❝ you’re either laughing because you’re scared, or you’re laughing because you’re stupid ❞ Is that JENSEN ACKLES? no, you’re mistaken, that’s actually XAVIER SMITH { he, him }. He is a 42 year old VAMPIRE. He is a BARTENDER can easily be found at/in IO- ROOFTOP BAR or GREENHAVEN. Hhe is known for being VOLATILE, RUTHLESS and SARCASTIC but also DETERMINED, LOYAL, and PROTECTIVE You could probably bribe them with WHISKEY or piss them off by TRYING TO HUNT THEM.
❝ that’s the way i am about winning, all i ever wanted to do was finish first ❞ Is that TAYLOR RUSSELL? no, you’re mistaken, that’s actually AVERY JOHNSON { she, her }. She is a 28 year old HUMAN. She is a LIBRARIAN can easily be found at/in UNIVERSITY OF LOST SANTOS or GREENHAVEN. She is known for being STUBBORN, PERFECTIONIST and ANXIOUS but also COMPASSIONATE, INTELLIGENT, and RATIONAL You could probably bribe them with CUPCAKES AND COFFEE or piss them off by BEING A DICK.
XAVIER: TW: death. child death. nothing brutal of course.
Looks 42 because that was the age that he died. In reality he is about 458 years old, but he thinks he’s adorable no matter what.
I’m summarizing his life because it’s midnight and I do not feel like typing out a whole bio.
Born in the family hunting business. It was always him and his dad. He got out and found love in a woman named Amanda.
Had 2 beautiful children ages 10 and 11. He wanted what he never had -- a normal childhood. He left hunting for a good while until his father showed up one night.
“Last hunt. I’m done.” were his infamous last words. Nest of vampires were too many for the duo and while trying to outrun them only led the remaining survivors back to his own place.
Father died after an attack instantly. He couldn’t help him. For revenge the surviving vampires killed his wife and children in front of his eyes and to relive this day for the rest of his life turned him into a vampire.
For revenge hunted him. Became a hunter of the supernatural despite being a vampire. Hunted in the night until he was able to move around in daylight.
Hunted the supernatural for centuries until he met Rikki who taught him to accept himself and who he is. Now he’s just hanging around town and tries to drink away the pain of being a monster with so many people’s deaths on his hands.
Constantly in a self-loathing, will cover it up with sarcasm mood. A big ball of fuzz if you try to get to know him, but he probably won’t let you in unless you’ve spent a decade with him. Naturally if you try to kill him, he’ll kill you and then hide the body in the woods or something. You didn’t hear it here.

Avery;
Human child who has a major love for science and reading. 28, finished her masters in library science and became a librarian at the university. She’s worked her butt off and despite hearing rumors all her life about monsters being in the shadows she’s pretty stuck up about proving anyone who believes in monsters wrong. Simply because they are not real.
If she isn’t in the library, you’ll find her sipping on coffee and reading a book. She wants to become a professor at the library but she would need her PH.D for that and being a librarian doesn’t necessarily pay a good salary to be able to go back to school. She’s still sitting on that idea, but to teach physicis would be her dream job.
She has come from a hard background, her family weren’t exactly ‘high class’ or ‘upper class’ you can say and that is why Avery decided to do everything her parents didn’t. She could never blame them, they tried to be good parents and they were there for her. They just weren’t good for each other and it only tore them apart.
Perhaps for the best, still the reality is people tear people apart. Not monsters that many people like to whisper about. Those are all folktales and fantasies and once again she does not mind sitting there to prove you wrong. She finds such arrogance in being right (someone come and humble her right now). She’s a perfectionist, needs everything done perfectly.
But she’s also human, she’s still trying to navigate through life, find out why she isn’t settled with a good partner (even tho her fear is deeply seated from watching her parents terrorize each other physically and verbally). She’s just trying to understand life.

If you follow back, great and if not, great. You will be checking out the blog and i'm sure of it.
My message is plain and simple.
You could have just told me you lost interested and wanted to drop the threads instead of blocking me on everything. You are 30+ of age yet you didn't have the decency to tell me in a mature way you were going to drop our rp.
I'd have appreciated you more and respected you more for it.
Running errands for his mother was something he made time for at least once a week, not that she couldn’t get out and do them herself but he wanted to take some work off her plate when he could. When she had time to read he wasn’t sure, he still was under the suspicion she wasn’t human or he would be if hadn’t heard terrible things about some around the city actually not being human. Walking through the shelves of books looking for the next couple on his mother’s list he overheard the girl. “Hell no.” He answers honestly with a shake of his head. He dated once in awhile, would not claim to be any mastermind in knowings of women but he never heard one talking like that. “Pretty sure that is the whole point though, these things are suppose to take people out of the real world for a bit.” He wasn’t one to read, not unless it was about food and some new cooking style. He never had time to sit around reading about space pirates, elves or whatever else kids around him were when growing up. “Take it with a grain of salt.”
-
The response was enough to console her because there was no way she’d ever be able to get in a relationship if all her partners expected her to talk like... that. She shuddered at the thought of even trying and she wasn’t sure if that was sad or normal. Looking through the space of books lined on the shelf until she could set her eyes on him, she acknowledged his words. Yes, it was true that many people did need to take a break from the real world, but to read something like that? Well that part confused her. “I mean, there’s a lot of interesting things about space and time that can help them keep their mind off of whatever it is that they need a break from.” she added; It was easier for her, all technical, no emotions involved. Emotions just seemed to complicate things but then to have people actually write about them? No. Take it with a grain of salt --noted.
Avery walked around the aisle until she met him in the aisle that he was currently in. “What books are you into?” she asked because clearly he was searching for books so it only made sense to ask right?
Xavier wasn’t enjoying the chatter from the group of people that were being pests and nuiances for the rest of the patron at the bar. When one of the idiots walked up to the bar, Xavier had draped a washcloth over his shoulder as he stared at the person ready to order drinks for their group of friends.
“So how about this, free round of drinks on me if you leave those people over there alone.” he gestured to the few people who had to put up with their moronic ways. From the looks of it, it seemed as if they had considered their offer but even Xavier knew they’d only agree for the free drinks. It seemed like it was going to be a long night at the rooftop bar tonight, or at most someone was bound to get kicked out. He just couldn’t wait to do it sooner rather than later.
"it’s so crazy to think that things that I thought only lived in my imagination can be real. but then i touch you, and it’s like every fantasy i ever had coming true."
avery had to pause and stare at the words for a moment. her eyes read over each word once again even though she had just read it aloud. ‘do people actually talk like that?’ she found herself slamming the fiction novel she held in her hand to place it back where it belonged on the shelf. usually she dealt with books that were more textbook. today she decided to stop by the bookshop with her companion and that was the first book that caught her eye.
“i mean, really, do women talk like that in relationships? or do guys say weird as heck things of that nature? is that supposed to melt our hearts?” she asked her companion for the evening. she clearly enjoyed nonfiction for a reason.
“I mean, I already have a coral reef one, and a wave…” The last which she showed to the other, pulling up the hem of her right sleeve to showcase the wave tattoo on her inner wrist. “I was thinking maybe a bluebell one somewhere, or maybe something art inspired?” Kalea thought aloud to her companion, who she’d managed to rope into a conversation about her next possible ink design. “I’m not sure though, the options are limitless and I’m not fully settled on any one idea. What do you think? If you were going to get a tattoo, what are some ideas you’d have in mind?” She asked curiously. Maybe their thoughts could strike some inspiration for her. Bouncing ideas off of others had helped her in the past, whether they be related to her art or other areas in her life. This time being a prime example.
avery wasn’t the type to go out and get tattoos. hell she had a low tolerance for pain and would most definitely pass out or chicken out. regardless, how was the other able to do it, she didn’t dare to ask. it amused her really to see how many she had gotten, which weren’t all alike in any sense. as she mentioned, her options were limitless so biting on the inside of her cheek, avery thought of the only thing that truly did interst her. ‘what about the galaxy? a tattoo of the supernova, or when the universe first formed? the big bang? or just stars?” she asked. if anything, it was something she would definitely consider for herself that is if she were ever brave. maybe one day, but right now was not the time for her.
“--or what about some sort of abstract art tattoo? i mean abstracts are cool, right? it could be whatever you want it to be because it’s just an abstract.” again her suggestions were bleck, but she was trying to help.
not in the traditional sense so much as he couldn’t find a reason to listen to those worries and doubts. raff knew he was alive so he had nothing keeping him tip-toeing around like he was walking a minefield. still, it felt like he ought to hold his breath. everything was too good to be true. richard isn’t used to being able to just kiss and make up. there was always some other shoe about to drop.
maybe that was why he was hanging around his old haunt watching the wolf at the other end of the bar work.
the ugly duckling isn’t particularly busy most nights but it’s always tuesday he finds himself here now. trivia night holds an odd sentimentality now. it’s hard to forget old habits and harder still to keep from staring now that he’s got nothing to hide. guess that’s why he doesn’t notice when a figure takes the seat at his elbow until the movement draws his gaze away from skimming the rest of the bar. quiet a moment, he looks them over, tips his beer to take a sip, and shifts a little to make room. maybe it wouldn’t hurt to be sociable.
She’d gotten a message on binge a dating app from a guy named Paul, last name being Walker -- ironically enough. They’d planned to meet at the bar and grab a few drinks. Avery didn’t drink on her first dates - in fact, she didn’t drink at all simply due to the fact that she couldn’t hold her alcohol well and she was sure she’d just end up scaring the guy away.
But that’s what all the cool and hipster people did. It’s probably why everyone was finding love because their partners could drink -- so she agreed to meet at The Ugly Duckling. The smell of alcohol didn’t bother her as much as being on her own. Her anxiety tended to kick in when the realization that people would be able to tell she didn’t belong there would hit.
Dressed in skinny jeans and a button down shirt with a grey sweater cardigan? It felt like she missed the turn to the library. Her purse hung over her shoulder as she made her way over to the bar to the only empt seat so far.
She looked around, the smell of sweat and alcohol only filling her nostril as she got closer to the bar made her wonder if she should just reschedule the date. She was about to, she was very close to telling Paul that she couldn’t make it until a thought hit her. If she couldn’t do thins outside of her comfort zone, she’d never get anywhere in life which is why she pulled out her phone to send a quick ‘i’m here text.’
He hadn’t responded - hadn’t been responding for the past hour in fact. As she placed her phone on the bar top, waiting for a notification to light up her phone, she only grew unsure with each passing minute, until the voice beside her broke her out of her thoughts.
“You can say that. You wouldn’t by any chance be a Paul Walker, would you?” she couldn’t help but ask, even if it was such a foolish thing to ask. He did not look like the picture on his profile. Was she being catfished? Was she being played? Should she go home? Well she’d stay for another hour before deciding. Perhaps he was running late and his phone was dead so he couldn’t respond.
Since his last talk with Leo, Todd had been trying to come out of his comfort zone. He was so used to being alone, the idea of going out and participating in life felt strange to him. Hiding was what he was used to but… the young vampire was right when he told him life was too short, even for someone like him, to work and be “”boring”” all the time. Perhaps it was too late, but he was certainly trying to do better. If not for himself then for Leo. He had woken up on his day off with the initial intent to just relax but the gnawing feeling at the pit of his stomach convinced him to get up and do something with his time that didn’t involve sleeping.
That lapse in judgement was why he was on rollerblades playing hockey with a group of kids he’d never met before. He wasn’t terrible at it but her certainly wasn’t good at it either. He laughed as a girl sped by him, easily bypassing him to make a goal. The kids jeered playfully at him, and he shook his head, pushing his hair out of his face. “Give me a break you guys!” he laughed and took the ball back in passing, doing an awkward job of skating backwards. “It’s been years since I put on roller blades. At least give me some time to practice before wiping the dirt with me.”
He passed the ball to one of them before toppling backwards over into the bushes. He sat there in stunned silence for a long moment, branches poking him harshly in the sides before he burst out into a fit of laughter, unable to hold it back. It felt good to laugh; really laugh, and not feel like he was faking it to appease other people. This was genuine. “Can one of you little lawn gnomes help me?” he asked over the sound of their laughter. “This isn’t the most comfortable place to take a nap!”
How had he managed to convince her into this? She had no idea. They had been talking about the universe and how black holes were made. At least that was their choice of topic; Heck, she was getting ready to even give him a whole list on books to read when it came to the universe, specifically from Stephen Hawking. Now, they were playing hockey in roller blades and she found herself being the goalie.
It seemed easy enough, right? She didn’t have to move anywhere, except block the shot of course. When she noticed the opponent team coming her way, she was ready. Only, she wasn’t because she didn’t know how to play the game propelry. She was barely balancing in her roller blades and seeing the opposing team come her way was just too -- frightening. yes, it was frightening okay? What if they skated right into her?
She wasn’t even looking at the opponent team because of the fact that Todd had fallen flat on his back in the bushes. She dropped her own hockey stick and carefully - while wobbling- skated over to him. “Todd, are you okay?” she asked. From his laughter, she could tell that he was doing just fine.
“Okay, we’re done playing because you’re going to get stabbed by a branch and I don’t want you to get infected from a stab wound by a sharp branch.” Alright, in reality she was sure his huge back muscles would save him, but she’d get stabbed by a twig or something. “Your team won. I would know, I avoided blocking every goal.” she added before extending her arm out to help him up. You know, the best way that she can without falling on her own butt.
Amused Rikki nods her head, “Oh yes, I decided since you had the way memorized I would talk the board into moving them just to see your confusion and for the chance to escort you.” She falsely admits with a crossing of her arms over her chest before shaking her head at him and approaching to take his arm. An act that at one point might have been dangerous and even to this very day it could be dangerous just in a vastly different tone. Fate was something only the simple of mind believed in at least in her own opinion, they crossed paths many times over the years. That was only a matter of the fact the world could only be so large for those with expanded lives. If they crossed at the right moments that was just a happy accident wasn’t it? Kept her alive and spared him from the loathing and bloodshed.
“Well that’s silly, I worry when I want to worry.” It wasn’t as if she felt herself a worry wort by any means but she was protective. A trait the two shared which could also cause a bumping of heads, two immovable forces. “A few things? You mean the missing, if I didn’t know you so well I would ask if you knew anything personally about that.” The idea he was reverting back to old ways seemed silly so she wasn’t even entertaining the idea. “Aw, are you making sure I’m not stuffed in a white van and taken off?” She pouted a little at him but broke into a smile, it was endearing to know someone outside of familiar ties cared. “I am safe, haven’t personally known any of the missing thankfully.”
-
“See, I knew you just wanted to make my life complicated. I called it.” he added in a playful tone. Something that only she was able to elicit from him; It sometimes surprised him that they had come this far. He remembered the nights he had envisioned how he would get rid of her, and now he couldn’t help but feel the need to have her close to him - or in simpler terms, alive. As she reached for his arm, he allowed her to take it. “So does this mean you’re not worried right now?” he asked, as if asking her if she feared he’d come after her again. Or the need to come after her again.
They weren’t perfect -- hell, he wasn’t perfect, but he’d have been completely lost if it weren’t for her. Her comment, albeit teasing as it may have been only caused him to look at her, brows furrowed. “You know I wouldn’t.” he left that long ago, but could it mean that there could be someone like him? If that was the case, they could be on the list. Once again his brow furrowed at the thought of someone pushing her into a van. “No, that wouldn’t sit right with me, because knowing you, you’d have their heads in your hand before they could even touch you.” he meant to tease back, but oddly enough he could see her doing just that. Still, the thought worried him that they could be next, that she could be next. “Okay, good.” he gave her hand a soft pat with his free hand, allowing his fingers to linger a bit longer before dropping his hand back to his side. “Would you ever come to me if you knew you were in trouble or if you knew who could be behind this?” he asked. Perhaps they could put a stop to it? Was it silly to think so?
“Its the tulips you came to see hmm?” She nods her head at him somehow doubting that, ulterior motive seemed more his style. But if that was the story he wanted to go with who was she to say otherwise. “Though you’re a little lost if its tulips you’re headed to, they’re in the other direction.” She points out with a smile leaning on the handrail that separated the plants from the visitors walking by. “You haven’t been a bother in some time, Zave.” Not that it was always so but people grew and that was something that she counted on where Xavier was concerned. “I was actually just taking a walk before heading home myself. Wanna join me?”
-
“Oh yes, the pretty tulips.” he agreed, although the only two lips he was trying not to focus on were her own. Again, he blamed the history the two had and sometimes he had to remind himself this isn’t what they were going to do for the rest of their immortal lives. Look for a happily ever after - there wasn’t one for them. Her words interrupted his train of thoughts as he raised a brow in question and then turned to look at the direction she was referring to. “You changed the location because I do not remember them being that far down at all.” he commented before looking back at her. He smiled at her statement, a thought crossing his mind in that moment, a thought he did not want to share just yet. “Been keeping busy, keepin’ out of trouble. Didn’t want to worry you for anything.” he added sincerely. “A walk sounds good. Maybe we can talk about a few things happenin’ around here. I’ve been hearing about some stuff and I just want to make sure you’re doing okay.” It was ironic really, how she was someone he had once wanted to kill. And now things had changed; Whether they were for the best or the worst, he wasn’t sure. Xavier just knew he would never want anything to happen to her.
Location: Conservatory of Flowers
When: Evening, (open to anyone)
The conservatory was usually filled with people during the day and she could certainly understand why, seeing the plant life and flowers through the windows of bright sunlight was always a breathtaking sight to be sure but Rikki was looking forward to seeing some sights that could only be seen during the night. On and off she had been going to check on the blooms, she was used to having the time on her own so when another set of footsteps caught her attention the familiar couldn’t help but put up her guard. “Late night stroll is it?” Taking a step back she couldn’t help but think about the missing around the city.
Working at a bar came with its perks - you know from flirting with whoever, whenever or free drinks. Another perk would be to know what was happening around town. News of the missing went around fast in the city, and who could blame the people? Worry, fear -- all of that came with it. Which is why Xavier found himself at the Conservatory. He didn’t have to try to make himself known, he was sure she’d hear him coming a mile away. “You can say that, or maybe I wanted to see my favorite batch of tulips this crips evening.” he added with a light smirk right before coming into view. “Hope i’m not being a bother.” Not that it mattered; given their history, he knew she’d make time for him.
--quick note before i delete this post but how does anyone paste gifs onto tumblr anymore? (sorry i’ve been rp’ing on discord for the past year now so i feel new here)
