Hi, hello! I'm Silver, and love all types of story-driven rpgs where you can make your own character, so that's what I mainly post about : ) Originally I was exclusively a dragon age blog, and you'll see remnants of that in my archive, but I've expanded since then.
I post and reblog stuff about: Dragon Age, The Elder Scrolls, Baldur's Gate 3, Pillars of Eternity, Pathfinder and more. Every post is tagged with the appropriate fandom, in case you wish to blacklist anything.
I draw (mostly oc stuff) under #my art, and like taking pictures under #my screenshots. Once in a blue moon, I also write. I have an Ao3 for that (SilverSynthesis), but it only has 2 very old one-shots on there.
A comprehensive oc page is still a WIP, so for now you can look stuff up about them under #my ocs or the character's name (list sorted by fandom under the cut)
a new changeling mod dropped that has the exact visuals I always wanted and omg...it's making me reconsider if my Durge should be one, instead of a half-drow...
[long oc musings under cut]
I initially picked Vere to be a half-drow because I adored the design I made with it. Narratively, I always thought of Vere as "visually being half dark, half light" expresses their fight to do good despite their dark urges the best, but that's never quite fully satisfied me....(because that doesn't quite make sense if you view it from Bhaal's perspective. Why include any "light" at all when creating your perfect murder tool, even if just visually?)
It's also always bothered me that their drow-ness didn't have much relevancy, if at all....Sure, a Dark Urge feeling so estranged from their race is very much the point, doubly so since they're said to have grown up in Baldur's Gate, but it just felt a lot like lost potential to me...The drow have SO SO much lore (I don't think I even know the half of it, haha). The game doesn't recognize you being a half-drow much to boot, so aside from some small moments (like your first interaction with Minthara), it just kindaaa felt like a waste.
Making them a changeling, though? That changes some things...
What if, after seeing Sarevok's legacy in Helena and Orin, Bhaal thought to himself: "Hmph. You think you've done me justice through this? I'll show you just how much you're still lacking in perfection" and sculpted his harbinger of doom to be a Changeling to spite Saverok and his entire family???
That gives an entire new layer of fucked up interactions / complexes to EVERYONE, but most importantly Orin and Vere, of course!
How the hell is Orin ever supposed to escape her inferiority complex now, if she can see how much Bhaal denies her despite everything she does for him when she just stares at her kin's face and finds a hollow mirror to hers staring back??? Just...the hatred that would fan is so, so vicious!! (But also, imagine, the slightest hint of hesitation before she goes to maim them, because this IS her kin, in more ways than one....)
Vere's entire thing of feeling like a twisted, hollow vessel made for an unknown purpose, hits SO much harder this way too?? They're literally a blank slate that can be anything required to fulfill their mission! The perfect killer, never caught, because the masks they wear hides their trail as it never existed at all.....
It gives them being agender/nb such cool additional layer as as well??? They can literally decide themselves which, if any, parts or characteristics they have! Though, well, if they're subjected to the failed!Durge ending, that's just ANOTHER THING that Bhaal is using to his advantage to subjugate and abuse them....oughhhh that's so sick and twisted, my god...
ALSO, the camp shenanigans this could ensue?? I can just SEE the entire party being a bit taken a aback at first, then being ok with it ("might as well happen with all the amount of crazy we're already dealing with, right?") and THEN all of them wanting Vere to use that to their advantage, be that in a serious or silly situation LOLL (even more fun bc Vere isn't really the "mischievous" type themselves, so that means they're roped into it all the time dhdhshshsff).
Bonus bonus thing? They look freaking AWESOME, but also still look like themselves :)
read all of witch hat atelier in a week because the anime dropping finally hooked me in and. I'm fucking devastated. favorite manga of all time to me, oh my goddddddddddddd.
Musing over the outfit for my Watcher of Caed Nua - who hails from the Living Lands herself - as an Avowed companion!
Dalla is a melee Cipher who works best for crowds of enemies. She may come equipped with Whisper of Treason, Silent Scream, Soul Annihilation and Soul Whip (reskinned to give allies mana instead?).
