I mean, don't get me wrong; I do think the post-Ep 9 image of Pomni and (an abstracted) Jax is sweet enough, but I do agree it feels... kinda strange that the main thing being taken away from it is that their relationship is healthy.
With that said, though, is it probably one of my favorite things from Ep. 9 that the show, at least for the most part, is aware that Jax is meant to be taken as a cautionary tale and that Pomni's constant attempts to "fix him" will only hurt her in the long run. Jax... also threw away his chances and suffered one of the worst fates anyone can succumb to in the Circus.
I do 100% wish though that the series wasn't too afraid to actually show the harm Jax has caused for other characters. Who knows, I mean maybe now that Jax is no longer a part of the equation, the others can actually heal without his constant abuse.
That's my main issue with everything. I love that Goose fully portrays Jax as a cautionary tale. That's the point. That's how it should be. Jax is not a healthy person, and Jax and Pomni are, canonically speaking, not a healthy dynamic. That's the point, and I appreciate how it's executed.
And then Glitch comes in and, without meaning to, puts the opposite message into their promos and merch ads. It's not ill-intended at all but it does feel really, really weird to watch an episode that's all about how you can't save someone who won't let you, only for Glitch to follow it up with an image about Pomni continuing to be too stubborn to give up on Jax, even after his abstraction. Which is sort of nice, I suppose? But it does give off a more wholesome message.
I've seen other people say this but the biggest issue with the series is that it spends more time focusing on the causation of Jax's abuse rather than the consequences of it. Without meaning to, the narrative gives more attention to the abuser, and any time a character does speak up (like Ragatha), they get shut down and don't get the chance to get angry at him again.
Ragatha gets angry at him in episode five and is told to calm down, then she has to apologize.
Zooble calls him out for hitting the red button and gets shut down with the "it doesn't matter".
I'm not saying anger's the answer but I think there should've been a little more. Dealing with abuse involves a lot of anger, fawning, apologizing, getting angry again, and breaking down. It is CONFUSING and complex. And none of the characters get to respond like that. They either have to cry or, in Gangle's case, come to Jax's defense in saying "it wasn't real".
I fully believe Goose's intention was never to shut down any of the people Jax hurts. I just think the way screen time was split / handled could've been tweaked a bit.
