and so it begins...
lord help us
just an fyi - saying you hate alinas ending in ruin and rising cause you think it makes her weak and isn't powerful enough isn't the feminist girlboss take you think it is. please stop.
I'm re-reading the harry potter books and i'm like half way through ootp but I would just like to say that there are characters who I thought I didn't hate that much but I now despise so i'd thought i'd give you all a wee run down. so here we go -
Certain Harry Potter characters and my honest opinion on them:
Severus Snape: I have always been anti Snape myself and never really liked him even after the whole 'Harry i'm good but only cause I thought your mum was fit' thing but he is just so so awful I actually can't stand it. His blatant bias towards Slytherin drives me right up the wall and the way he treats students frankly shouldn't be allowed. See when he told Hermione that he didn't see a difference in her teeth after they got jinxed? straight up punched the book. not joking. His behaviour is abysmal and idc if he stood up for Harty like twice, he will forever be a permanent fixture in my bad books. He does have unexplainable dilf energy though which makes it a very strange experience to read.
Draco Malfoy: After spending some time on tictok I had somehow come to the conclusion that Draco wasn't that terrible but re reading these books is like a whole new experience. Let's just say that if I was at Hogwarts at all, this boy would be getting punched 24/7. He so vile to everyone around him and the whole 'weasley is our king' thing should never have been allowed, I was personally very glad when Harry and George attacked him. Also, side note - the really need better group discipline at Hogwarts cause the whole mob mentality thing they have going on is not it. I'll admit that Draco gets better later on - Not selling Harry to the evil wizard was highlight - but nothing will ever let me get passed just how horrid he is.
Professor Umbridge: ooooooo, now I knew I hated Umbridge but re reading the fifth book right now I can proudly say that I have never wanted someone to be on the floor dead than I do with this excuse for a human.
Pansy Parkinson: racist ass bitch. When she called Angelinas braids 'worms' I actually wanted a full on brawl. If I ever manage to shift, I know who i'm heading straight for. Also, can she not shriek for like two seconds? I swear, she needs a better laugh cause if I have to read that she shrieked at some lousy insult that malfoy thought was funny one more time I will actually loose it.
Crabbe and Goyle: desperately need a life
The Patil twins: absolute icons, I will have NO Padma and Parvati Patil slander anywhere near me whatsoever.
Dumbledore: I'm personally quite neutral on the whole 'Dumbledore- good or evil' thing but I will say two things on the matter. On one hand - Harry was obviously blinded by his obvious daddy issues whenever Dumbledore came up but on the other he did make me feel safe when reading the books so take from that what you will. I do think though that he needs to do a better job with teachers in the school and dealing with bullying.
Queen Minerva: Deserves the world. Arguably the best teacher at hogwarts and doesn't take any of Umbridge's shit. Icon if I ever saw one. She is a stable figure for Harry and treats all students the same from every house unlike other teachers *cough snape* and she's always right. Like no matter what. Minerva McGonagall could tell me that 2+1=7 and i'd believe her.
Cho Chang: I will absolutely, and without fear, fight ANYONE who dares to come for this girl. She not only was hella cool and also so friendly but was also not afraid to kick ass. I feel like Joanne wrote Cho so real (even though it was so obviously accidentally cause miss joanne can't write women for the life of her) and she just resonated with me so much. Like the way she mourned, the way she'd act around Harry when she liked him was just so .. me? And i will stand by this girl till the day I die. Period.
Hey... u wanna co-parent my kid? No homo tho ahaha.... I could make you legal guardian? Not in a gay way ... obviously...ha
Eddie Diaz had never been sure of anything.
Sure he could decide what to have for breakfast in the morning, or what colour of shirt to wear that day. But when it came down to the big decisions, the big, life altering decisions, he always took a bit longer to be sure of what he wanted.
When he was thinking of moving Chris to a different school, it took him a bit longer to decide if it was the right move. The teachers were nice, of course, and the school looked lovely, but there was just the tiniest ‘what if’ nagging at the back of his head. What if the kids were mean? What if something happened? Good thing Carla was there to nudge him along or else he was sure he would have been there for at least another hour.
Eddie wasn’t sure about introducing Christ to Ana either. It as a big step in his mind even though everyone else seemed to be able to simplify it down. Doubts just kept popping up every time he thought about it. He wasn’t sure how Chris would react, he didn’t want to push anything onto the kid, after all Ana was the first woman he’d dated since Shannon had died. He wanted to be sure. He was so glad when Chris seemed to like her and greeted her at the door with hugs. Eddie was sure his sigh of relief as audible.
But when Eddie felt that bullet pierce his chest, when he looked up and spotted Buck in front of him, a shocked look splattered across his face, stained with blood - Eddies blood - all doubt shot out the window. But just be sure that you’re following your heart. The world around him went silent as Eddie fell to the hard concrete, his body slamming onto the ground. He watched as Buck was pushed to the ground just a few meters in front of him. So close. He reached out to him, he needed him, he was sure. Bucks eyes never left his as out of the corner of his eye he saw the dark puddle seep out from under him and onto the road. His arm was heavy when he tried to move it further, walking his fingers along the road to aid him, he just wanted to touch him, to hold him. Buck. He was sure. His eyelids felt dense as he struggled to keep them open but alas, the darkness started closing in from all around. As his vision blurred he kept his eyes trailed on the figure before him. Buck.
I need season 2 of Shadow and Bone to come out right now please! Is it my fault that I binged it all in one night? Maybe. Do I deserve to suffer without content for another year? no
911 fans before 4x13: Shoot Eddie! Buddie angst! Shoot him!
911 fans after 4x13: Thanks! I hate it!
The way I started out being a casual viewer of 911 but slowly and surely fell in love with the two himbo firefighters that dont realise that they're in love with each other and now i'm obsessed and spend all my time thinking about it? Yeah.
Ok unpopular opinion but I really don’t want Buddie to go canon in the finale, I’m really aiming for that s l o w burn cannon ya know, the most I want from the finale is an Eddie/Ana break up and a clear indication that either both of them have feelings for eachother of Eddie has some repressed feelings for Buck I just want something to happen that will make the casual non-buddie viewers really catch on to what’s going on and then they’ll go cannon in the 5a finale or somewhere in 5b
What damn fanfiction did the writers study to write 4x13. Istg. They heard us moaning about how we write buddie better and they were like you know what my gs, bet, let me just copy your fanfiction.
I need people to not talk over me or other brown people when we say we are absolutely GUTTED about the fact that Amita had to watch a white woman in brownface peform the stunts she TRAINED FOR!
Inej Ghafa was so important to us! To me! She is a badass brown girl who stays loving and compassionate despite the trauma she faces, she defends herself and she holds on to her faith and she falls in love and she puts herself first and has goals and aims and is unapologetically herself! She's so dynamic and real and flawed and human and perfect! She made me feel SEEN in a way no other character in fiction ever has! I finally felt like I could write about a protagonist like myself and be well received one day! I found out Amita was cast and how passionate she was about Inej in the same way we all are!
Amita put her heart and soul into Inej and we LOVE HER for it! She performed her role MAGNIFICENTLY and worked so hard to be able to do it. She reread the book multiple times! She trained for the acrobatics and the knife skills all on her own even before the show started filming! She gained literal scars because of how hard she worked! She gave Inej Ghafa her all because like us, she finally felt SEEN in a piece of media and wanted to do her justice and She DID!
And then we all find out that we now have to share Inej Ghafa with a WHITE WOMAN who did BROWNFACE and the showrunners and producers just let it happen?? That Amita had to be told that all her hard work wasn't enough and that instead of a brown stunt woman, a white woman was brought instead and she had to sit and watch HER character be performed by someone who doesn't even understand the importance of her?
It feels disgusting. Inej feels tainted. Like she isn't OURS anymore. Like she doesn't belong to us brown girls anymore when we had been waiting for her for so long!
And to know that Amita trained SO HARD and ended up having to smile through the pain when a white stunt double was donning her skin color to do a stunt a BROWN stunt woman deserved to have been given the opportunity to perform, even if Amita couldn't fit the requirements for whatever reason? Inej Ghafa belongs to the brown women. She deserved to be shared with only a brown woman as a stunt double. She deserved to be played by a fellow brown woman who understood her significance!
It's disgusting. It's appalling and I HATE everyone who had a hand in making this happen. My stomach roiled in disgust when I found out. I wanted to scream and cry. Amita was so brave for having to tolerate that happen and be unable to do anything about it. I am so proud of her but the fact is she shouldn't HAVE to have experienced that kind of racism as part of her job to bring Inej to life for us.
And on top of that, they made Zoya, another brown girl in the show, racist for absolutely NO REASON. It served 0 plot purpose. The show would have been exactly the same without it. This character trait didn't even exist for Zoya in the books.
Please do NOT talk over brown women when we say that we are tired and hurt and upset and angry! Please help us hold Netflix accountable because in no way is this okay! Netflix and Eric and Leigh have been toting Shadow and Bone for diversity points and meanwhile have been silencing their poc cast in the background and forcing them to watch as more and more opportunities slip by them. As they are told once again that what they can do is nothing compared to what a white person can do.
Amita Suman deserves better. Desi women deserve better. POC deserve better.
AND as a note cuz I've seen white people talk about this: we DO NOT want the show cancelled! Thats avoiding the problem! Not fixing it! We demand a better production crew. There are so many POC in this cast: Archie, Jessie, Kit, Sujaya and Amita have put their heart and soul into these characters despite the racism behind the scenes. They deserve to continue to play these characters they love and put so much hard work into bringing to life while the production crew that's being racist behind the scenes get sacked!
Edit: Non POC can absolutely reblog this! I made this post so people would know and so that the message about how not okay this is could spread. I encourage you all to please help raise our voices because some days it feels no one else cares but us, especially when it comes to desi people.
This is so so important, please take time to read it. Hold them accountable. No one deserves this sort of treatment in a place that they're meant to be respected.
As someone who watched the 911 lone star crossover without having watched 911 first I swear I genuinely thought that Buck and Eddie were dating. Like no joke. IMAGINE my disappointment when I watched 911 and found out they weren't 🧍♀️
I CANNOT EVEN DESCRIBE TO YOU HOW EXCITED I AM FOR WYLAN VAN SUNSHINE TO SHOW UP IN SHADOW AND BONE. BRING HIM TO ME NOW PLEASE.
Any time i see something about the Shadow and Bone show i want to simultaneously throw myself into a river and scream with joy at the top of my lungs.
My little gatekeeper ass can't handle this type of pressure.

• I love the fact that they made Alina part shu. Not only for the diversity but also helped portray her isolation more.
• Show Mal deserves rights. Also poor Mal couldn't go a day without getting an injury that made him cough up blood lol.
• When Kaz turned up I went feral. The music scoring in the background was outstanding.
• The music was amazing all the time actually.
• Jespers one liners.
• WHEN KAZ SAID TO JESPER THAT HE ALWAYS ASKES FOR A DEMO EXPERT. HONEY YOU HAVE NO IDEA.
• Inej.
• The keftas were amazing omg.
• Milo the goat.
• The whole conductor story line and the way they connected the crows in with the main trilogy story. I was a bit nervous before hand that they would mess it up I actually really enjoyed it.
• Sorry but the darkling absolutely drives me up the wall. No offence if you like him just not my cup of tea. And when he brought Alina those flowers I swear my blood boiled.
• I actually didn't mind that he revealed his name earlier. It makes it easier for non-book fans to follow along and although i'm lowkey a gate keeper, I like things that are accessible for all people.
• Being a book fan though, I loved looking at all the characters reactions to different things and picking up on that. It really shows how much the actors cared about their characters.
• WHEN THE CROWS STOLE THE DARKLINGS CARRIAGE PLS.
• Nina and Mattais' chemistry was off the charts and the whaling hut scene was just as i had imagined it.
• Jesper hooking up with the stable boy.
• Alina climbing into the crows trunk by herself pls that was too funny.
• How they normalised LGBTQ+ characters and relationships. I know it should already be normalised but it's really refreshing to see.
• Just any scene with David in it. Especially when he raised his hand to speak.
• Freddy Carter's acting.
Edit: I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT FIVAN OMG
Overall the show was amazing and I need to get a life. I can't wait until season 2 so I can see Wylan and Nikolai :)
okay but just so the white fans remember - yeah it would be great to have Bucky flirt with with a man and be confirmed bi, but diminishing his flirtation with Sarah this episode is just straight up racist. You can’t pretend as if Bucky, a typically handsome white man, flirting with Sarah, a widowed darkskin mother of two (who is also gorgeous btw), is somehow less important or ‘groundbreaking’ simply because she’s a woman. In media, men like Bucky are never written to show interest in women like Sarah because of racism and if you try dismiss this attraction or complain about it under the guise of it somehow being biphobia, you’re just being an asshole. This is just as amazing as if Bucky had flirted with a guy, so while you can still wish for bi!Bucky confirmation or ship Sambucky (which I do!), don’t you dare try write this rep off.
