Recently I’ve had to tell a lot of people that it’s okay to do the thing people in your life might dislike you for if it’s actively damaging you not to. Not in a “hurt people” kind of way, but in a “please stop pushing yourself past the point of exhaustion for your reputation” kind of way. Use that cane. Wear those glasses. Stop taking unsustainable overtime. Don’t go to work on a sprained ankle. Don’t be afraid to have needs and don’t be ashamed to meet them.
