cant say whether it was yumi hotta's intention or not but the way she wrote adolescent depression has been one of the best depictions i've ever witnessed. hikaru's coming of age story might be one of the top best and it leaves me with a bittersweet sort of feeling that he continues to play go with a heart full of love but is still isolated in his grief... the rematch with isumi made me want to die but i also felt such an overwhelming sense pride towards hikaru, and i’m glad he found solace in realizing he could still pursue what he loved so deeply, and in those moments, be as close to sai as he possibly could.... i just hope that one day hikaru could be satisfied with himself and say with confidence that he was sai's pupil...

Hikaru no go is a sorrowful story about grief and the loss of childhood that pretends to be a light-hearted sports shounen and it always makes me want to bang my head into a wall. AUGH hikaru...that smiling child vanished somewhere into that solitary room. What are you supposed to do when the person who was so important to you that it devoured your life just leaves. To everyone else Hikaru suddenly became a lonely person who would look at the game he loved with such sad eyes. auugjggbbg hikaru

This week's special short was basically Law trying to be a decent vet, while Luffy solved everything with punches.

the deku i know and love would never say something like this 👇 for example

what he says here directly contradicts everything we learn about the character from chapter 1 forwards

being a hero is the very essence of deku’s character. it’s his core. his dreams, his motivation, they all revolve around him being a hero. so how could he put being a teacher above that? how can Thee Midoriya Izuku be happy with being a hero when he has the time, but a full time teacher?

and this is not derivative of a character development we seen he him go through throughout the story (like what happens with bakugo)

there is no natural progression leading up to this change of heart of his about being a hero

it’s something that just happens in the epilogue. it’s inconsistent.

Honestly nobody is doing it like Trafalgar D. Water Law. He’s German. He hates bread. He keeps to himself. He gravitates towards extroverts. He has a nasty reputation. He doesn’t kill people during fights. His first appearance resembles Salad Fingers who smokes weed. He’s weak to cute things and one of his best friends is a fluffy bear. His moniker is the Surgeon of Death because people thinks his power is creepy. He wants to become a doctor like his parents. He looks emo and edgy with his tattoos. The DEATH tattoo on his hand is the reminder he gave himself during childhood of what’s at stake while treating patients, and the rest is to honor a loved one. He’s stressed 24/7 like he’s a workaholic. He spends all his time napping against his emotionally supportive bear and wandering to collect coins. He flips people off. He loves comics and geeks out amidst a battle. He’s a smart strategist and he knows it. He has never talked down on anyone. He comes off as sadistic and dangerous. He never betrays his ally and gets bullied constantly by the crew of said ally. He wears tragedy like high fashion. At the lowest point in his life he finds out that he has always been loved and never alone.
