Honestly, Tvyek is pretty miraculous. It’s permeable to water vapor but not to water, it’s nearly impossible to tear, but can be easily cut. It’s cheap and made entirely without binding chemicals. In addition to being used for wristbands, it’s used to wrap construction sites to keep out water during construction, for tear-resistant envelopes at Fed-Ex, coveralls for mechanics, and my wallet, actually.

Fun tip, though it looks like paper, Tyvek is plastic, and cannot be recycled with paper.

Guess who's getting called for jury duty

This one time, at the last job where I worked for someone else, one of my coworkers, a South African nun, was called away for jury duty and was gone from the office for a full month. It was kind of a pain, because we all had to cover for her.

But when she came back, it was with an air of vicious pride. Apparently she'd been put on the jury deliberating on some young homeless trans woman the police were clearly trying to frame.

Thing is, my coworker's income all went to her order, and her order paid her. So she got paid the same no matter how long deliberations went on. So she sat for for a month, refusing to budge till the jury agreed to leave the girl alone, getting her little paycheck same as ever. And it worked at the girl went free and my coworker was smug about it and it was all very cute, and we didn't mind covering for her.

That said, I'm not a nun, so we'll see how this goes for me.
