Like not just "we shouldn't make fun of type 1 diabetes because that's autoimmune". But certainly don't make fun of type 1, it's well and truly beyond the control of the person with it and I can guarantee that every type 1 diabetic has paid more attention to their carbohydrate intake in a single day than you have in your entire life.
Type 2 is not just a "ate too much sugar" disease. There's so many uncontrollable factors that increase your risk - your ethnicity, your genetics, whether your mother had gestational diabetes when you were in utero, your hormones. I see a lot of patients, I see many who are young and eat healthy and still have the misfortune of type 2 diabetes. I also see many who eat "all the wrong things", do no exercise, are morbidly obese, and still do not get type 2 diabetes. While lifestyle can play a roll in management, it's much more caused by factors outside a person's control.
nothing makes me go "ooooh we are NOT the same" quite like reading some post about how people talk with their parents about their interests. what do you mean you told your father about stevebucky. what do you mean he asked further questions
"i sent this article to my relative" "mom & i were discussing dialectical materialism" you navigate the world with such a different set of parameters than i

Being an adult will have you unironically craving a vegetable
Being an adult will have you unironically sad about a parasite outbreak in fresh vegetables.
makes me so sad when my friends refuse to pirate things and insist on paying for a streaming service EVEN when i offer to do it for them or teach them. like pleaseeee i have a vpn i have a plex server i can get you whatever you want. don't buy disney+ i can be your little poob i have it for you.
do you think insight can be gained about an author from the stories they write?
no. authors are like squids and can only be understood through spirited but ultimately futile combat
healthcare provider: do you have to pee unusually often?
me: well, I don't know how many times a day the average person pees. the relevant data I have is that I am currently on a medication that helps me have to pee less often, and also that before I was on this medication, I had to pee a number of times per day that I personally found frustrating and inconvenient, although I often think that some degree of that is due to our society not being built to accommodate people who need to pee really often.
healthcare provider: most people pee between four and seven times a day.
me: oh yeah then I'm totally normal.
healthcare provider: I would not go that far
