#Repost @ascotvalelc ・・・ June 11th to June 17th is Men’s Health Week. Science is beginning to show that meditation can have a major impact on our brains and the way our bodies function. Clinicians are increasingly looking for effective, preventative, non-pharmacological options to treat mental illness. Meditation techniques show promise as an alternative tool by activating the parasympathetic nervous system. Meditation healthfully slows down the heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure and soothes all other sympathetic nervous system fight or flight functions. Introducing even 15 minutes of meditation into you routine can help calm the mind, centre oneself and bring balance back to the Autonomic Nervous system. Want to try it for yourself? Join Shane next Thursday the 21st of June on International Day of Yoga; 6.45pm- Vinyasa Yoga (60 minutes) 7.45pm- Guided Meditation (30 minutes) These sessions are open to all members, friends and family and casual visitors. (at Ascot Vale Leisure Centre)
