Some places call us more often than we think we must visit them. It may be an altered side of our heart telling us to be in contact with the places, people and things that it had left its parts in. It may be the heart’s desire to have a rendezvous with those left parts as agreed upon by it at the time of leaving them there. And I can’t help but to follow my heart’s will and go back to those places. In the moments of ambiguity, we must look for the solutions in nearby available options because the farther we go the stretch of ambiguity stretches farther away. And don’t we all know about the master art only Indians have – “Jugaad”. Here is our, the mountaineer, version of the Jugaad. We were stuck in the deep snow and we had no clue of how to put up our tents. That time our skilled instructor told us to make a flat surface by arranging the nearby lying flat rocks. At first, I was not sure of the idea but anyhow we did it. But later on, I was amazed to see that it actually worked. So, maybe that’s a regular way of putting a tent in such situations but I saw it as Jugaad. My life is a journey and as it happens I keep going with it never realizing my pace. Sometimes I stop in between to rest and sometimes I stop just to admire the surroundings. But what I forget in maintaining my pace ahead is to relish upon those moments I like. So, as the journey continues, now I pause for a while to savour the offerings of nature. As I hurry up to reach my destination; I don’t forget to pause for a while in place worth a stop. I spread my hands and live up the moment as much as I can. We have been dealing with hardships of our everyday life; education, career, job, families and thousand other issues. We complain about weather changes and think we struggle to commute in never-ending traffic. We assume the resources available to us are limited and we must be having more of everything to make our lives easy and smooth. But we forget to realize, it’s not our lives that are tough. It’s the life of people living in the extreme weather conditions, in the most deserted locations. These people have limited supplies to live and commute is one major issue. Yet, they don’t complain because they feel they have an abundance of everything to survive and that’s what they say with a smile and the simplicity that they carry on their faces. They are the mountain man.
