I think Kim's psychological problems are so compelling to me because he doesn't even realize he has them. Like, I think Kim is extremely self aware in a lot of ways, knows where his failings are and what his insecurities are and what upsets him. I don't think he thinks of himself as perfect. But he does think of himself as normal. Healthy. He's too repressed to realize he's repressed, yknow? He tells Harry he doesn't talk to himself, he writes his thoughts down, not recognizing that that is a conversation with himself. He tells Harry it's better to focus on work, don't let yourself be weighed down by petty things like emotion, push that aside, and thinks that's absolutely the healthiest and best way to deal with difficult feelings. He knows that the RCM can be corrupt and that there are officers who intentionally abuse their power but still wholeheartedly believes in the institution -- and refused to recognize any cognitive dissonance there. I think this is a man who definitely intellectualizes his own brain and emotions, and when he can't do that, he ignores them. And then he calls that normal. Kim Kitsuragi the man that you are

We as a society don't talk enough about how Kim and Harry both worked with kids, but in completely different ways that could have shaped how they act around kids/their attitudes, with Kim having an immediately negative experiences with them working as a juvie officer, while Harry experience was likely completely opposite while being a gym teacher.

Okay so the next few (like, quite a few) pages of Echoes will take place mainly at the Precinct 41 so here are few sketches I did when I was designing it? hope that may help clear up what happens where and such

(I finally decided that the part of the building where gym is, should be shorter than lazareth/wing D part. Also the top left buildings were built later, like in the communist times, so they were not part of the original silk mill)

Here's the wing C floor with the layout of the rooms. I see this floor as a place that has been changed many times and I'd say there isn't one big bullpen for all the C-wing, but rather three or so rooms. There is one room that could be a room for the leaders of the wing (i.e. Harry and Jean) but I think Harry would be too much of a social man to move there (and I feel like every time Jean would be annoyed at Harry he'd say he's moving there on his own but then ofc never actually be doing that). This particular bullpen never had a lot of sense but I belive it used to have more once. Then G.Bevy left and Jean decided he has enough of bumping into Harry every two seconds so they made a little rearrangement. The desk on the right bottom is hated by everybody for some reason so it stays unused for now.

God, I love how this game is written. It's so fun to just... make little blorbos based on how Harrier du Bois' fucked up brain voices will see them. A heehee. Giggle.

1. What does he look like?

Me. I'm his crowd. He rolls with guys like me.

Seems like a pop-collared prick if you ask me. I don't even need to see him to smell it. Elitism, baby.

Why do we care? We're just asking directions.

PERCEPTION: Now, remember-- you can't determine everything there is to know about a guy based on how he looks, brother.

LOGIC: But we can guess.

PERCEPTION: Sure. He's got a lot of pockets. A dark, snug-fitting ribbed tank top. A t-shirt, cropped at the ribs. A heavy-duty canvas worker's jacket, again with lots of pockets. A bandana around his neck. Work gloves, a duffel bag - so many pockets - and a good, strong pair of leather work boots.

SHIVERS: Hang on. Something isn't right here.

HALF-LIGHT: This whole time, you've been listening to his casual directions, the Lieutenant jotting each one down with quiet affirmations of 'mhm' or 'what's next?' You've been looking at him, haven't even taken your eyes off him.

SHIVERS: But neither has he.

HALF-LIGHT: He's been watching you, watching him.

[SKILL CHECK: COMPOSURE -- GODLY: SUCCESS] You manage to look almost bored, lazily passing your eyes over him again, paying extra attention to what you see.

PERCEPTION: We missed something.

CONCEPTUALIZATION: He runs with an alternative crowd. But not with them. This kid doesn't have an air of popularity-- it's infamy. Look at his bootstraps.

ENCYCLOPEDIA: Revolutionary groups often adopt subtle signs to recognize one another in the wild, especially when expressing a certain view or lifestyle which may invite dangerous interactions. This young man is gritty, savvy in your Marazovian sociopolitical lingo. He's a comrade, of the working class.

HALF-LIGHT: No. Not a comrade. He may not be a fascist, but he's not quite our friend.
