Elven word of the day, 407/?
Qualmisan from early Quenya
It’s a name for Tuesday but it literally means the day of the agony of death.
This is derived from qualmë meaning death agony and sana, an archaic word for day
Apparently Tuesday was quite a morbid day for Tolkien or his elves because in addition to that, Tuesday was also called Fuinen, in honor of an abandoned name for Nienna meaning death goddess.
Aldúya meaning day of the trees was the most commonly used name for Tuesday in Quenya and Orgaladh meaning the same is the most commonly used name in Sindarin.
So if you ever have a bad Tuesday, as I frequently do, here’s something.
