Welcome to the Aurora Big Bang!
-> What's a Big Bang?
A Big Bang is a writer-centric event where writers come into the event with a fic in mind, have that idea approved by the mod(s), write it during the designated creation period, and reach at least a minimum word count. Artists will be paired up with writers about half-way through the creation period based on who is interested in what fic prompts, and artists will create a piece based on the fic they're assigned to. All art and fics are withheld from posting until the end of the creation period where then a "Big Bang" of creative content will be posted online at a designated date and time. During the event, artists and writers will have regular check-in dates to see if everything is running smoothly or if the creation period needs to be adjusted.
-> What is the minimum word count for this event?
It will likely be 2k-3k minimum with no set maximum. This may change based on likely participant feedback polls that will start running if the account gains enough traction in the coming weeks. Additionally, the writing may occur in any format such as traditional novel style, poetry, screenwriting style, and more. If you're wondering if your specific style of writing is allowed in this event, the answer is probably yes, but you may send an ask if you'd like confirmation.
-> Are there minimum art requirements for this event?
All I ask that you make a solid effort to create a full piece in whatever medium you make your art in that is related to your writer partner's fic. This can include dubs, collages, playlists, drawn/illustrated/painted pieces, comics, animations, cosplays, sewn/stitched pieces, original songs, and more! If you're wondering if your specific medium is allowed in this event, the answer is probably yes, but you may send an ask if you'd like confirmation.
-> Can I participate as an artist and a writer? Could I make more than one fic/art piece?
If you think you can do both by the end of December, then yes! For simplicity for running the event, participants will be limited to two pieces (unless feedback polls show people really want to be able to do more).
-> When will sign-ups open?
When there's enough interest. We're looking for at least 5 writers and 5 artists to participate. No prior experience in other Big Bang events is required. But the hope is sometime in September.
-> Are you looking for moderators?
Not at this time. If the event gets big enough (such as more than 20 participants), we may ask for some help.
-> What's the rules on ships and OCs?
All ships are welcome so long as the characters within are from Aurora. This includes rarepairs, non-canon ships, polyamorous ships, platonic ships, and more. Aurora OCs are welcome to be part of your fics and artwork. Additionally, you do not have to include ships or OCs in your created piece if you don't want to.
-> How will writers and artists contact each other?
When the time comes, there will be an official Discord server opened and all participants will be asked to join it. Once pairings have been made, writers and artists will get their own channel in the server they can use to communicate in.
