The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes
âłÂ A Scandal in Bohemia, Part 1Â
That last gif might be my favorite :)Â
The last gif is classic Holmes not giving a shit about titles. If you were a dick, heâd let you know. :-D
Smashing Mr Rathbone.
3/â screencaps of Sherlock Holmes
I had this around somewhereâŠ
haha, I love how real this sleeping position is . . . itâs perfect.Â
(x)(x)
I miss you.
Donât ever leave me again.
They began sleeping together after Baskerville.
It started with John suffering nightmares (again), then Sherlock joining him (a first), until one night they both woke with a start and mutually sought the other out for comfort and assurance of life. Neither of them spoke ill of the idea of sharing a bed, but neither of them thought it would lead to them curled so intimately close together; John holding Sherlock possessively and Sherlock clinging on. They didnât complain when it happened a few nights later, then the night after, and the night after, until sharing a bed became the only way either man could sleep.
And Sherlock had been sleeping more and more, John noticed. It worried him, but Sherlock shrugged it off; said the influx of cases, though appreciated and healthy, left him worn. John accepted it without question.
After Sherlock killed himself, he began to wonder if it had been something more.
He was on two anti-depressants and one sleep aide. None of the medications worked. He tossed, he turned, he pawed at the air where Sherlockâs warm form used to lay, he struggled to breathe without a weight on his chest (funny how that worked); he couldnât sleep and didnât want to sleep, but passed out anyway and clung to the nightmares where he could see Sherlockâs face just one more time, try to call him down just one more time, tell him he loved him and needed him and God damn I miss you please just come home.
He would awaken with a start, grip the spot where Sherlockâs arm used to be - the once-present, soft pulse which used to lull him off to dreamless slumber - and would grip his shirt, inhale a trembling breath (the air smelled like illness and sorrow and not like Sherlockâs too-expensive shampoo in his mop of curls tucked under Johnâs chin), and try, try, try to piece together what went wrong.
He never fully could. There was a reason for that, which he would find out two years down the line on a stormy night when Sherlock Holmes came through the front door, bloodied and bruised and skinny and pale and alive.
A lie. It had all been a lie. One which saved his life, yes, but the endless nights of pining for scent and warmth and pulse and Sherlock were a waste. He told himself they would sleep apart because he was so angry and conflicted with Sherlockâs return. It didnât matter what they began to have years ago; didnât matter how much they missed each other. He was hurt, he was mad, he was stubborn and wanted everything to be okay. He thought Sherlock coming back would be a relief, not a weight.
He tossed. He turned. He sighed. He cried. He laid on his side, an unusual position, and stared out into the darkness where he knew Sherlock could have been. Should have been.
A silhouette in the doorway at half-one in the morning caught his still-conscious eye. He didnât say a word as Sherlock slowly, hesitantly climbed on the bed, but looked baffled as he posed himself not lying beside and atop John as in days of old, but holding onto him like he was a lifeline. He tangled himself on John; latched onto the warmth of his skin and the security of his presence and didnât, couldnât, let go.
Sherlockâs hair didnât smell like expensive shampoo; it smelled of rain. His skin was no longer warm; it was cold and Sherlockâs thin frame shivered every so often.
Yet, despite all that, his pulse was loud, screaming, making itself known, saying over and  over again, I am alive and I am home and I am and always have been yours.
Maybe thatâs why John wrapped himself around Sherlock and damned his anger and upset: because the feeling of his pulse meant Sherlock was alive. Because his nightmares and daydreams could be real. Because he could finally hold him once more.
âDonât ever leave me again,â he choked out against Sherlockâs neck.
Then, the I love yous and the I missed yous and the sobbing spilled out without restraint, and Sherlock held on the entire time, taking in Johnâs smell of tea and very vague gun smoke, the warmth of his flesh despite its aged  pallor, and the sound of the soldierâs heartbeat sounding off like a wardrum in his ears, answering his own.
âNever again,â Sherlock promised. The two words held more mean than most people could decipher. But then and there, in that night of longing and reunited and hurting and healing, John could see every meaning in his reply clear as day.
They fell into familiar, dreamless, shared slumber, tangled together in delicate desperation, as the storm pressed relentlessly on.
Oh. My. God. An accompanying fic.
Itâs so beautiful. I canât. Let me love you.
This is one of the most beautiful fics Iâve read. Love the art as well, they both fit so much.Â

Now that the new year has begun
âšLet them be gayâš
Itâs been nearly a year where the fuck are the gay Holmes adaptations
Itâs been nearly a year where the fuck are the gay Holmes adaptations
Iâm going to be grateful and acknowledge the existence of Sherlock and Co which, although doesnât include (or so far doesnât) a gay Holmes, it has an autistic Holmes with a very strong relationship with Watson which I absolutely love so this year hasnât been a total failure on that account.
I do expect next year to have more johnlock so Hollywood or just the bbc needs to get their acts together.
Currently expecting more from 2024
It's that time of year again fellas.
2025, please don't be disappointing- let the old detectives be gay.
Please SOMEONE find some courage for God's sake just let them kiss

CHECK OUT WATSONS SKETCHBOOK!!!
Right here on tumblr, from the creator behind the witch boy graphic novel series if you've heard of that (among other things!!), a webcomic about the boys is being created!!!
@contact-guy
Its amazing, going through all the cases in the order the creator has analyzed to find they should be, with incredible drama and also the GAYS.
Think what if Dr. Watson drew alongside his writings, along with interludes and chapters about these two lovely old lads trying to figure out their v complicated relationship in Victorian England and also Sherlock Holmes's Weird and Dangerous Life. It's currently in the middle of the Final Problem, which has been so good it's killing me, ughh my boys,,,,
Its awesome and silly and dramatic and just so so cool and made by a totally awesome artist with an incredible style.
In summary, you wanna see gay holmes?? Surprise surprise, I got your back, join the rest of us obsessing over Watson's sketchbook!!!!
Thoughts on "The Adventure of the Solitary Cyclist"
This story contains another totally awesome woman. Why does Irene Adler get all the press, seriously?Â
This totally awesome womanâs name is also Violet. Because Conan Doyle clearly really likes the name Violet.Â
Holmes is busy when Violet shows up, distracted by another case, but Violet is determined that he help her and refuses to take no for an answer, so, â[w]ith a resigned air and a somewhat weary smile,â Holmes agrees to listen to her story.Â
There is a kind of adorable moment here where Violet mentions her boyfriend, and Holmes is like, âOh, a *boyfriend,* huh?â in this teasing manner and Violet goes all blushy and honestly, Iâm reading it like, âWhat the hell is this, Sherlock Holmes? How are you so *adorable*?â Holmes seems more taken with Violet, honestly, than he ever does with Irene Adler, although in a protective, almost fatherly way thatâs completely disarming. âIt is part of the settled order of Nature that such a girl should have followers,â Holmes tells Watson after Violet departs.Â
Holmes sends Watson to investigate Violetâs story because he is, as has been mentioned, too busy to go himself. Watson is very pleased with his actions, âin high spirits,â having âdone a fairly good morningâs work.â When he gets home, however, Holmes is singularly unimpressed. âYou really have done remarkably badly,â he tells him, as he lists the things Watson did incorrectly. Watson gets a bit annoyed in reaction, but Holmes seems to think he should be shrugging off the criticism: âWell, well, my dear sir, donât look so depressed.âÂ
Holmes decides to go down and do his own investigating and returns all cut and bruised and absolutely delighted with himself, calling his country pub fight âdelicious.â
Violet is abducted, and one of the characters frets that they may be too late to âsave her from the worst fate that can befall a woman.â Which is not being murdered. Which is not even being raped. But is, apparently, being forcefully married. Everyone freaks out about this wedding. I mean, one guy shoots the groom in order to save Violet from having to be married to him. And Iâm like, âSeriously? Even in Victorian times, this would have been a valid wedding? Like, keep your heads, people.â At least Holmes agrees with me. He puts a pistol to the shooterâs head and tells everyone to stop with the violence, pointing out that âa forced marriage is no marriage.â Thank you, Mr. Holmes. You, at least, speak sense.Â
One of the abductors demands to know who Holmes is, and he says his name, and the abductor exclaims, âGood Lord!â I kind of love that moment. Holmes is like, âYou have heard of me, I see.â Fabulous.Â
The man who tried to save Violet from shooting her groom explains to Holmes and Watson that he loved Violet and âcouldnât bearâ for her to leave him: âEven if she couldnât love me, it was a great deal to me just to see her dainty form about the house, and to hear the sound of her voice.â Watson gets annoyed about that: â[Y]ou call that love,âŠbut I should call it selfishness,â he tells the man, harshly. I have to say that I wonder what Holmes thinks about it all. Holmes, who continues to keep Watson with him even after Watson marries, who insists on Watson moving back in with him when the marriage ends.Â
Iâve always liked The Solitary Cyclist, itâs one of the less commonly adapted stories but itâs always been a pleasure to read (and the Granada ep is great, as usual). I agree, Violet is awesome.Â
And that last bullet point is pretty interesting to meâŠIf Watson thinks itâs selfish for this guy to keep this girl around who âcouldnât loveâ him, and yet happily lets Holmes call him away from his wife, and moves right back in with him at Holmesâs request after selling off his medical practiceâŠThen I guess thatâs not a case of Holmes just keeping someone around who canât love him, since Watson doesnât stand for that kind of thing but very willingly spends his time with Holmes. At any rate itâs a good line to think about in terms of Holmes and Watsonâs relationship; could be seen as proof that Watson likes Holmesâs âselfishnessâ (and probably doesnât view it as selfishness, in contrast to what this character from SOLI was doing with Violet), or could be a source of angst depending on what else is going on in the timeline around the time of this case.
Inktober 2016Â - Sherlock Holmes
this is art
Heâs sleeping now, sir. â€ïž
This scene is everything to me. He can be such an impatient, moody, needy little detective who shoots up her walls, has crazy mothers coming in at all hours, throws his stuff about like a kid after school, causes fires, chemical hazards, heâs a bloody menace! But she loves him as he does her. A blessed dynamic between the two.
Mrs. Hudson was signing the adoption papers the moment Holmes and Watson came to look at the apartment
Jeremy Brett was perfect as the Victorian Holmes. So sad that he died so young.

đ«Łđ€ poor John, naughty Sherlock đ€đ«Ł
Fan canon vs bbc canon
Fanon Mycroft: - controls the entire British government - is omni present - can single-handedly make jerks who are mean to Sherlock disappear without a trace - can get Sherlock out of literally ANY sticky situation - can make any crimes/killings/drug charges that Sherlock made go away - always has everything under control - is god
Canon Mycroft: - can barely control anything - struggles to keep Moriarty locked up - canât take down Magnussen - is barely able to control sociopathic sister to stay in prison - has to whore around to ensure Sherlock doesnât get incarcerated - almost got himself and/or Sherlock killed in sherrinford - has a sad fridge
Donât forget to add, âthrows up at the sight of blood/murder
feel free to add more xâD
and also
fanon john: - always kind - the only one to appreciate sherlock - always compliments sherlock when sherlock is being brilliant with his deduction skills - the only one who treats sherlock like a human being with feelings - has infinite patience and is eternally kind forever and can never get angry or do sherlock any wrong - always wears ugly-cute jumpers
canon john: - kind of a douche, laughs at people - blames sherlock when anything goes wrong - always stops sherlock from explaining his deductions because sherlock âis a show offâ - overlooks 1001 things sherlock has done for him and calls him a âmachineâ or âcockâ or a âserial liarâ - only wears ugly jumpers twice in the entire show and is eternally trying to change his fashion statement to run away from the shadows of ugly jumpers
meanwhile,
fanon molly: - either completely nonexistant - or is single-handedly the central most important human in the entire universe in sherlolly fics
canon molly: - occasionally appears for rare but important scenes to progress the story narrative - tries her best but almost always gets screwed over - eternal pining
These are too funny. Fanon Moriarty: -thinks about sex more than crime -is secretly a soft, precious muffin -frequently uses foul language -gaygaygaygaygay -says âdearâ and âdarlingâ every other scene -strangely archaic dialogue -keeps reusing things he already said in the show -had a deeply tragic past -loves Glee and Doctor Who -is high-key in love with Sherlock Canon Moriarty: -flirtatious personality -unapologetic king of crime who would not fall in love with OCs or cry in front of anyone without shooting them afterward -basically never uses foul language -is not Andrew Scott; flirts with both men (Sherlock, helicopter henchman) and women (Molly, Kitty Riley, girl who gave him gum), described his time as Jim from IT as âplaying gay,â which implies he was acting a part -says âdearâ once and has never said âdarlingâ -actually said the word âdoofusâ before (I burst out laughing the first time because it was so childish) -delightfully unpredictable, never does or says the same thing twice -might have had a dark past, but clearly doesnât give a crap -watched Glee once while attempting to seduce a woman to get to his enemy -desperately wants to kill Sherlock and destroy his reputation for the sake of relieving boredom *Bonus - has been implied as a cannibal twice??? What the frick, Mofftiss O.o
LOL, accurate. Somebody please do this for Sherlock, Greg, Mary, and Mrs Hudson. I tried to think of something but I just finished traveling for one week with barely enough sleep.
Fanon Sherlock: - able to solve every case easily every time - very eloquent, uses long ass complex sentences with fancy words - can deduce anything and usually always gets it exactly right - always has a clever trick and is always ten steps ahead of the villains - talks in formal archaic mannerisms - always refers to Mycroft as âbrother mineâ
Canon Sherlock: - struggles to solve cases. Nearly gets killed in almost every case - almost always gets it wrong or outwitted by his enemies - thinks heâs a step ahead of his foes but actually overlooks some things and is actually losing - not as clever as he wishes to be - says things like âlaterzâ or âwho heâ - âhey broâ - âum sisâ - hides his smoking habits from mummy and blames Mycroft if caught
OMG this:Â â-might have had a dark past, but clearly doesnât give a crapâ
Iâm not going to suggest we take life lessons from Moriarty, but we should all definitely be this.
Fanon Mrs. Hudson:
Flits about making tea.Â
Is a scatterbrained old lady.Â
Has no life outside of John and Sherlock.Â
Clucks about making disapproving noises.
Constantly needs rescuing.
Canon Mrs. Hudson:
Is a sexually active old lady into kinky shit thatâs none of your business.Â
Blazes it on the regular.Â
Used to manage a drug empire in Miami.Â
Can drive a sports car like Mario Andretti.Â
Used to strip.
Is smart enough to hide a secret mobile phone from an international assassin even while being beaten and threatened because she ainât no snitch.Â
Can steal shit off famous detective Sherlock Holmes without him noticing.Â
Can stuff Sherlock Holmes into the trunk of her car when he annoys her.Â
Tells off Mycroft Holmes all the time and he still gets her off scot-free with the police simply because she called him.Â
Hired Sherlock Holmes to make sure her husband got the death penalty for his crimes and she got all his money - in process, had Sherlock Holmes fall in love with her and treat her like his surrogate mother.Â
Is only person allowed to cuddle Sherlock Holmes.Â
âIs only person allowed to cuddle Sherlock Holmesâ THIS IS SO TRUE
Fanon Greg Lestrade:
Mr Good guy
Always ready to help Sherlock
Quite normal actually
Finds Sherlock slightly annoying but puts up with him.
Cool Calm and Collected
Not half bad at doing detective work
Canon Greg Lestrade:
Puts feet up on desk and eats donut
Is the personification of Do no Harm but Take No Shit
Kicks his car in frustration
Actually thought Sherlock moaned when kissing Molly, instead of it being his phone. (How was he made a detective?)
Will say what he thinks
Enjoys poking fun at Sherlock and John to some degree. (âCan you lower your vioce?â âNOT REALLYâ
Donât forget ârecords video of Sherlock when drugged by anaestheticâ
And:
- âignores signs of excessive violence when it is perpetrated against Sherlockâ (see cut on the lip in TEH, see Johnâs bruised knuckles and the account that John had to be pulled off of SherlockâŠ)
this post is a MASTERPIECE
This is absolutely amazing! (Iâd be happy about about fanon / canon Mary, Iâd love to read that)
Fanon Mary: - 100% unadulterated cold bitch - has no personality - fully, irredeemably an evil asshole - hates Sherlock with burning passion - enslaves John because sheâs just so despicable - is Moriartyâs agent and the one who aimed all 20 guns at John in the pool in tgg - is super evil. The most evil. There is no god. Even the devils in hell are enslaved by her
Canon Mary: - is cheeky and sarcastic but humorous - actually quite lovely to some. But can also rub some people off the wrong way - is desperate to run away from assassin past - pretty selfish but not inherently evil or despicable - she seems to be fond of Sherlock (as long as he isnât digging into her past) - just wants to try and have a normal domestic life (even though she knows the part will eventually catch up to her)
Fanon Mary:
- cheats on John with David whoâs of course the father of her baby.
Omg so true!!!!
And the irony is that in fanon when she cheats on John, itâs such an unforgivable act and so treacherous of her to do so and Maryâs inability to commit to the relationship shows just how irredeemably evil she is in every wayâŠ
Meanwhile in bbc canon, John cheats on Mary. Every time she picks up their baby and takes care of the baby, thatâs when John is texting and flirting with another girl, and he also intended to go further. But nope itâs not the same, itâs not treacherous or bad in any way, itâs all forgiven, because itâs John Watson so itâs ok
