it's crazy how 2020 was 6 years ago, it was a weird fuckin year man like it's how i found myself and a community that supported me in many ways, without those people i wouldn't have been the person that i am thank you so much xoxo

somewhat related to my prev reblog (ty mutual for reminding me of this!!) but I see so many people cluelessly using weird, sketchy software for making things, or some Microsoft knockoff of actually good software stuffed with ads, so here are some actually good pieces of software that are very good and pretty widely used:

Audacity - Basic audio recording/manipulation/analysis software. Regularly receives updates even today and has alot of effects.

OBS - Digital recording/streaming software. It's more versatile than people think!! The 'video buffer' feature basically replaces sketchy services like Medal or Overwolf (<- evil) for clipping.

Davinci Resolve - Video editing software. The details page on the website for download may scare people off, but none of it is actually mandatory, you can put anything in and it'll let you get it. Very useful, and has a paid version for some extra fancy effects.

Blender - 2D + 3D Animation/Modelling/VFX software. Complicated, but extremely versatile when learnt. It is worth it to atleast know how to use it for one thing. I personally only know how to animate in it, yet it's still made my life so much easier.

Firealpaca - Art/Image editing software. Yes, there are more professional art programs out there, but I think Firealpaca has the best of both worlds. It has filters/effects I see other programs ask you to pay for while keeping alot of the functionality and basics. Has a paid version (Firealpaca SE) on Steam for some extra things.

Wallpaper Engine - Allows for custom animated wallpapers. This is the only paid one mentioned in this list, but I see so many people using sketchy fake wallpaper programs that I have to atleast mention it. This also allows for wallpapers to be interactable, audio responsive, etc.

i wanna add something here and recommend LibreOffice as an alt for Microsoft Office/365! it's not as perfect and might miss some features (not sure which ones tho, barely use microsoft office) but as an office suite, it's good! 👍

its actually easy to de-enshittify your digital experience all you need to do is install this browser extension and this browser extension and this browser extension and input this custom script into the advanced box and go into your system settings and reconfigure all these options you didnt know existed and change your entire workflow and switch to this alternative operating system and this alternative web browser and this alternative chat client and this alternative word processor and this alternative- sorry that one turned out to be malware delete that one okay now double check your task manager for unwanted background processes and element block these ads and invest in a good VPN and append all your searches with AI blocking keywords and wait a few years until everything you just did becomes shitty too so you can do it all over again okay kitten. its literally that easy.
