Hot take but i genuinely think qijiu is more heartbreaking than satosugu and i need people to hear me out
Yue qingyuan spends basically his entire life trying to make up for one mistake, and shen jiu spends basically his entire life believing that the person who promised to come back for him chose not to.
The tragedy is that the misunderstanding lasted so long that it became part of who they were. Meanwhile satosugu at least got to stand in front of each other again.
The thing that frustrates me every time I think about qijiu is that people often reduce the entire relationship to a misunderstanding, as though everything would have been solved if Yue Qingyuan had simply sat Shen Jiu down and explained himself. I donot think that is true at all, because the misunderstanding is only the beginning of the problem rather than the problem itself.
People talk about satosugu as one of the most tragic relationships in any mlm media, and it absolutely is tragic, but there is still a level of understanding between them that qijiu never gets. Like at least satosugu got a final conversation.
