Heya! In case you missed it, I am working on formatting the absolutely show-stopping TMNT horror AU The Day the World Broke by @saladmix into a set of PHYSICAL BOOKS!! Because of its high word count, it would be split into the three different acts:

Act One: Chapters 1-13

Act Two: Chapters 14-30

Act Three: Chapters 31-TBD

SO MY QUESTION TO YOU!! If you have made fanart for this fic, please let me know whether or not you would be okay with it being included in the books (with credit, of course!) They would be included with the corresponding act in which the scene/moment takes place.

And don't worry, once completed, the files will be made available for those who wish to print their own copies. ^-^

Been thinking about the mutant apocalypse boys in The Road by @rheadanai lately, so I had to draw them!

This fic is soooo beautifully written. It follows the brain and brawn duo in the early days after the M-Bomb, long before we see them in the show. My attention was grabbed instantly and was held through its entirety. The dialogue and interactions felt so real, and there's a true understanding of the characters. It's so good, please go give it a read!!

Beast Mode has received its 100th kudos today!

Thank you to everyone who has read, interacted with, made art for and supported my little story! It means a tremendous amount to me that people are actually enjoying something I've made, my heart is so full and my motivation to finish writing is back. Part Three has officially hit 20k so at the rate it is going, I'm estimating it to end up around 25-30k with what I have left to write for it, if not more... oops.

Would you believe me if I told you that Beast Mode was supposed to be a oneshot? That was my plan when I started writing, to come up with a simple little idea, write it, and release it all at once. I had a general idea for what was going to happen and how it was going to end, so I didn't think it would be very long. But it just kept getting longer and longer the more I worked on it and fleshed it out, so I decided to split it up. That's the only reason my chapters are so long, because I was only going to split it into two parts.

...Clearly, I didn't think I was capable of writing so much, cue Part Three. At this point, I started wondering if I should have released more frequent and shorter chapters, but it's too late for that now. The more I write and do art for it, the more invested I've become, and the more it has evolved. I'm really excited about the rest of this story and can't wait to share it and all of the art I've done with you!

AAAAAHHHH OHMYGOSH THIS IS SO COOL!!! I love the colors, the transitions, and his little dance is soooo cute ohmygosh. The BEAST COMING AT US WITH THOSE FANGS and look at the crazy details in the background and WINGNUT LOOKS SO CONCERNED AAAAAHHH I'M SCREAMING!!! This is such a cool song choice too, I can't stop watching it on repeat. You did a fabulous job, you've been working hard as a hard worker over there, thank you sooo so much for this!

The reblog chain is one of the things that makes Tumblr unlike anywhere else. All the notes on reblogs are attributed to the original post, no matter which branch people actually liked or reblogged. We want to keep encouraging conversations, and give contributors the recognition they deserve. 

Soon, you'll be able to like, reblog, or reply to any part of a reblog chain, and that note will go to that reblog's author. Each reblog will have its own counts, instead of one aggregated number from every version of the post. And yes, you’ll be able to like multiple posts in one chain.

If a reblog doesn't add anything, the love flows up to the last person in the chain who did. Your post doesn't lose notes just because people spread it quietly.

Past notes will stay on the original post — we're only changing what happens from here on out. Retroactively re-attributing all of them would be... a lot.

TMNT Fanfic Recs for a Rainy Day

Before the hyperfixation loses its grip on me (still going strong but ya never know when some other something is gonna dig its claws in and drag you down), I wanted to share some of the wonderful little stories I’ve read recently. I love all versions and read almost all versions. Please check these out and comment and let the authors know they fucking rock! 

(NO tcest and also I have a Donnie bias that shows. *shrug* can’t help that he’s the best turtle)

2003

Shell Game by T33la (complete) Incredibly creative post-SAINW story that tackles what might’ve happened to the Donatello of the bad timeline. Basically, our purple boy discovers his own (empty) shell hanging in an antique shop. Super fun time travel shenanigans ensue. (apologies to @punctuated-equilibrium, who dealt with me commenting a million times a day for like three weeks straight as I made my way through all of their works, sorrythankyouloveyou)

As It Never Will Be by halogalopaghost (complete) There are many SAINW fics out there, but this one is the shit, people. Fantastic angst, excellent characterization, everything I wanted to see in the actual show that never happened. @halogalopaghost

Out of Depth by Im_The_Doctor (complete) Fluff for the soul. Turtle tot sickfic with fantastic Splinter characterization—and we all know 03 Splinter killed it in the parenting department. This fic captures that well, and so do all the other turtle tot fics written by this author. (What’s Yours is Mine is another favorite)

2012 

Non-Local Displacement by HeyAssbuttImBatman (series) This is the start of a long and lovely fix-it series that explores Donnie’s leadership potential prior to The Invasion. It basically backtracks from the argument between Don and Leo in that episode, exploring how their leadership skills might clash and work in tandem with each other throughout season 2. Capritello included, for those who indulge.

Split the Night by T33la (complete) This fic changed me. Such a wonderful and creative implementation of a unique plot. Raph finds himself trapped between two realities, one where Donnie and Leo are alive, one where Donnie and Mikey are alive. A fantastic exploration of how each brother deals with loss and grief. So compelling. 

Raph and the Machine by NightOwl1600 (complete) Explores the relationship between Raph and Donnie in the Mutant Apocalypse. Raph has lost his memory and Donnie is on his way to becoming Donbot. This story HIT ME. HARD. And inspired me to write my own Mutant Apocalypse fic. Hey, those episodes kinda sucked but the fanfiction writers know how to fix it, babes.

Batman vs TMNT

Four Turtles in A Van by WhatTheVoid (complete) This was excellent??? Literally just the guys making their way home post-movie. It’s sweet and well-written and so in character for the turtles. Smiled to myself the whole time I was reading it.

Rise

Before I Sleep by Rimshot (ongoing) Gotta promo my IRL buddy Rimshot, who loves rottmnt apocalypse and writes it like a master. This story follows the brothers after Raph’s death as they struggle to bind his spirit to a robot body. Heavy on plot, inspired by Cass Apocalypse, fantastic dialogue and brotherly banter. Go pester them in the comments, they’ve got some cool things in the works that I cannot wait to read :)

A Twin Thing by minima (complete) My absolute favorite disaster twins fic of all time. A collection of stories from childhood to adulthood with a common theme. This was just a really fun read, super compelling, a bajillion kudos!

Little Scraps of Wisdom by clandestineClairvoyant (series) A fucking killer AU where the boys are raised by a human Lou Jitsu. I rarely read works with original characters, but these OCs are not only fantastically characterized, they also serve the story really, really well. Entertaining. Funny. Full of fluff. My teeth rotted away while reading this. 

Point Grey/MM

Beast Mode by Shyalia (ongoing) A lovely little story about our favorite insecure purple turtle, who begins micro-dosing himself with the ooze to get stronger. Bad ThingsTM happen. I’m so excited to see how this one concludes—definitely give it a read if you haven’t! @shyalia

wise by reesespiecesofart (complete) A touching and wonderful one-shot that deals with self-harm and anxiety. It perfectly captures the way unhealthy thought patterns turn into even unhealthier actions. This is absolutely one of the most well-written MM fics I’ve ever read. @reesespiecesofart

I also write occasionally :) got a soft spot for Donatello and I just love trapping his ass in a robot body and making everyone existential about it. Read Thunder and The Road, different stories but very much the same flavor.

I don’t have all the tumblr handles but I included the ones I knew ⭐️ VIOLENTLY THROWING KUDOS AT ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL TMNT AUTHORS I LOVE YOU ⭐️

Everyone should go read How to Build Rome in a Day by @reesespiecesofart on Ao3!!! It's soooo good and the premise is really cool. I'm enjoying it a lot! It has been neat watching the story unfold so far, and it's just getting started. I love the dynamic between Brutus and Casey, they're so much fun and a joy to read. And these outfit designs are PEAK, how could I NOT draw them???

OHMYGOSH MY HEART SKIPPED WHEN I SAW THIS, HOLY FREAKING HECK EVERYONE LOOK AT THIS MASTERPIECE!!! I am sooo glad it made it out of the drafts because this is GORGEOUS

I honestly really love how you drew the beast here! He's so sleek and ominous and sinister looking, especially with the purple shadows and the green glow reflecting off his fangs and saliva. And then Donnie, my poor poor boy is going through it. His melancholic expression hurts my heart. The ooze flowing freely from his hands and off towards the "camera" shows how out of control everything gets, like it's completely out of his hands.

Thank you, this art is incredible. I love the composition and the vibe of it, TRULY THANK YOU SO MUCH!! It was such a surprise and joy to see this as I'm working on Part Three.
