I love how they put their confessions after each other

Ran: That’s ridiculous. Shinichi doesn’t have a crush on me!

Sonoko: Yes, he does.

Heiji: Yes, he does.

The entire DCMK fandom: Yes, he does.

Shinichi: Yes, I do.

I Can’t stress enough how much this moment explains why Shinichi and Ran are the perfect soulmates. Shinichi who normally would head over the moment he hears a scream in any situation didn’t want to go, for the first time he had something more important to him than a case. I have never seen him denying a case as much as he did here because Ran mattered more. He just wanted to confess to the girl he loves and no case could have intrigued him at that moment. 

Ran on the other hand knows him so well, she knows how uneasy he would feel if he doesn’t go, she knows that it will rip a big part of who he is and she would never allow that. She knows what he loves, who he is and what he does and she fully accepts him the way he is. Shinichi is meant to be there, at that moment no matter how hard he tried to suppress it (and I think he really did well for a deduction freak) she knows that deep inside, not letting him go would hurt him. So she smartly does it, without letting him feel guilty and telling him that she will wait. 

They both do their best for each other and to be fair, love is a new field for Shinichi, as in,  things only started developing seriously after he became Conan and that’s when he decided to take a step. So considering all of this, the fact that he denied the case is very significant.. Shinichi would never give up on a case but he THOUGHT of doing that for Ran’s sake and that says a lot and she on the other hand would never let this happen. That’s why they are perfect for each other.
