Sdr2 LGBTq+ Headcanons

My first sdr2 post!! And it's about lgbtq headcanons!! SPOILERS

Again if you've seen my post with drv3 then the warnings still apply here.

Though some specific warnings: I started getting quirky and funny to myself in the post, I apologize

Another warning, I realized that I started ranting about Teruteru's character as a whole so I apologize for that.

Hajime Hinata: Bisexual, maybe a female preference

Honestly I'd argue that he could be heteroflexible, like the ratio of attraction is 5:1 with this guy, coming from someone who only ships Hajime with men 😭. I don't think he had internalized homophobia like Shuichi but I just feel he seems to notice his attraction towards women more than men.

Teruteru Hanamura: Pansexual (could be bi)

I'm sorry, this is actually a thing I dislike about myself but I genuinely feel like Teruteru can be redeemed in the 2x2 update and I feel like they partially failed him as a character. The anime in my opinion really destroyed a lot of characters for me, and I genuinely feel like some game scenes with Teruteru (mainly the Sonia scene in the game) were added for fanservice, like how Makoto doesn't seem like an asshole who'd peak on women bathing but he does anyway. Idk I feel like the scene with his mother really moved me more than words could describe.

Sorry that was a rant to prepare you for my take. I think he's gender-blind and hypersexual, and I think he's motivated by heteronormativity in society where he feels the need to be way to inappropriate with the ladies because the hometown he grew up in probably normalized that behavior and he wanted to be able to manipulate the perception of himself as a rich, high-status, man in order to be taken seriously as a chef.

Imposter: Agender

Nothing much to note I just think that their labels are based off of who they impersonate, and if they are ever themself for once I feel like the loss of identity would allow them to see their gender as non-existent.

Also I wish the imposter existed because they would probably just know exactly everyone's labels and know who they are attracted to because of that and I really need that.

Mahiru Koizumi: Bisexual with a male preference

I have the headcanon but just like Hajime I only ship her with women (Hajime with men you know what I mean 😭). I do think that despite Mahiru probably having a higher attraction to men, it would be harder for her to develop romantic feelings for them because of how realistic she is. I mean when she meets a man she likes she probably automatically thinks "he wouldn't be a good partner because of this trait" etc.

Peko Pekoyama: Demisexual

Honestly I can't come up with a good decent headcanon on her so sadly this is all I can put. If I get a revelation I'll make a post strictly for her.

Ibuki Mioda: Asexual (Could be Greysexual OR Aegosexual) Biromantic

I really feel like Ibuki's style is a hint at her Bi-ness. Like no way her hair just has pink, blue, and purple in it and the joke about girl love was just a coincidence. Also people like to headcanon her as asexual because of their interpretation of her preferring an emotional connection over a physical relationship and I completely agree with that. While I do think the possibility of her being Aegosexual (feeling sexual attraction but a disconnection from the real relationship) or Greysexual is really high, I also like the Asexual headcanon as well. Also Ibuki really gives off Cupcakke vibes with the whole asexuality and then saying "Girls love: it's slippery when wet" and her songs.

Hiyoko Saionji: Asexual Lesbian

I feel like Hiyoko's dancing career has probably influenced her sexuality because of all the old men (her audience is mainly made up of old men) that like her dancing. The creepy undertones of that would probably Influence how she views sexuality as a whole. As for the lesbian headcanon, I don't need to explain myself, she likes girls, I think she was bullied because of it so she avoids the topic of sexuality all together.

Mikan Tsumiki: Bisexual with a very very high preference for women

While I do feel like she could fall in love with a man, I 100% agree that most of her attraction is based on her abuse and heteronormativity. I feel like her attraction towards Junko (not condoning it but I do have multiple interpretations of this relationship) probably makes her feel more attracted to women as a whole, and I think she would prefer being with a woman.

Nekomaru Nidai: Gay

Bet you weren't expecting this, I 110% believe that he makes his sexuality not known for a plethora of reasons, and keeps his romance life, school life, and manager life separate. And I totally view Akane and his relationship as platonic.

Gundam Tanaka: Bigender and Straight

Idk the Bigender headcanon is so random to me but I feel like it fits. And yes... TANAKA KILLED NEKOMARU BECAUSE HES GAY.

...First time rage-baiting kind of nervous type of take. No I'm joking, I just feel like he's straight.

Nagito Komaeda: ...Gay

Yes Nagito is gay, yes he will tell you that his attraction is based off the hope of another person, BUT HES LYING. That man is gay. Oh my gosh he's so gay. Why would Hiyoko (with excellent gaydar canon btw trust me) say he's getting gayer with age if he wasn't gay in the first place. Also dude he wasn't basically caressing Makoto's hand just because he's the ultimate hope, he did it because he's a fan because he's gay. When they posted something about Makoto attracting men as well as women, they meant Nagito. Nagito x Kubzscouts forever.

Chiaki Nanami: Demigirl, Asexual Omniromantic

I can't believe Chiaki killed Nagito because he was gay. Justice for the gays getting killed in the killing game 😞. For the Demigirl headcanon I feel like it just fits really well idk man.

Asexual representation in gamer girls!! Omniromantic representation in bad bitches!!!

Idk what you want me to say I'm like totally right, this canon guys trust.

Sonia Nevermind: Polyamorous Omnisexual with a male pref

Oh Sonia and Peko the only two girls I can't have solid headcanons on. I think it's because I'm in love with Sonia and we're canon so I can't say she's straight (joking). I also feel like because she's a princess she's gonna be expected to marry royalty, and I do feel like she would harbor some type of feelings for that partner but I also love to headcanon that she would have a side partner.

As for Omnisexual I feel like Sonia would originally be ignorant about sexuality, due to how she was brought up, and would definitely educate herself on all the terms. I do genuinely feel like she does not care about gender and more about personality, but I think she would be attracted to men more based on the fact she's aware she's gonna most likely marry a man for the kingdom (and just attraction itself).

Also can I do a hot take? I also do headcanon that she has a secret partner that's a woman back at home and I'm currently stuck on this headcanon.

Akane Owari: Straight or Unlabeled.

Nothing more to add, I feel like while she would use Straight as a label, or just no labels at all, she would actually be AroAce and just would never date somebody. Like, out of almost all the characters in the Danganronpa franchise, she wouldn't date people the most.

Kazuichi Soda: Closeted Bisexual

Definitely feel like his pervertedness is also based on heteronormativity and internalized homophobia. Idk it's canon to me atp.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu: Bisexual

Love the Bisexual trio Hajime, Kazuichi, and Fuyuhiko.

Also do y'all remember when people would say he's bisexual because he did the cuff thing on his pants. Yeah that was me, I 100% totally clearly "no-chance-this-is-a-lie" made that headcanon up myself and everyone else went with it. Nothing more to say I think it's canon, however, I do think heteronormativity tried to get his ass and he said "fawwkk you" and actually shot it to death.

Also another hot take: I prefer platonic really deep love between peko x fuyuhiko. I mean if we're being literal, they are step-siblings without the adoption. And also when Peko calls him young master I feel like there is a similar interpretation to how Kirumi calls Shuichi young master in her love hotel event. And because of that I feel a deep sense of platonic and familiar bond within that term of endearment. Sue me and let's support yaoi together!!!

Ryota Mitarai: Ace-spec Omniromantic, Non-binary

So focused on animating that it takes him time to really find out his identity, it was probably easier to find out he was on the ace-spectrum because he really doesn't feel those types of attraction. And he would've also identified as Aromantic if it wasn't for....

No I'm kidding with some character development I do think he would be able to find a relationship. I do think, mind you, that he would be more attracted to gender non-conforming people if you can believe it. It just makes sense to me.

Sato: Lesbian

I really feel like Sato killing Natsumi to protect Mahiru was an act of possession and love. Therefore, toxic Yuri. I do need to re-educate myself on their relationship but idk toxic or doomed Yuri really feels right.

Natsumi Kuzuryu: Bisexual but I wouldn't be surprised if she used the label Straight and acted homophobic towards others.

Sorry I just feel like she would have that toxic trait, she'd totally be like "wow look at these *insert any label but straight* ultimates I totally deserve to be an ultimate oh wow I'll make a mean comment towards their sexuality", and then next week she's dating a woman. I think she experiences homophobia at home and that would drive this sense of hypocritical hatred, like "I'm perfect in my parents image why are these flawed people still acknowledged as an ultimate more than me?"

I would love to see a fanfic where Fuyuhiko does help Natsumi's internalized hatred tbh.

Guys I'm gonna say it. I looked at my Sdr2 headcanons just now and realized I've been lying to myself this entire time.

I see Chiaki Nanami as AroAce. And I feel like any ship I like with Chiaki is more or likely gonna be a qpr relationship.

I feel like the reason I kept omniromantic was because I do have favorite ships with her in it, but I also didn't take into account that you could be in a relationship that doesn't involve romantic or sexual attraction. I shouldn't have looked at Chiaki for her ship potential but for her character alone.

That goes to show I might make a rework of this post and see if my opinions have changed for other characters.

Kokichi did not fully manipulate Gonta into killing - but he’s not entirely innocent in Chapter 4 either.

There’s so much controversy surrounding whether or not Gonta was manipulated into killing Miu by Kokichi. I’m here to explain what happened and how it doesn’t really count as manipulation, but more of a dimmed down version of manipulation.

So reviewing the events of CH4 regarding the murder. In the Virtual World Kokichi takes Gonta off to the side somewhere in the forest and shows Gonta the “flashback light”. He originally wants to tell the others about it, but Kokichi stops him- claiming something about Gonta shouldn’t just believe a liar like him without checking it first. So, Gonta takes a look inside said flashback light. And obviously he sees.. that whole malarkey. Gonta, who struggles to understand whether something is a trick or otherwise, begins to freak out as he doesn’t want his friends to enter an apocalyptic world when and if they ended up surviving.

Kokichi tricks Gonta into believing that being dead and unaware of what’s going on behind the dome is a much better fate than surviving and seeing the dreadful truth of the real world. He tells Gonta that his best bet is to Kill Miu now, make it impossible for the others to guess him during the trial, and have them all killed off there instead. Gonta in his state of despair, agrees- with the idea that no matter where his friends go, pain is inescapable.

As we can tell, what Kokichi did doesn’t really count as FULL manipulation. Manipulation, or to manipulate, is “to control people/situations in a clever, unfair, or dishonest way for personal advantage.” I like to consider it half manipulation- or at the very least, a large nudge and push.

Kokichi DID plant the idea in Gonta’s head to kill Miu for his own personal gain. That personal gain being not being killed himself, as Miu was going to murder HIM. Hence why he told Gonta to kill Miu specifically- with the idea he couldn’t die yet, as that would destroy his long term plan.

But at the same time, Gonta agreed to it on his own terms. He obviously didn’t WANT to kill, he didn’t want to hurt anybody- he loves everyone in his class. But he was shoved into the direction and ideology that killing Miu, and in turn the others, was the best and safest idea for THEM, as he just wanted to keep them safe, even if it meant unfortunately taking their own lives. Kokichi knew that, so he used that to his advantage.

We have to remember that during the murder too, Gonta did some things he thought of himself. The most notable being the fact that he had the idea on how to hide the body when he saw Miu go through the wall only objects can go through. He thought of some things on his own, and obviously committed the murder in itself, which does in fact dub him a guilty. But as stated, with what Kokichi did regarding Gotnas mental state, his hands aren’t entirely clean either. They’re just not bloody unlike Gonta’s, so only Gonta could get executed. Not to mention in a legal sense since Kokichi was TECHNICALLY the distraction when Gonta snuck up behind Miu he would legally be guilty of murder like Gonta. But Danganronpa works a little differently- the only person to get executed, once again, is the one who committed the murder in itself and took somebody’s life physically. It happened with Fuyuhiko and Peko too.

(The bloody hand thing is a metaphor I know no blood was spilled I just thought it was clever ok? ok)

It’s why I personally don’t ship them because this whole chapter just makes them very very toxic to me and in turn incompatible. I also worry Kokichi would use Gonta’s Naivety for things like pranks or whatever- overall I just think it doesn’t work. But this isn’t a rant about how much I dislike the ship, I wrote that rant a year and a half ago and got JUMPED by the shippers- so I digress.

So is it manipulation? …ssssorta. A mix of both yes and no. Gonta still willingly did it, but he was pushed and nudged into the direction of it all and his mental state was also toyed with to get him to that murderous state.

I think I finally figured out how I want to organize my shipping posts for Danganronpa.

For some context: I have a major organization problem. I'm not gonna say it's ocd or any type of mental illness, but it's getting to the point where I can't get myself to stay motivated because I need to break stuff apart and remake it from the ground up.

Like with notebooks, I'll be writing and then if I don't like how I organized the words then I'll rip the paper out, even if I get one word wrong. Maybe a document on all my ocs i have for Danganronpa? Guess what, abandoned because I couldn't keep up. It has to be organized but I don't know how to organize it to fit my view because I'm horribly indecisive

If I start posting about ships I'll definitely get pissed by how I organize it because it's so much. But I think I figured it out, but I need help making a descion

So here's an example. I'm gonna make a post with Shuichi as the main character specifically, and then rank all the in game ships that exist, like in-game x in-game and add in some polyamory ships as well, then I'll also make a post dedicated to in-game vs out of game ships but I won't put every ship just my well liked ones then I'm gonna make another post where I put my top 5 in game ships, top 5 out of game ships, and top 5 polyamory ships.

Tsumugi Headcanons:

A rant on Love

I feel like Tsumugi would hate the fact that she's straight, and that's why in the game she writes off Angie and Kaede's characters to express a weird type of attraction to her force some depth of her character to the audience.

In her eyes being straight really strengthens her plain persona, she doesn't realize that you don't have to strike an audience like other characters to live a nice life nor does she have to queer to be a good character, so instead she demonizes her plainess.

I feel like one of the reasons she picks up cosplaying is so that she can feel noticeable, she doesn't just dress up, she matches their character, she harbors their lifestyle and therefore she's not her plainself.

I definitely feel like that's why she feels drawn to Junko as a character, she's not just a complex character, she set so many trends in her game and in the real world. I feel like because of that she starts to try and force herself in Junko's mindset.

In my post about Junko's sexuality I said she was polyamorous and the killing game was her act of love towards them, and I like to believe that Tsumugi starts to develop this trait as she starts to lean more and more into Junko herself. She starts to act like this killing game is not just an act of love to Danganronpa, but to the cast.

More on that, I feel like Tsumugi develops an obsessive attraction with people attract attention. Kokichi, Angie, and Kaede are main people I ship Tsumugi with as a one-sided obsession ship. I'll make a post that explains this when I rank Tsumugi ships entirely.

Danganronpa THH lgbtq+ headcanons

WARNING!! SPOILERS!! If you've seen my post on Drv3 and Sdr2 headcanons then you also know that those warnings apply to here!

Second warning. When I posted my headcanons on drv3 characters I realized that only a good handful of characters had definite full-fledged headcanons I die-hard agree with, some characters it's hard for me to interpret. Sdr2 was much easier in making headcanons as only two characters I struggled for.

Third warning: I lost my mind while making this so if you see me talking to myself I swear I'm not making fun of anybody just myself. I'm having fun while making this

I will put which thh characters I struggled to get a definite headcanon back up here.

Makoto Naegi: I DONT KNOWW 😭💔

I'm sorry but I don't. Something about him, I think he's just queer. He could have anyone he wanted I'm not even kidding he's like the Alpha. He can't be straight because why would Kodaka mention that men are attracted to him, that's like painting up a whole plethora of ideas to his sexuality. Other than Sayaka and Mukuro I think he's gay. If not I'ma say Pansexual. I don't know

I feel like because he's the god of hope, the great deity, the chad, the absolute unit of a man, he doesn't need to be labeled.

Mukuro Ikusaba: Bisexual

I like to headcanon the anime as not canon thank you very much. I ship her with Makoto and Kyoko so I do think that she's a bisexual queen. The first bisexual queen of the bisexuals of Danganronpa if you will.

Sayaka Maizono: Homoflexible (HERE ME OUT OH MY GAWD PUT THE KNIFE AWWWAAYY)

Only man she's ever felt feelings for is Makoto and I don't think they'd get together, they probably would but I digress. Also i feel like a lot of people interpret her as straight because she caters to the male audience. She was originally seen as what could have been the female supportive character to the male protagonist, the love interest if you will. But that doesn't mean her femininity or role in the game constitutes her as the heteronorm. I completely believe that she would've liked girls, I think she was definitely the type of flirt with any girl she pleased actually.

I ship her with most of her girl group cast like I was the first ancestor to the polytrix shippers (yes I ship them too), like I made the brand!!

Leon Kuwata: Straight

My little slim Jim 😞. He's straight

Chucky I mean Chihiro Fujisaki: Asexual panromantic | Maybe non-binary if you squint

Doesn't allude sexuality and gender to his romantic attraction. And I feel like he's not ashamed of himself because he knows that theres nothing wrong with his sexuality and romantic orientation. I believe that his dad is Pansexual and would be more than supportive towards his son.

Also as for the non-binary headcanon, I think he would feel comfortable expressing his gnc, even though I also view him as a man.

Mondo Owada: Bisexual with a higher preference to women

While I do think he struggles with internalized homophobia, I also feel like he feels comfortable being bisexual. He's a gang member, and I like to think his brother is pretty supportive as well.

Kiyotaka Ishimaru: Gay but with internalized homophobia mixed in

He definitely feels like being gay is wrong especially with his whole personality being revolved around fixing his family mistakes. He definitely learns to overcome this (I hope, maybe in another life)

Celestia Ludenberg: Lesbian

Just because she wants to be served by a thousand men, or vampire men, doesn't mean shes attracted to them. She just wants power, maybe she sees a relationship with a woman as an equal power scale or rival, while with men it's more like treat them like dogs. Maybe she's into kakegurui without the Yuri Bait. Maybe she is in fact Yuri kakegurui.

Sakura Ogami: Guys I'm sorry (..don't you dare) you know I ship Asami (Don't) but Straight (oh my goodness I can't believe I'm actually gonna fix you you ruined my life)

I mean she could be bi, I do ship her with Aoi and Sayaka. But the fact that she has a bf/love interest already, it's just, I can't deny that canon piece of evidence. And she gives off straight. I feel like most people that make her bisexual or a lesbian do it because two girls can't be friends, and the "if shes super strong then she has to be masculine and gay" stereotype.

Also the idea that Junko wants the people she LOVES to experience despair and then the people she puts in a killing game are her classmates really give off the idea of polyamory to me. I know platonic love exists, but the way she makes the Remnants of Despair and the first killing game and it being an act of love just really says romantic in a very weird despair coded way

Kyoko Kirigiri: Unlabeled but prolly bisexual/Demiromantic

Honestly I only ship her with women or nobody, it would take her a really long time to have feelings for somebody.

Aoi Asahina: Lesbian but she could be questioning

BE WHO YOU AREEE. I'll never see her with a man I'm sorry. I can just tell she likes women. And she's a slow-burn type of gal as well. We see you, we accept you.

Toko Fukawa: Identifies as straight with some heavy homophobia but then she grows a pair identifies as bi after the game.

I love Toko pls don't think otherwise 😭

Girl she carries some type of vendetta in the first game, whether it's internalized homophobia or she just has some hateful rhetoric she needs to work out, she probably fetishizes yaoi and then gets weirded out by lesbians. However I feel like most of her disgusting rhetoric is probably fueled by her fetish of byakuya tbh. Like once she starts to pull away from byakuya she starts to open up more on her sexuality.

Yasuhiro Hagakure: AroAce or unlabeled

I feel like he wouldn't feel comfortable dating anybody due to the fact he's like 22 in a room full of 17 to 18 year olds... But I have entertained the idea of Yasuhiro x Byakuya in the future arc my lovely AroAce old yaoi couple ❤️

I'm gonna start making posts on Danganronpa ships where I rank ships, make headcanons etc.

But I need to warn you on multiple things

I'm a multi-shipper. And I prefer a LOT OF rarepairs over actual semi-canon/hinted ships. I'll never be the type of person that thinks "only these two characters should be together" I think that because it's a game there will always be a timeline where two characters can have a chance.

Headcanons vs Shipping! I view a decent amount of characters as aro representing, however I also believe that multiple headcanons exist and therefore if I posted a headcanon saying they are AroAce, 9/10 that headcanon does not apply to my ship headcanon.

I like ships of characters across the games. If I ship a character from drv3 with any character from the first two games, then I am talking about the High-school UTDP AU or any high school au, or some "they are all in the same universe" au, just in case I forget to mention it. I view that AU where those three classes are in the same grade just different homerooms (at my school there are almost 400 seniors alone so the idea of the three games all being in the same grade just different homerooms is not entirely implausible). The Super Danganronpa Summer trip game also accounts for my claim as well, they are all seniors in that game!

I like to ship toxic stuff! I like the idea of the story behind two characters, I think about the What-ifs. "They would hate each other and they barely talk enough as it is" I don't care. Although, my version of toxic stuff will always be one-sided. So I can ship the idea of a toxic one-sided relationship, just as much as a toxic relationship that will get it's well deserved development. If I post about that ship I will make it clear about the trope I like them in, and I will make it clear if I like them in a certain AU (Non-Despair High school AU as an example)

As expected, I don't ship sibling-coded characters, pedophilia, romanticize forced ANYTHING or incest. Yes I will admit I am into the psychological horror that these tropes produce (because that's what this stuff is, it's horror-coded, anyone trying to say that this stuff is romantic is weird to me)

Another warning, I realized that I started ranting about Teruteru's character as a whole so I apologize for that.

Hajime Hinata: Bisexual, maybe a female preference

Honestly I'd argue that he could be heteroflexible, like the ratio of attraction is 5:1 with this guy, coming from someone who only ships Hajime with men 😭. I don't think he had internalized homophobia like Shuichi but I just feel he seems to notice his attraction towards women more than men.

Teruteru Hanamura: Pansexual (could be bi)

I'm sorry, this is actually a thing I dislike about myself but I genuinely feel like Teruteru can be redeemed in the 2x2 update and I feel like they partially failed him as a character. The anime in my opinion really destroyed a lot of characters for me, and I genuinely feel like some game scenes with Teruteru (mainly the Sonia scene in the game) were added for fanservice, like how Makoto doesn't seem like an asshole who'd peak on women bathing but he does anyway. Idk I feel like the scene with his mother really moved me more than words could describe.

Sorry that was a rant to prepare you for my take. I think he's gender-blind and hypersexual, and I think he's motivated by heteronormativity in society where he feels the need to be way to inappropriate with the ladies because the hometown he grew up in probably normalized that behavior and he wanted to be able to manipulate the perception of himself as a rich, high-status, man in order to be taken seriously as a chef.

Imposter: Agender

Nothing much to note I just think that their labels are based off of who they impersonate, and if they are ever themself for once I feel like the loss of identity would allow them to see their gender as non-existent.

Also I wish the imposter existed because they would probably just know exactly everyone's labels and know who they are attracted to because of that and I really need that.

Mahiru Koizumi: Bisexual with a male preference

I have the headcanon but just like Hajime I only ship her with women (Hajime with men you know what I mean 😭). I do think that despite Mahiru probably having a higher attraction to men, it would be harder for her to develop romantic feelings for them because of how realistic she is. I mean when she meets a man she likes she probably automatically thinks "he wouldn't be a good partner because of this trait" etc.

Peko Pekoyama: Demisexual

Honestly I can't come up with a good decent headcanon on her so sadly this is all I can put. If I get a revelation I'll make a post strictly for her.

Ibuki Mioda: Asexual (Could be Greysexual OR Aegosexual) Biromantic

I really feel like Ibuki's style is a hint at her Bi-ness. Like no way her hair just has pink, blue, and purple in it and the joke about girl love was just a coincidence. Also people like to headcanon her as asexual because of their interpretation of her preferring an emotional connection over a physical relationship and I completely agree with that. While I do think the possibility of her being Aegosexual (feeling sexual attraction but a disconnection from the real relationship) or Greysexual is really high, I also like the Asexual headcanon as well. Also Ibuki really gives off Cupcakke vibes with the whole asexuality and then saying "Girls love: it's slippery when wet" and her songs.

Hiyoko Saionji: Asexual Lesbian

I feel like Hiyoko's dancing career has probably influenced her sexuality because of all the old men (her audience is mainly made up of old men) that like her dancing. The creepy undertones of that would probably Influence how she views sexuality as a whole. As for the lesbian headcanon, I don't need to explain myself, she likes girls, I think she was bullied because of it so she avoids the topic of sexuality all together.

Mikan Tsumiki: Bisexual with a very very high preference for women

While I do feel like she could fall in love with a man, I 100% agree that most of her attraction is based on her abuse and heteronormativity. I feel like her attraction towards Junko (not condoning it but I do have multiple interpretations of this relationship) probably makes her feel more attracted to women as a whole, and I think she would prefer being with a woman.

Nekomaru Nidai: Gay

Bet you weren't expecting this, I 110% believe that he makes his sexuality not known for a plethora of reasons, and keeps his romance life, school life, and manager life separate. And I totally view Akane and his relationship as platonic.

Gundam Tanaka: Bigender and Straight

Idk the Bigender headcanon is so random to me but I feel like it fits. And yes... TANAKA KILLED NEKOMARU BECAUSE HES GAY.

...First time rage-baiting kind of nervous type of take. No I'm joking, I just feel like he's straight.

Nagito Komaeda: ...Gay

Yes Nagito is gay, yes he will tell you that his attraction is based off the hope of another person, BUT HES LYING. That man is gay. Oh my gosh he's so gay. Why would Hiyoko (with excellent gaydar canon btw trust me) say he's getting gayer with age if he wasn't gay in the first place. Also dude he wasn't basically caressing Makoto's hand just because he's the ultimate hope, he did it because he's a fan because he's gay. When they posted something about Makoto attracting men as well as women, they meant Nagito. Nagito x Kubzscouts forever.

Chiaki Nanami: Demigirl, Asexual Omniromantic

I can't believe Chiaki killed Nagito because he was gay. Justice for the gays getting killed in the killing game 😞. For the Demigirl headcanon I feel like it just fits really well idk man.

Asexual representation in gamer girls!! Omniromantic representation in bad bitches!!!

Idk what you want me to say I'm like totally right, this canon guys trust.

Sonia Nevermind: Polyamorous Omnisexual with a male pref

Oh Sonia and Peko the only two girls I can't have solid headcanons on. I think it's because I'm in love with Sonia and we're canon so I can't say she's straight (joking). I also feel like because she's a princess she's gonna be expected to marry royalty, and I do feel like she would harbor some type of feelings for that partner but I also love to headcanon that she would have a side partner.

As for Omnisexual I feel like Sonia would originally be ignorant about sexuality, due to how she was brought up, and would definitely educate herself on all the terms. I do genuinely feel like she does not care about gender and more about personality, but I think she would be attracted to men more based on the fact she's aware she's gonna most likely marry a man for the kingdom (and just attraction itself).

Also can I do a hot take? I also do headcanon that she has a secret partner that's a woman back at home and I'm currently stuck on this headcanon.

Akane Owari: Straight or Unlabeled.

Nothing more to add, I feel like while she would use Straight as a label, or just no labels at all, she would actually be AroAce and just would never date somebody. Like, out of almost all the characters in the Danganronpa franchise, she wouldn't date people the most.

Kazuichi Soda: Closeted Bisexual

Definitely feel like his pervertedness is also based on heteronormativity and internalized homophobia. Idk it's canon to me atp.

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu: Bisexual

Love the Bisexual trio Hajime, Kazuichi, and Fuyuhiko.

Also do y'all remember when people would say he's bisexual because he did the cuff thing on his pants. Yeah that was me, I 100% totally clearly "no-chance-this-is-a-lie" made that headcanon up myself and everyone else went with it. Nothing more to say I think it's canon, however, I do think heteronormativity tried to get his ass and he said "fawwkk you" and actually shot it to death.

Also another hot take: I prefer platonic really deep love between peko x fuyuhiko. I mean if we're being literal, they are step-siblings without the adoption. And also when Peko calls him young master I feel like there is a similar interpretation to how Kirumi calls Shuichi young master in her love hotel event. And because of that I feel a deep sense of platonic and familiar bond within that term of endearment. Sue me and let's support yaoi together!!!

So focused on animating that it takes him time to really find out his identity, it was probably easier to find out he was on the ace-spectrum because he really doesn't feel those types of attraction. And he would've also identified as Aromantic if it wasn't for....

I really feel like Sato killing Natsumi to protect Mahiru was an act of possession and love. Therefore, toxic Yuri. I do need to re-educate myself on their relationship but idk toxic or doomed Yuri really feels right.

Natsumi Kuzuryu: Bisexual but I wouldn't be surprised if she used the label Straight and acted homophobic towards others.

Sorry I just feel like she would have that toxic trait, she'd totally be like "wow look at these *insert any label but straight* ultimates I totally deserve to be an ultimate oh wow I'll make a mean comment towards their sexuality", and then next week she's dating a woman. I think she experiences homophobia at home and that would drive this sense of hypocritical hatred, like "I'm perfect in my parents image why are these flawed people still acknowledged as an ultimate more than me?"

I would love to see a fanfic where Fuyuhiko does help Natsumi's internalized hatred tbh.

When I made the lgbtq+ headcanons for the drv3 cast I would like to point out that only a good handful of those characters I had definite headcanons for. And that's Kokichi, Maki, Kaede, Tenko, Himiko, and Shuichi.

It's so hard having headcanons AND being a multi-shipper because I'll be over here like, oh Ryoma seems straight me...

Ryoma x Shuichi shipper

With that in mind when I MIGHT take the time to really do some in depth character interpretation of those characters and then I MIGHT make another post of revamped headcanons.

Drv3 LGBTQ Headcanons

Sorry it took me so long to make a post on this 😥😓. FIRST off I'd like to ask you all to please not get upset if you disagree with my takes, and if anything please share your headcanons in the comments because I'm very interested in how others view these characters.

Also another warning... this post might be confusing because I like to explain my headcanons, but I have multiple headcanons. Like some characters I just really love the idea of different headcanons, so if you see me putting a | between two headcanons it means they are separate.

Shuichi Saihara: Bisexual, Trans Woman | Trans Man

I'm a stickler for canon, and the fact that Kodaka basically confirmed Shuichi's Bisexuality confirmed my headcanon "no matter if the person is man or woman". Even if he didn't make it known I still felt like Shuichi was implied to have a crush on Kaito, and be attracted to men (Kokichi's love suite scene). I saw his relationship with Kaede more platonic. And honestly I feel like Shuichi has some internalized homophobia, "shouldn't be talking about another boy like that" and "I thought about him staying before I smothered the thought" (not an exact quote). Even if one could argue about the topic, I feel like interpretation and dialogue is important in these moments. I also feel like if Shuichi did have feelings for Kaede, there would be some type of feeling where he thinks he'd have to because of heteronormativity. Coming from a Kaede x Shuichi shipper myself.

As for trans headcanon, I love both headcanons of Shuichi being a trans woman OR a trans man. I don't think I need to post every single dialogue in the game that makes you think "wow this does not imply cis anymore". Every time Shuichi looks at the girls bathroom, Miu's "you'd be a C-CUP!" (totally not hinting at something), Tenko telling mainly Shuichi to get a sex change, Tsumugi's dialogue. Dude there's so many things that just hints at the possibility of Shuichi being Trans 😭.

Kaede Akamatsu: Omnisexual with a really big preference for girls

I can't deny that I honestly ship Kaede with most of the girls in the cast (plus Trans Woman Shuichi), with the exception of some men. I really feel like Kaede doesn't really care about gender or sex but she just is more attracted to women.

Rantaro Amami: Gay Aceflux/Demiromantic | AroAce

Not Straight, I'm sorry this man is not marrying a woman. However I can't deny the fact that Rantaro feels like someone who would take years to actually feel a romantic attraction for someone, so he focuses more on his platonic relationships, and I think he doesn't really experience any type of sexual attraction, or arousal for that matter. That's why I also headcanon him as AroAce, he's very platonic to the point, and he just has so much on his plate, a relationship is probably the last thing on his mind.

Ryoma Hoshi: Unlabeled, maybe Aegosexual

Definitely not trying to seek a relationship after everything that's happened to him, so he keeps himself and keeps himself unlabeled. I also only ship him with like 3 people, and they are more like "they could make a good couple" but I don't go bonkers for it like "they obviously would be together". I think there could be a chance of him being in a relationship but I don't think that would affect his identity.

As for Aegosexual, that label means where you experience sexual feelings or fantasize about a sexual relationship, but you feel disconnected from experiencing it personally. No need to elaborate but there's that.

Kirumi Tojo: Questioning Demi

Kirumi has spent most of her life basically catering to everyone else's needs, so shes never had any time to really think about her label. However I feel like there is definitely a Demiromantic hiding within her soul. With some character development I do think she would hang around in the aro and ace spectrum

Angie Yonaga: Unlabeled Polyamorous

I feel like she doesn't feel the needs to carry labels because whoever Her God brings her is who her soulmate is, in her mind. I do like to think that with some character development that wouldn't really change her labels because she grew up thinking "attraction to the soul" was more of her mindset. I know she does have certain feelings for Shuichi but that's because of how Shuichi basically scolded her. I also do feel like she would be able to express or hold romantic feelings for multiple people as well.

Tenko Chabashira: LESBIAN

Do I have to explain? Even if someone could argue that Tenko would harbor feelings for a...man... I don't think Tenko would even pursue those feelings, and I don't think Tenko could even feel something for a man, the best you're gonna get is her respecting him and being friends. A lot of her hate for men may have been given to her by her master but that doesn't mean what her master said is particularly wrong, like your perception of a gender can in fact influence your attraction to them. And Tenko is most definitely aware of all the assault, lack of rights, literally most of the prejudice coming from a patriarchal viewpoint. I wouldn't be surprised that her view of dating a man is submitting to the oppressor, also this is a character interpretation just to point that out.

Korekiyo Shingujji: Androgynous and Genderfluid (I do also think he could be multi-gender or pangender), Sapiosexual (has a preference for men)

I feel like if korekiyo was a real person they would be androgynous, as for my genderfluid headcanon, all sister stuff aside I do also think that Korekiyo would have fluctuating genders or would present himself very differently. I feel like anthropology does encourage their genderfluid identity, a part of studying anthropology is also studying gender as well as human nature. Also i'd like to say Korekiyo is gender-blind, and I do think he would use Pansexual as a label because "humanity is beautiful", but I do feel like he would have a preference towards men believe it or not. I also think that he might be attracted to the intelligent more as well, I ship him with people based on their intelligence because I really do think he'd be CRUSHING on somebody who's smart in many ways. I like the Sapiosexual identity

Miu Iruma: Pansexual

Okay so at first I always thought she was straight in the game, because of her whole "impress the men" and when she groped Kaede the "It's okay because we're both girls" really threw me in a loop. But honestly I don't think those would affect the original headcanon I had for her. I think she just appeals to the opposite sex because, as someone with a bigger chest, I feel like she grew up being subjected to the male gaze. Also I feel like because of her being in her head than most people she would view attraction as more gender blind in her opinion, because her talent requires her to think, and a lot of her thought process is inherently dirty, I think she would think more about her sexuality and realize she doesn't really mind the sex of her partner.

Gonta Gokuhara: Unlabeled

I don't think he gives a crap. I really feel like he is smarter than he lets on and his attraction is more on "the right person" so he doesn't care about gender. Like at first I thought he was straight but the whole Shuichi love suite event really made me think.

Kokichi Ouma: Pansexual | Pansexual Aroflux | Trans Man

Kaito Momota: Unlabeled maybe AroAce

Another thing that was basically proven canon by Kodaka "no matter the gender". If they're interesting then they are interesting. I was literally psychoanalyzing his love suite event tbh because he's literally my favorite character and I could make an entire post on my interpretation of his romantic feelings alone. I feel like Kokichi definitely struggles in the romance department but I can't tell if it's because of vulnerability or him having a fluctuating romantic attraction.

Also while not my main headcanon I do love the trans Kokichi agenda. It's more of a "ooo I like this idea" than a "my personal headcanon"

Always assumed he was straight, because the Japanese localization really makes him seem just an eensy but sexist or homophobic, but I'm turning a new leaf. I think he goes unlabeled, and I think he's the type of person that barely feels anything for people. Like I fully feel like Kodaka made it to where Kaito didn't reciprocate Maki's feelings and I entirely believe he did that for a reason. He's just that guy everyone falls for but he's just not worried about that.

Kiibo: Non-binary Questioning

Baby takes a good year to find out they are non-binary. They do feel a bit worried because, Idabashi made them male presenting for a reason, but I also feel like Kiibo would realize that in order to be human they have to identify themself. As for attraction I truly believe that it would take forever for him to label himself, he doesn't know.

Tsumugi Shirogane: Genderfluid Straight (Bicurious or starts labeling herself as Omnisexual as the game progresses)

For the genderfluid headcanon I think it's because when she cosplays she gets so into character that she does express a fluid gender change, and that type of mentality transfers to herself as well. Also I'm sorry but I 100% believe this girl is straight. Which is funny cause imagine her realizing she probably has the most lgbtq oriented cast in the century and she's just straight. Also if she did have a part in making the cast's personalities then that furthers my belief on her being straight.

I like to imagine that pre-game Kaede is more outward in her attraction to women (or just a lesbian in some headcanons), and I always liked to think that not only did Tsumugi make Kaede a creep towards her because of harmful lesbian rhetoric (the whole "oh your a lesbian? You're not into every girl you see or me right"). And Tenko's character being the biggest man hater in all of Danganronpa and sometimes creepy towards Himiko, her behavior towards Rantaro "so you're one of those", and Shuichi probably not being the cis man protag Tsumugi wants Shuichi to be. I feel like these harmful stereotypes had to come from a straight girl. Also I put Bicurious because I feel like as the game progresses she would start having feelings for some girls. Also because I like shipping her with mainly girls but still.

Maki Harukawa: Bisexual

Keeps her labels strict and legit. She likes both and she does not care. I feel like she would be Demiromantic but she wouldn't use the label, But I do feel like if she would think that a "normal" life would involve falling in love with a man, because of heteronormativity (I like to have Shuichi and Maki show some similarities in a way). But I still think she's bisexual. Part of me thinks while her feelings for Kaito were real, she also felt drawn to idea of a normal life and therefore a normal hetero relationship with him.

Himiko Yumeno: Cupioromantic Aceflux

Alright I 100% percent believe that she's in the aromantic spectrum. I always liked the idea of Tenko's and Himiko's romance arc not working out because of her feelings. Cupioromantic is a term where you desire a romantic relationship but you don't really feel any romantic desire or attraction. And I feel like this paints Himiko perfectly. I think she would try and force herself to like somebody because she's grown up mostly alone, but we know Himiko and if she feels unmotivated then it won't happen. I always see Himiko ending up in a queer platonic relationship because of this. As for her sexuality, I do feel like her unmotivated nature and depression would severely affect her supposed libido (sorry if that sounds weird but we can't deny high schoolers having a libido as a high schooler), and I don't think Himiko would be into that.

I'm going to make posts about ranking ships, but it's gonna be really drawn out because it's probably gonna be a post per character with an in depth analysis and ranking of all the ships within that game and THEN add my favorite ships across games (in a non-despair school au).

But first I'll post a sexuality hc post. However I had noticed that even when I have hcs for a certain character I still like ships where they don't exactly correlate to their hc. The main victim of this is Kaito, Ryoma, Hoshi, and Makoto.

I think my issue is that I'm a multi-shipper and I see multiple headcanons as canon.

You know what part of me realized about Kokichi's character? I feel like he knows exactly what a person needs and this is shown by how he treats that character's flaw.

Something obvious about Kokichi is that he's observant, and tends to point out others on their Bs. And I feel like he does this to help the person in different ways. But in doing so hes interpreted as a jerk (he is though don't get me wrong).

Let's look at how Himiko is throughout the game, she definitely doesn't express her stress easily despite honestly dealing with a lot, given that she was used as a scapegoat to pin two murders in a row. And Kokichi can tell that she's not really expressing what she feelings.

Yes, from Kokichi's point of view it seems a lot like she doesn't care, he calls her out on this because he notices a sudden change in how Himiko is treating Tenko's death, but I also feel like after the 3rd trial he immediately picks up on the fact that her holding in that emotional damage is not good for her, and she needs to let it out.

This example shows that while others wanted to give Himiko space, he recognized that this restraint was a flaw of hers that shouldn't have been normalized, and therefore being the only person to challenge her feelings, it helped her out on a lot of stress. She got to express what she was feeling and that helped her in being more vulnerable.

Now let's look at Miu as well, we know from Kaede that this girl is very lonely. She flaunts her body all the time as she feels her chest size and mindset is something that no one can easily come by. I definitely feel like I can relate to her, (as a busty person with higher gpa's I grew up in an environment where it felt like my body and grades were acknowledged more than myself), so I feel like I have the right to think that Miu grew up in a similar environment where she definitely feels like her body and ideas are her only good qualities. We also know that Miu doesn't mind arguing with people or getting insulted, which insinuates that she is histrionic which better highlights her need for attention.

Now this is a flaw, like Himiko, but we see that Kokichi tends to endorse this flaw, in fact he very flat out fuels it. He insults her, uses degrading terms. But while others in the cast try to ignore Mius antics, Kokichi gives her that attention that she craves. I understand Kokichi probably chose to do this because he knew that he would need to be vulnerable in some sense to tell Miu that she matter more or tell her that they are friends. I feel like if they weren't in a killing game they would def be closer and maybe some vulnerability would be shown after a while.

Even so, He seems to do a lot of opposite stuff that the cast does when it comes to a character's flaws.

In fact, I'm noticing a very "let's ignore this feature and hide from this character's prominent issue" from the cast while Kokichi is very head on with it. And this is with seen with other characters as well.

Shuichi always seems to be brushed off when it's obvious he struggles with some sense of neglect or feeling of unworthiness. I need to brush up on my memory but doesn't Maki just straight up leave when he sympathizes with Maki's feelings about doing something you don't wanna do? And I'm pretty sure Kaito also brushes off Shuichi as well.

And with Gonta, Gonta strives to be helpful as a gentleman but the only person that asks him if anything is Kokichi. Yes this is seen as Kokichi 'manipulating' him but has anyone thought that maybe Gonta likes to feel important and have others ask things of him. I don't think there is a lot of manipulation between these two as other people claim. And Kaito within Chapter 4 tries to disregard Gonta as a killer despite the evidence also shows how the cast seems to disregard the cold truth of things.

And that's probably why Kokichi is so villainized by the cast, he's blunt and annoying of course but we also see that Kokichi is definitely regarded as an outcast because of his different ways of approach.

Love the idea of Evil Kokichi, and I do try to not baby him as an innocent uwu soft boy, but I can't deny that when I look through the game it really seems more and more like he was severely misunderstood. Die hard Kokichi Defender not by choice, it's just in my blood.
