Hello! You can call me Hatter. I’m twenty - five, and use she/her pronouns. This is my roleplay account for Meggie Folchart from the Inkheart series! ✨📖

I’ve been writing practically my entire life. It’s my dream to become a published author. I first read Inkheart when I was around 12/13 and I immediately fell in love with the story and the characters and they have NOT left my head since. I’m so excited to read The Colour of Revenge when the English translation is published.

My portrayal of Meggie will be sticking closely to the book canon, but I will be portraying her at multiple ages — from thirteen all the way to eighteen+. I adore her character and I’ve written as her before but never on tumblr, so excited to bring her over here.

Beth Harmon is autistic

What the title says.

No, lol, okay, i'm going to elaborate because imo she may be the best female autistic representation in media.

Autistic representation in media is basically one thing: white, cis boy genius.

Yes, Beth is white and she is extremely intelligent but she is a woman (!). This is very important as many female autistics go unnoticed. (also, I think she is not straight as it's implied that she has a fling with Cleo but many people disagree with that.).

So, here are some of her asd traits:

1.) Beth is socially inept and often speaks in a monotone voice. She is shown to be confused by social situations multiple times through the show. (like when she is at the party with her classmates and when Harry kisses her).

2.) Her special interest is chess, obviously.

3.) She makes too much eye contact or avoids it completely.

4.) She is extremely honest and blunt to the point that people may find her rude.

5.) She has a monotone expression.

6.) She has a hard time showing emotion and expressing her feelings.

7.) She is resistant to change and is upset when something doesn't go as planned.

Meggie tenses as the cold blade of a knife kisses her throat. A flicker of anxiety and panic washes over her. Is it Basta? Come to finish the job? She exhales shakily and turns her head to look up at her attacker.

A familiar face stares back at her. Shaggy red hair, three pale scars.

“Dustfinger?”

the youngest son of the toussant line sat at the table in the corner, reading a book, eyes only glancing up when he saw a shadow pass over him. claude, his brother, was insistent he participate in these events. he knew he should have a proposal given out by the end of this season.

"pardon." he lowers the book. "do you need something?"

Meggie didn’t enjoy society events. They made her feel awkward, uncomfortable. She didn’t have many friends, and she wasn’t a huge fan of dancing either. But Mo insisted that she attend these balls. He was dancing with her mother, Resa, and the two looked to be having a lovely time. Meggie scoffed.

She would find a nice dark corner to hide in, and pray nobody bothered her for the remainder of the evening.

Meggie noticed the book first, before she saw the young man holding it. Her curiosity was piqued and she stepped closer to try and read the cover.

His voice made her jump. “Oh, my apologies. I was just trying to see what you were reading. I’ll leave you now.” A quick curtsy.

Do you visit Elinor often?

“As often as we can. She’s doing pretty good. She lives with Darius now.”

How do you feel about Dustfinger? Do you trust him, given his rocky past?

“When I first met Dustfinger, I didn’t trust him at all. Plus, he betrayed Mo and myself when he brought us to Capricorn. But then he helped us escape … When I arrived in the Inkworld he was one of the few people who looked out for me. I think we have grown to have a good relationship.”

What do you want to do for a career, Meggie? Do you think it would be fair for you to read money out of books and live off that, so that you can pursue whatever hobbies you'd like without financial concern?

“I want to be a writer, like Fenoglio! Publish my own stories. I think I would like to earn my own money, rather than reading it out of books. That sounds a bit like cheating.”

Hey Meggie, how did you feel when you found out Mo was hiding his silvertongue from you? How do you feel about having one, yourself?

“Hey! I was amazed more than anything when Mo told me he was a Silvertongue. It made sense then, why he never read aloud to me as a child. And I was jealous too. I wanted to be just like him. When my own ability revealed itself I was excited but also terrified because I was trapped in Capricorn’s village.”

“I know, Mo,” she murmurs, glancing over at him. Her beautiful father, her favourite person in the world. “But if we don’t talk about it, then it will just be like it never happened..”

“I wouldn’t bother with that one, it’s so convoluted.” He couldn’t ward off the warning, couldn’t halt it’s insistence on slipping from his tongue. Not when this girl’s time was at stake, and about to be wasted. He’d trudged about halfway through the novel she held before finally setting it down. He’d been afraid if he’d read one more page he might not be able to resist the urge to chuck it out the nearest window.

“Have you given the Lord of the Rings a try?”

Meggie looked up from her book in surprise. Her eyes landed on an unfamiliar figure; the one who had spoken. She had been reading War and Peace, and while the book was very obviously a classic, she was struggling with it.

How had he known that, though?

She shook her head in amusement. “It is. But I am not one to give up on a book halfway through.” She turned to face him properly.

Meggie’s brows raised. “Of course I’ve read Lord of the Rings! One of the best series of all time.”
