Once he had accepted Shang Qinghua was not going to betray the sect, however, he had begun to enjoy the other's company much more. So he was in a calm mood as the mission of hunting down a demonic cultivator that was looking for appropriate sacrifices for his arts was given to them both.

Upon reciving the mission letter Shang Qinghua went to work making sure he had all his supplies stocked and the horse carrige prepared. By the time @shenjiuroleplay mafe his way to the gates, everything was already ready.

Shen Qingqiu was not what could be called a patient man. He He was a survivor, an optimist, and one that constantly strove to go further. Perhaps if he was more patient, he would be less prone to qi deviations. Instead he simply grew frustrated and pushed, increasing the likelihood of having them with his desperation to prove himself.

That same impatience meant he only taught one class a week, because that was the most he could tolerate. He preferred to teach the senior classes, because their mistakes were the least likely to make him want to strangle the children. When he did have to check on how the junior classes were doing, they typically ended with the junior disciples with heavy assigned punishments and sharp cutting words that could draw tears.

Ning Yingying was the only exception to this. Ning Yingying was not what Shen Qingqiu would call an especially talented student. She was however, sweet in her naivety. That naivety to an extent helped to protect her from the misfortune she was born under. Ignorance could help be a shield.

Shen Qingqiu's gentler nature around Ning Yingying was awkward. He held back sharp words, and did his best to give plain simple instructions instead. He kept himself from explaining exactly why Ning Yingying's attempts were painful to be around. When the classes were assigned punishments he would leave a path for Ning Yingying to avoid it by some exception that proved she was outside it.

Ning Yingying was, perhaps, the best disciple he had on Qing Jing. Shen Qingqiu was terrified of ruining her. He was, after all, still a man. But for her, he would do his best to hold back those monstrous impulses.

And he would punish any other beasts that sniffed around her.

No one had spoken up and taken responsibility for this. Shen Qingqiu had very thoroughly dug into everything that was being said about it. Shen Qingqiu did not have good connections for following up on rumors within Cang Qiong. His control over Qing Jing was absolute, but off it finding out what was going on was much more difficult. Thankfully Shang Qinghua was a cowering little rat that easily broke when threatened and shared everything he had heard.

Shen Qingqiu felt torn. The father was unknown. Yue Qingyuan was happy. There was an opportunity here-but it involved acknowledging a baby. And having to deal with it.

The rumors about the Warm Red Pavilion would play in his favor this time. Shen Qingqiu quietly made movements, and started to set things up. The news that Shen Qingqiu had taken advantage of the sect leader would spread soon enough.

Then he would just have to guilt Yue Qingyuan into not revealing the truth, and his position was secure.

When Shang Qinghua came back babbling with excitement over what he called cocoa beans Shen Qingqiu was rightfully suspicious of the situation. Especially since it proved to be a mundane type of seeds from a tree. There was absolutely no reason for Shang Qinghua to be so enthusiastic about it.

Shang Qinghua swore up and down it would be worth it however, and created what he called a chocolate sauce. He eagerly told Shen Qingqiu to dip a sliced fruit from the platter into it. Shen Qingqiu eyed him with suspicion before lightly dipping a strawberry into it.

The richness of the chocolate sauce hit hard. It was so sweet, far sweeter than the strawberry itself, and yet mixing with it perfectly. The slight bitterness of the chocolate sauce that hovered on his tongue was addictive. Forcing himself to eat the dipped strawberry slowly felt like torture. This was a treat fit for gods.

"Well?" Shang Qinghua asked eagerly.

Shen Qingqiu sneered at him. "I still don't see what the fuss is about." He reached out and dipped an orange slice into the chocolate sauce next, testing how it would mix. The tang on his tongue tingled as the sweetness of the chocolate washed through his mouth.

"So you don't want me to serve this at our next meeting?" Shang Qinghua teased.

"I don't tell you what to do," Shen Qingqiu sniffed haughtily.

"I have you covered." Shang Qinghua grinned widely and dipped a banana slice in. An obscene moan left him as he popped the chocolate dipped banana slice into his mouth. Shen Qingqiu shot him a sharp dirty look for that. At least he had had the dignity to keep his own pleasure quiet.

Such a rich delicacy was truly a pleasure worth living for.
