Mortal cinnabar is a crime and mockery to the art of cultivation. It may look like the cinnabar cultivators use, but it's made out of mercury!
If you can't source your cinnabar from proper spiritual realms just use blood! It's just as effective and less likely to kill you
Ah? But blood turns brown and flakes off, shixiong! Wouldn't beets be better?
Are you using this for talismans or for painting? If you're painting you should be using entirely different materials again! There are good ores and plants you can make red with!
Oh, come now, shixiong, surely paintings are fine! How often are people touching and eating paintings for the mercury to become an issue? I meant beets for painting lips, haha! Ah, or perhaps spicy food would do the trick too! *clearly daydreaming about spicy food*
*smacks*
Do you want the artists to be poisoned?
Ow! *rubs smack* I didn't think of that... would gloves do the trick? Oh! I could try making gloves like that! What does Shixiong think?
*grumbles* Helpless,.completely helpless...
You could make gloves for it. It still isn't good for mortal humans! How many do you know have access to an expert cultivation smith?
That's not even covering the sheer stupidity of the ones who insist on having entire rooms painted in cinnabar and then have the gall to be surprised when they get sick breathing in the fumes from the room whenever it gets hot...
*appalled* Rooms painted in cinnabar?? That's insanity! It wouldn't even look good...
Unfortunately mortal cinnabar looks very similar to proper spiritual cinnabar, which is commonly used in talismans. They think the color is lucky and are ignorant of the fact that spiritual cinnabar is merely an effective medium for cultivation techniques. Slapping it on their walls is as effective as covering it in blank talisman paper.
This is why hiring actual proper cultivators is important!
Ah, I'm out of touch... the last time I went off the mountain, the mortals were all about dyeing silk and wool... How in the world did this tasteless trend come to be??
The emperor wanted cultivators that would obey him. He found ones just strong enough to look impressive but poor enough in cultivation to seek strength in the mortal court instead.
And the emperor isn't worried they have ulterior motives? Brave of those cultivators to put the cultivation world at risk of war for the sake of personal power...
You would think so, but I suspect they are in fact entirely brainless
