If a 24 year old and an 18-year-old are in the same grade in college and in the same classes they are literally peers... We met at work study... You can very much be peers with an age gap once you hit adulthood.
Like I said 18 doesn’t make you magically on the same playing field as older adults. Working at the same place or going to the same school doesn’t give an 18 year old and a 25 year old the same amount of life experience, it doesn’t make the 18 year old’s brain suddenly developed, it doesn’t change the social pressures around the 18 year old, it doesn’t change the societal stigma/pressure around the 18 year old, etc. That doesn’t mean they can’t associate with each other but there are obvious boundaries the 25 year old should have when interacting with a teenager.
