Sharing.Lab is a non-profit organisation based in Copenhagen. We research and experiment with how sharing can empower urban communities. We curate, produce and share knowledge on how to apply the sharing of social objects on both a theoretical and practical level. We have an open structure and share our knowledge with interested parties with the aim of creating a ‘knowledge toolbox’ that can be applied in the creation of local niche communities.We believe that by sharing our ressources, we can strengthen the cohesive force, reduce strain on the environment and increase happiness in urban contexts. We are dedicated explorers of how the sharing of small objects can create communities. We research the mechanisms that make us share, and incentives for becoming part of a community. By rediscovering the qualities of the Danish cooperative movement, we believe Danes can become pioneers for sharing. We aim to bring these ideas up-to-date, carried by technology and mobile devices, and thereby establish a modern Danish co-operative movement in urban contexts. We accumulate information on the sharing economy in collaboration with VIA University College, and we are supported by the Ministry of Housing, Urban and Rural Affairs.

WORKSHOP TIME!

thank you all for taking part in our Share Vienna workshop! We’ve had very fruitful discussions on sharing and collaboration, and the common needs of the sharing community in the city, despite of tropical temperatures! Just came back from the 11th conference of ESEE - the European Society for Ecological Economics. Topic: Transformations. Got lots of good reactions and great feedback on the Q study conducted within Share Vienna both from the conference participants, and young scholars attending the pre-conference summer school! Thank you all for amazing energy and more inspiration for working on transformative alternatives!

Slowly but steadily, Vienna's collaborative economy is growing. Photo: Vienna Shares In Austria’s capital city, proponents of the collaborative economy face several obstacles to widespread adoption. These include low awareness of alternative markets and sharing resources; media skepticism; and the municipal government’s focus on the "smart city" model.
