Mavka (мавка) aka Navka (навка), derived from "nav' " — the unholy/living dead — malevolent creatures in Ukrainian demonology, inhabiting rivers, ponds and the fields. Mavki come from girls who died before marriage of faced the "wrong" untimely death. The traditional beliefs about mavki is also not that different from that of rusalki — they look like children and girls with long unbraided hair, naked or in plain shirts. However, they lack a skin on their back, witch makes all of the insides visible, and cast no reflection on the water. On occasion mavki would try to lure a stranger into the water but would spare more witty or careful people. An unusual later concept is an opportunity within a specified time to "cleanse" the soul of a mavka with the help of prayers and therefore deprive it of its status of a demon. After that period is over, mavka would live as a demonic creature till the end of times.

This sketch got so much love so I decided to make a digital version.

[IMG ID:
1. Pencil sketch of a mouth with sharp canines, with a hand with one finger pulling the lips aside. Words around it read "keep dehumanizing us and we will remember we have teeth."
2. The same drawing, digitized, in rainbow on a black background. The style is similar to scratch art.

we need to instill a new storytelling rule of thumb into people called "show don't tweet" where we encourage them to put all pertinent canon information into the actual story and its official supplemental material instead of using reddit AMAs as lore dlcs
ok sorry to double reblog BUT I just looked him up and he does these fantastic videos where he breaks down HOW he actually mimics the other artists’ styles. Like for ed Sheeran, he explains how he brings his voice forward in the mouth, while Adam Levine sings in the back of the mouth, stuff like that. It’s SO COOL, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone actually break down how to do this sort of thing, as a skill, instead of just treating it like a neat trick they just happen to be good at. https://www.tiktok.com/@justinjmooremusic
Check him out he’s so cool

did i tell you guys i failed at being sexually harassed at work today?
okay so, guy at work, who i find out afterwards is famous at this place for being a sex pest, comes up and starts with what i also learn is his favorite opener to conversations where he’s going to be a sex pest, namely: “Do you know where the term ‘blow job’ comes from?”
and here he made his first fatal error. his moment of hubristic sex pesting. because of course i know where the term blow job comes from, i love learning about sex and the history of sexual terms! i know so much about oral sex that i could write a book on it!

I think one of the funniest abortion stances I've heard was from my parents neighbor. He's a like, hard-core libertarian viking larper guy who is very tall and very fat and very bald.
He believes a fetus is human with a soul, but also its "basically attacking the woman's body" so if she wants to get rid of it, that's "basically self-defense". He compared it to shooting a home invader. So he supports abortion not as healthcare, but as killing a baby in self-defense
Y'know I'm so glad someone reminded me of this. Because this was also discussed.
My stepmother did NOT like the way her Libertarian Viking Neighbor framed pregnancy as the fetus "attacking the woman". She incredulously told him this was extremely disrespectful to expectant mothers to portray pregnancy as so violent and negative.
Libertarian Viking Neighbor's response was that people consensually hurt each other all the time, and "there's like a whole community about that, with the acronym the one that starts with a B" And his reasoning was that if the mother was consenting to bring attacked by the baby, it in fact wasn't violent and negative because there was consent.
He brought up people consensually hurting each other, didn't go for one of the obvious answers like boxing or body mods or something, no he went STRAIGHT TO BDSM and he DIDN'T EVEN REMEMBER THE ACRONYM

if you're ever wondering what popular media is getting wrong about basically any premodern society, the answer is that there are never enough lawsuits
there's a common idea that in the olden days all disputes were resolved through violence, but even in settings where that was true, people would still sue each other about it.
Like 80% of Icelandic sagas involve lawsuits. Sometimes against ghosts.
This worked to get rid of the ghosts, incidentally.
unauthorized fucking thing!!!!!!

I have never read or watched Death Note and i know the whole ‘book that kills people’ premise but from all the shit i see on here it seems to be two teenaged boys acting out this scene over and over
