The Monday’s plan had always been to attempt a walk around the headland from Padstow to Harlyn Bay. A hike of around 7 miles up and down dale and, dare I say, rocks and a lot of them. If you are a regular reader of this blog, you will note that food appears quite a lot. In these troubled times, I thought I would take a moment to write something about food that doesn’t cost a fortune but is tasty and feeds many. Ham hock goes a long way. Two purchased on Saturday from our local village butchers, C.R. Potters for a total price of £3.98. That’s 2.8kg of meat product for under £4!!

Carveoiro 2019 – Day 9
So what to do on a Sunday? A gentle stroll into town for a small bite to eat (large lunch consumed). The coastline around here is generally 100ft above the sea apart from the beaches naturally. So no promenade walk. Instead the clever townsfolk have constructed the Carveoiro boardwalkalong the edge of the cliffs offing stunning views and a chance to glimpse some of the the local flora and fauna.

Set on a hill above the town it is located in a beautiful area of similar villas all with large grounds and immaculate gardens. In the bottom of the valley is the main road in and out of town. This is where the problems start.

So we have found our feet, getting to know the quickest route into town, where the restaurants are and just as important, the bars.
What we hadn’t explored was the resort in general. This is where these little tourist “trains” come in handy. For €4 we set off on the 12:00 departure for a 45 minute tour up and down some very narrow streets and steep hills.
