You guys it has been an uphill battle this week to get anything done for my personal life because work has been unforgiving. (Fucking story of my life.) I was really excited for a lot of this week's prompts and I feel like I let myself down by not having the energy to write when I got home every night...but I'm making up for it (by ignoring work so I can type this up right now.) Because I was really excited for this prompt.
You can find my masterlist here.
Please do not interact if you are not 18+.
Enjoy!
Eddie only had 90 minutes of recording time to prove that you were an absolute idiot.
And he felt like an evil genius, mentally filtering through his collection of tapes, putting together the most epic, metal smackdown of all time. Correction, so he could make a mixtape of the most epic metal smackdown of all time.
He was hunched over his notebook, nose practically touching the paper as he crossed out Motörhead's Ace of Spades in favor of Iron Maiden's Caught Somewhere in Time.
"Uh, Eddie?" Jeff leaned over to look at Eddie's chicken scratch handwriting and almost got hit as he snapped upright. "You're supposed to make mixtapes for people you like, not people who hate your guts."
Eddie threw his back in the most maniacal laughter, and then pointed, right in Jeff's face. "That's what they all want you to think."
eddie starts to do more accents after noticing how much it makes you giggle. he’ll start ordering pizza in a british accent when you’re at the trailer for movie night. when he catches you drifting off while studying, he’s quick to break in a high pitched valley girl accent as he reads “what was like the primary goal of the confederacy in fighting the civil war?” when he notices you trying to hide your smile he continues his theatrics. “whats your damage? do you like want to fail this test?” he’ll break into a french accent when you cook together, he even drew a moustache with a sharpie once (had to go to school the next day with it on since it wouldn’t come off and he didn’t break out of the accent till it fully came off). when he picks you up for school he greets you in a pirate accent, but sometimes it’s a southern one. it somehow never gets old and he’s rewarded with your smile each time.
Lonely is the Word
bartender!eddie x fem!reader
summary: You go to a bar after being stood up and really hit it off with the cute bartender.
word count: 2.1k+
It's a really slow night at the bar for Eddie, which really shouldn't be surprising for a Thursday. There's the usual suspects that are here pretty much every day and that damn flickering bulb that he's been meaning to change. A popular rock song plays softly over the speakers as Eddie wipes down the bar, seeing that the time displayed on the clock behind him means that it's almost time to close.
He's whistling along to the song as he continues to wipe everything down, knowing that he definitely needs to mop when he hears a pair of shoes sticking to the floor. And when he looks up, his whistling comes to a stop as he takes you in.
He doesn't know what you're doing here and why you're wearing a dress, but he's not gonna question it. You look out of place amongst the brick wall and heavy metal band posters and he wonders if you had a prior commitment. And just when he thinks you're going to realize that you're in the wrong place, you make your way over to the bar, sitting on one of the stools.
You set your clutch on the bar as you peruse the menu, clearly unsure of what you're going to order. Eddie's trying to keep up with his closing tasks, but he can't keep his eyes off you, trying to psych himself up to take your order. You seem to be eyeing him too and he wonders if the flirty looks are all in his head or if you really mean them. He's still not quite used to the female attention he's gotten since he's left Hawkins and has a hard time deciphering what's flirting and what's being friendly.
"What can I get for you?" He asks as he makes his way over, throwing the towel he's holding onto his shoulder. He's cute with his unruly, curly hair and his smile that you just know makes everyone swoon. In the dim lighting you can barely make out his brown eyes, imagining that they've gotten him out a lot of trouble.
"I was thinking about a glass of wine, but I think I'm gonna go with the-" you cut yourself off, looking down at the menu in front of you. "The Bahama Mama." You're pointing to the radioactive blue colored drink on the menu and Eddie can't help but laugh at that. In the almost year that this place has been open, only a handful of people have ordered the Bahama Mama. They all like the cheap beer or hard liquor.

riotrants: little warning here, the beginning of this part does contain an attempt. this series covers themes of depression, self hatred, all of that. there will be a third part to this, and i promise it is much more uplifting and fluffy! it will explore their dynamic and how reader kind of learns how to love herself and him in the process!
part one
rain was purifying.
a sweet thrum as they fell from the sky, the soft patters as the ground embraces them. the grass was soft, the earth melding around your figure as you lay beneath the gray clouds. your magic was swirling, a thin barrier between you and the pouring sky.
it had been a month since the phone call.
a month since you’d told johnny storm you wanted nothing to do with him—that you hated that fate had assigned you two to be forever.
a cruel joke.
your hands lifted, knuckles bent slightly as tendrils of paralyzing energy slithered out. a droplet of water snuck through, landing on your lips. your tongue swept out to collect it, and you frowned.
rain was sweet, it always had been. it was warm when you’d once cupped it in your palms upon escaping, greedily drinking it from your dirty little hands. it was soothing to your soul. it purged the evil within you.
the rain was a gift of life you actually believed in. it was consistent, pure, unfiltered, raw. it was sweet, it was kind, it was comforting.
“bitter,” your lips barely moved around the word, the faint, incorrect flavor of life lingering on your tongue.
you let your hands fall, the shield collapsing in an instant.
the skies consumed you.
you closed your eyes.
rain was purifying. it was a sign that renewal is an option, that life is more than rusty shackles, gloom, and needles in your skin.
you thought of him.
would his heart warm you more than his hands? is risking everything you’d ever known worth it?
am i worth it?
you licked your lips. bitter.
is johnny worth it? sweet.
you sat up, feeling the rain further seep into the back of your clothes. your hands gripped the spines of grass, the rain suddenly sweet on your tongue. it alarmed you.
you cupped your hands, momentarily back to the night you escaped. knees soaked with mud, identification bracelet torn and thrown aside.
you drank.
bitter.
maybe i imagined it.
the rain used to be purifying. but now, it felt like a coat of shame, a sluicing reminder of the mistakes you made—a whisper from the sky that wished she could fix everything.
“wouldn’t it be easier?” you lifted another pool of water, smoothing it over your face. you stared off at the line of trees, lifeless and terrified, swirls of energy curling around your limbs. a ghost of a smile, hardly a twitch of your lips, “if i just…went away?”
thunder split the skies.
you breathed out a laugh.
you weren’t sure when you had started to cry, fingers lifting to brush away the rain and the tears.
magic hesitantly swept up, coiling around the tender flesh of your throat. your lids fell, a content little sigh leaving your nose when the energy tightened.
the storm raged.
your fingers curled into fists, and you felt your air thinning.
you weren’t worth it. you weren’t worth fate’s attempts, her wasted time, any of it. spots littered your limited sight, and your lips pulled up.
heartbreakingly genuine, slick with the taste of freedom. you fell to the side, curling in a ball as you fought the need to live. the crushing desire to prevent your unwilling magic from killing you.
a pitiful breath, a sad little twitch.
a downpour, a crack of lightning.
“—oh my god!”
the hospital was cold.
too sterile, too clean.
your eyes never lifted from your hands—decorated with crude, metal cuffs—even as the doctors tried to coax answers from you.
the woman who had found you, bless her heart, was worried sick. she checked on you daily, her red hair doing nothing but irritating your dry eyes. why was she even there?
you were so close.
“ma’am,” one nursing student spoke, and you had to commend his patience, “we only want to help.” you lifted your gaze, and you saw him visibly flinch at the dullness of your eyes, “help?”
“yes, ma’am.”
“finish what i started,” you murmured dryly, cuffed hands lifting to your throat. he tensed, pen jotting something in his notepad as he very quickly left the room.
“you don’t mean that, surely,” the red-haired woman said sadly, her annoyingly soft hands raising to guide yours back down, “life is—“
“not worth it.”
her eyes shimmered with tears, lips curling into a soft frown, “it is worth it. the challenges, the hardships,” her eyes glance down to your bound joints, “the things we don’t understand.”
“i don’t want to keep going.”
“i want you to keep going,” her hand slips into yours, and you want to shrivel away at the comfort it brings, “i want you to find something worth living for. if you can’t live for yourself yet, live for someone else first.”
the crumbling words of i don’t have someone felt like a brick in your mouth. a bitter truth you didn’t want to accept. a future that you were undeserving of.
“is there someone?” she whispered, and you hated how easily she could read you. you’d never allowed anyone to be as close as her.
“i told him i didn’t want him,” you admitted, lifeless irises connecting with hers, “and it’s true.”
she smiled knowingly, her eyes flickering with something that shined like realization—a memory that came to the forefront of her mind.
“i don’t believe that,” she swept a thumb over your hand when your body tensed, “you want him, the love he will bring to you. you just don’t know how to hold it. or how to accept it.”
you stared.
her phone buzzed beside her, and she glanced at it. you followed her eyes.
pete ❤️
“think about it,” she instructed softly, and you missed the warmth from her hands as she stepped out to answer the call.
thinking about it meant change. it meant trying to break habits, it meant trying to coax your mind into believing you were worth something beautiful. you sat with it.
you tried to picture it.
his body against yours, your head on his chest, safe in his warmth. exchanged smiles, walking down the streets holding hands—
his words fighting a losing battle against the demons in your mind, your paralyzing magic entwining with his heat, how you would shut down when anything got difficult, the undeniable way you would make him miserable.
why can’t i see what everyone else does?
she had faith in you—a total stranger had faith in you—a solid belief that you could have what she has. you could be happy, you could be surrounded with love. it wouldn’t be easy, not even a little.
“hey,” she quietly said, and you flinched. you hadn’t even realized she’d returned. she smiled, a soft apology leaving her lips, “thinking about it?”
“do you think he would give up on me?”
she seemed pleased with your question, almost proud or happy that you were finally opening up some. “no. he would keep trying, and trying, and trying, and trying—“ she laughed, her words silenced by another phone call.
she mouthed a quick apology, and you were mildly surprised when she elected to answer the phone there instead of stepping out again.
you watched her expression twist with dread and exasperation, a hint of frustration twinging her tone, “i told you not yet, peter.”
you lowered your eyes, the metal gauntlets eradicating the thrum of your powers. you’d wondered how a hospital had acquired such devices.
rapid fire knocks on the door made you freeze, and she comfortingly patted your knee as she stood. she barely cracked the door open, and hushed whispers filled the threshold as she stepped through.
you turned your head.
it was sunny outside.
you pushed the stiff sheets off your skin, pausing in caution in case she came back in. you faltered at the sight of straps on your legs. you hadn’t noticed those before. you wrangled with wires, far too many wires, and gave up.
your shoulders drooped as you longingly stared at the tiny, built in seat in front of the window. the sun’s rays bathed it the most.
you were cold.
you located a spot where the buckle on the side was loose, and wiggled your ankles to free your feet. you stared unimpressed as the straps easily gave way, and you flinched when the soles of your feet touched the icy ground. you slowly made your way to the chair, curling up in it. the sun kissed your skin, the rays smoothing over your hair and cradling you with warmth. the wires pulled taught with your seating, but they weren’t tugging the patches or the IV embedded in your arm.
“i said no—!”
the door opened.
a rush of heat, heat that made the sun’s rays feel cold.
you didn’t look.
you kept your eyes on the world outside, on the clouds that faintly resembled dinosaurs and a lone hamster. the room was eerily quiet, aside from the beeps of the machines you were still connected to.
“mj, can you…can you—“
“nope. go ahead,” she firmly stated, and you heard the creak of the bed as she sat on it. you heard him sigh.
the heat neared, your body resisting the scrambling urge to cave and absorb it. your head remained turned, your figure curled away from him.
when it got too close, your eyes swiftly jerked to the space next to you.
johnny storm was more handsome up close.
you let your eyes scan him, and he remained perfectly still. it was like he knew what you were doing, he knew you were assessing him. so, when you moved your gaze back to the fat, hamster shaped cloud, he took it as an invitation.
he moved a chair closer, settling down on it.
“you’re beautiful,” he whispered, and you stiffened. you slowly turned to look at him, sat across from you in an outfit so comfortable it made you sick, “i just tried to—“
“i know,” he said swiftly as if to stop you from reminding him, eyes shimmering with pain. his shoulders fell slightly, “i…i know.”
you pressed your lips together, crossing your arms. the sun dimmed outside.
you heard the soft click of the door, and you noticed mj was gone from the bed. she must have determined you were handling it okay, stepping out to give the two of you much needed privacy.
the two of you were quiet.
you were simply taking each other in.
the soft line of his hoodie, his smooth skin that radiated warm, the uneven strands of hair, the immeasurable amount of tenderness in his eyes.
the curve of your throat and the soft line that resides there in the center, the twitch in your knuckles, the darkness surrounding your eyes.
it devastated him.
he was light, warmth, a living beacon of hope and sunshine.
you were darkness, cold, a near lifeless martyr of paralysis and despair.
but, god, were you beautiful.
he couldn’t help but smile, his hands kneading together. you tilted your head, and johnny simply chuckled, “nothing, nothing. i’m just…i’m really happy right now.”
he despised the circumstances, the horrid scenario that led him here—but he was here. here with the woman who had terrorized him for months, the woman who was scared to death to allow anything in her life she had no control over.
you didn’t reciprocate his smile, nor did you seem to rumble with the same energy he did.
“i’m not ideal,” you muttered, “i’m not easy, i’m not good—“
“you’re mine,” he breathed, and he saw a flicker of surprise on your face, “you’re the one i’m supposed to be with, sweetheart. that’s enough for me.”
you turned your head when you felt your throat tighten, tears slowly welling in your eyes.
“hey,” he soothingly called, cautiously draping a hand over yours. he did his best to ignore the bulky metal around your wrists, his heart aching at the sight, “it’s okay.”
he gently brought you back to him, hands slipping into yours. your gazes connected, and johnny’s lips curled into a comforting smile, “i don’t mind a challenge. i don’t mind you needing space sometimes, i don’t mind needing to help you work through emotions.”
he lifted a hand, sweeping his thumb so unbearably soft against your cheek, “i’d love to teach you how to love and be loved again, sweetheart. but…” he trailed off, and you missed the warmth against your face when his hand fell back to cradle yours, “you have to try, too.”
that scared you.
“even when it gets scary, even when you don’t know what you’re doing,” johnny’s eyes never left yours, “even when you feel stupid, or even if you think i’m upset with you. soulmates aren’t a…an easy thing. love isn’t a straight line.”
“it’s,” he paused, trying to find the correct words, “it’s easy, it’s difficult, it’s human. it’s terrifying to be vulnerable, it’s hard to be open, it’s not going to be sunshine and rainbows all the time.”
your lip trembled slightly, and his heart melted at the sight of you. you were shaking, eyes teary and you were so vulnerable, so afraid.
“listen to me, sweetheart,” johnny scooted closer, “as long as you try, as long as you’re trying to let yourself be loved and trying to re-learn how to love me, i promise you i will be right there. i’ll hold you when everything is too much, i’ll kiss your tears away, i’ll help you be nicer to yourself.”
he paused, head tilted endearingly, “it’s your pace, is what i’m getting at. whatever you want, whatever you don’t want. i won’t give up on you. i just want you to give me a chance, and not give up the second it gets scary. can you do that for me?”
you gazed down at your entwined hands, and johnny felt a pang of sadness when you moved them. then, his heart began to race when you lifted his wrists. you pressed his palms against your face, closing your eyes contentedly.
you reopened your eyes, nodding at him.
“i can try,” you whispered.
his smile was molten.
“that’s all i want from you, sweetheart.”

Summary: you might have just met your soulmate. It’s too bad the circumstances are the world is ending and he’s not from your earth.
AN: This is written based off seeing the Fantastic 4 in the New Avengers tower. Nothing is accurate or really based on Doomsday theories. I kept it vague because like I said, it’s literally based on the trailer. Reader is a widow and considers Yelena and Natasha (RIP) her sisters.
Less than an hour ago a white and blue alien ship entered your atmosphere and landed on top of the New Avengers tower.
AAAHHHHHH LOVED THIS SO MUCH!!!! I NEED THAT DATE!!! I WANT MORE ABOUT THEM!!! TELL ME THEY ACTUALLY MADE IT!!!
Eddie is someone who has to experience the world loudly.
He wants to be the loudest at the table, front row or nothing at a concert, screaming his lungs out to his favorite songs, master of the scene he's reading out loud at a campaign.
But when he accompanies you to the only sleepy, little bookshop in Hawkins, he becomes quiet.
It starts with the small happy sigh leaving your lips once you step into the cozy space.
It's like a weight falls off your shoulders at the silence and the smell of paper in the air and Eddie can't help but wander along behind you as you navigate through the shop like it's your second home.
"You can sit here if you like." You point at an old bean bag chair in the corner after greeting the old lady behind the counter like you're old friends. "I won't take too long, promise."
"Take all the time you need, sweetheart." He says under his breath - because he can't quite seperate the shop from the school library where Gareth, him and the others used to get yelled at by the librarian for being too loud during breaks.
You give him a timid smile, followed by a quick kiss to the cheek before taking off.
He doesn't sit down.
He can't when there is so much to take in! How did he not know they are selling playing dices here? Or that there is a little vintage vinyl section with fair prices? He spots a copy of Lord of the Rings and is sold.
And if he were not at this point - the sight of you between the shelves seals the deal.
You are just so...beautiful.
You are lost in thought, completely in your own little world as your fingertips brush over the spines of the books.
Eddie forgets to breathe for a moment when you spot a book that catches your interest and your eyes widen, lips falling open in pleasant surprise and wonder.
He walks over very slowly as if he could startle you and disrupt the peace you're feeling in here, almost stumbling over a little boy that looks at him accusingly before wandering on over to the colorful kids section.
You don't notice.
You're lost in the pages.
And Eddie is lost in you.
"Found a good one?" Eddie asks you quietly as he leans against the shelf to your right.
You nod, tearing your eyes away from the pages before gifting him with the sweetest smile he's ever seen. "It's good. I think I'll enjoy it."
A precious blush follows your words and Eddie grins.
Oh yeah. He remembers the last time you enjoyed a book and it ended up with you reading up the courage to ride him into his own mattress until he saw stars after reading about a princess in your book doing the same to her loyal knight...
"C'mon baby, I'll pay up front." Before you can protest - because you always do when he wants to pay for you - he steals a kiss.
A kind of kiss that begs to be continued later, in the privacy of his room.
It's quiet between the shelves, just you and him breathing the same air now, his hands squeezing your sides while you rest the book on his shoulder and lean up on your tiptoes to meet his lips.
He hopes the boy from earlier won't wander into the romance section now.
He'd hate to get thrown out of his new favorite place this early on.
But he likes it wherever you are, in the end.
So maybe, his favorite place on earth isn't actually a place.
It's you.
