t seem to specify clearly enough for her, so she frowned, unable to fully understand what kind of book he’s looking for.

“Umm... You mean, you’re looking for some books related to Stella City?” She tried to guess. “Will you specify further what kind of books about Stella City that you’re looking for? I’ll be able to help if you can specify.”

Usually people didn’t interest him, this one, looked different though. Vexen points to the younger girl and speaks up,

“Come with me, you’re perfect for an experiment I’m working on!”

What’s that all of a sudden? Normal people wouldn’t suddenly point at her and say that she’s great for his experiment. She held back the urge to flee from the scene immediately, and confusedly asked the other.

“I...beg your pardon, sir?”

          Haruka was relieved at first for the girl’s help, but then it occurred to her that the younger didn’t sound much more confident that Haruka was herself. She was about to say it was alright when the girl gestured to follow saying the hotel should be this way. As she followed the composer spoke up, “Are you sure? If not I can ask a police officer. I don’t want to bother you too much.” Haruka would feel awful, and kind of silly, if they both ended up getting lost together. “I’m Haruka, by the way. Nanami, Haruka, it’s nice to meet you.”

She was aware that the reason of her forgetfulness was because of something personal that had been occurring. That’s why, she wanted to fight back. She didn’t want to give up from ‘that’. Thus, she wanted the other to believe her that she didn’t forget.

“It’s fine. I’m sure my memory serves. I’m sure I’m not wrong.”

She smiled to the other female as she introduced herself back in return. “Nice to meet you too, Haruka. I’m Chtholly. The places in this city aren’t that hard to remember, if you have been used to it.”

She had been seeing that girl for a while in library. Not reading books, but fiddling and sometimes working over a strange machine that Chtholly had never seen before. Her homeland was really secluded from technology, after Beasts had taken over the surface, so her lack of familiarity to advanced technology was obvious.

In curiosity, she approached the girl. “Um, what are you making?”

She knew that her having some visions of memories that weren’t hers were the side-effect of her self-disintegration. Soon her hair color would change as well, following the loss of her identity. It’s still disturbing, though. Sometimes, she also saw a child with red hair, and white outfit, that she didn’t recognize.

So, maybe... Maybe there’s a chance of preventing her from keep seeing those. After some talks to her company, she decided to bring the topic anyway.

“Do you mind if I ask something? I have been seeing...things at my own eyes, and it’s not certainly pleasant...So, maybe you can help?”
