If I ever became unimaginably wealthy, my first act would be to purchase the rights to the Shrek franchise, including all associated media and ancillary intellectual properties, then immediately release the whole lot to the public domain. Not because I particularly enjoy Shrek as a character, but because such a popular character entering into the public domain would immediately become an omnipresent and inescapable cultural fixture, and it amuses me to imagine future anthropologists trying to figure out what the hell just happened.
I want you to imagine a world where Shrek is abruptly as ubiquitous in popular media as Sherlock Holmes or Dracula. Imagine what a world that would be.
A better one
Some highlights from Shrek Retold, a weird and wonderful full length fan film made by over 200 contributors, that that recreates the entire first Shrek movie scene by scene using each contributors own unique style for the section they created.
DreamWorks’ Shrek was first released on May 18th, 2001.
The song “All Star” by Smash Mouth, heard in the opening credits, was only placed in the film for test audiences until a new song could be found. But test audiences loved it, and the producers kept it in. When the producers decided to keep “All Star” they decided to let the band sing the last song in the movie, “I’m a Believer.” (x)
Everyone take the time today to Thank the Ogrelord and wish him a Happy Birthday ☺️🎂

This is how Dan and Phil were made
Although I agree the ogre babies share a resemblance with Dan and Phil, I believe that the photos above must have been edited (even though the onceler and Shrek exist in the same canon universe, making the acquaintance possible, but unlikely); the claims made by the photos are untrue and it is borderline slanderous to assume that Dan and Phil could possibly be the offspring of Shrek.
me trying to hit a 5000 word count like
Shrek 2 was a good fucking movie
apparently not good enough for @bunjywunjy to remember that this isn’t from Shrek 2
it’s from Shrek the Third
OKAY SO HERE ARE THE PICS. Inspired by this post by @pipistrellus (@pipcomix)
These are 16th century Renaissance inspired hotpants, panelled with navy velvet with a red silk lining and hand-embroidered butt slogan, which I believe is like 300% historically accurate. They’re actually modelled off a genuine Tudor pattern but then made ridiculous because who am I.
Worn with thigh highs and a 18th C shirt cuz it was all I had to hand and frankly shirts don’t change that much lol.
Watermark is to my Instagram! @oh.papillon
