@measurelessgarden
the inevitable conclusion
So 2016 is SO bad that it made the creator of this meme give us an alternative version of âThis is Fineâ.Â
2016? PSSHHHHH
God remember when we thought 2016 was the worst yearâŠ.
2020 is a direct result of what happened in 2016. A lot of us saw something like this coming as we saw that year unfold. Yes, 2016 was a terrible year. It was, in fact, the worst. Because actions taken that year led us to where we are now. This year wasnât inevitable. Neither was 2016. Almost all of the problems weâre facing right now are man made. Stop looking back fondly on the frying pan and focus on getting out of the fire.
so a racist got utterly demolished in less than 30 seconds on the New Zealand morning news on Monday and itâs one of the most beautiful things Iâve ever seen
who knew a white guy could be capable of such an iconic response, he knows whatâs up and is having none of that shit, every other white guy take notes tbh
I love that he said Pakeha
Can someone write what its being said in this?
Male co-host: We have had a whole heap of feedback regarding Te Tai Tokerau MP Kelvin Davisâs proposal to institute a prison run on MÄori values into New Zealand. Heâs looking at potentially establishing this prison up north. It isnât Labour policy just yet, itâs just an idea of Kelvin Davisâs. And this has been really really divisive on our Facebook page this morning. (sarcastically) Here I think we have the single greatest email, the single greatest message we have ever had on breakfast.
(clears throat deliberately) ââJaniceâ says: Good morning. Iâm sick of hearing that MÄori need different treatment. If they donât want to live in our society, then maybe we should put them all on an island and leave them to it.â
Male co-host: âJanice. That is LITERALLY what happened! That is the history of our country. Last I checked, MÄori WERE on an island, they were left to it, and then PÄkehÄ (MÄori term for white New Zealanders) turned up and look how that worked out. But thank you very much for that brilliant insight. Goodness me. Unbelievable. Unbelievable, they actually-â
Female co-host: âActually, you canât even get angry, you just actually need to laugh and then screw it up and put it under the desk. Just when you thought-â
Male co-host: (mimicking letter) ââPut them all on an island, leave them to it.â Yeah. What a great idea that is Janice.
I really need âWhat a great idea that is, Janice.â to be a meme filled with those stupid complete cognitive dissonance bigoted statements.
Janice is clearly Karenâs Kiwi Cousin.
No oneâs saying this so I guess Iâve gotta: no more shirtless scenes for men if the actors gotta starve himself. Its just as bad as woman being forced to lose weight for a needless sex scene/photoshoot what have you. If it endangers the health of the individual it should not be encouraged.
If they can cg a whole-ass Carrie Fisher, they can cg some ab definition.
Fck steroids. Fck filming fasts. Fck dropping water weight to get the shot.
Fuck steroids. Fuck filming fasts. Fuck dropping water weight to get the shot.
Nope. No cgi abs either. You will look at real healthy shirtless bodies of nourished, hydrated people, and you will like it.
Yeah--either just show what a healthy body looks like or do away with pointless sexy scenes entirelu
Is it feminist or was there just like⊠a woman in itÂ
did she actually have internal motivation and agency or was she just likeâŠ.strong
Was it actually girl power or was it justâŠa girl in a position of power?
Was she actually being a badass female character or was she just abusing moc?
Did her actions have an influence on the plot or did she just like, talk about how amazing she allegedly is
was she actually written as strong or was she just, like, written as an asshole?
This? An utterly scorching take.
âWhy donât you just give in? No one will care.â
âI will.â
It's a record. So when those of the next generations claim "people didn't know any better. It's just how it was. It was normal" our descendants can point to what we leave as proof that accepting the status quo is never a given.
^^^ THIS
It also boosts other people who are speaking out as well. Letting people who are affected by this crap know that theyâre not alone.
The onion isnt even in the vicinity of fucking around
I really wondered what parody like The Onion would do when Trump took over and reality went sideways, but I gotta say I am filled with respect for them, for they have shown themselves not only masters of their craft but theyâre leaning heavy into the waves to do actual news. Theyâre not only finding ways to highlight the warps in front of us, theyâre taking those warps apart.Â

Me, chewing on my Bad Decisionsâą Bagel in the corner:
The Universe: Whatâs that in your mouth?
Me, chewing faster:
The Universe: I said, WHAT THE FUCK IS IN YOUR MOUTH
This was already amazing. But that reblog comment and the extra they hid in the tags (for some unfathomable reason) makes this fucking hilarious and I love it even more. XD
The Universe: WHERE DID YOU FIND ANOTHER SWEET POTATO?!
this is the whitest and most tone-deaf take iâve read yet. itâs the most marginalized among us who have been harmed by both biden and harris directly. itâs marginalized ppl who are begging for an end to electoralism and the âlesser evilâ rhetoric bc there isnât a lesser evil for us. we lose no matter what.
like fuck just say you donât consider black folks and trans women people worth caring about at this point. yâall are so fucking transparent.
That take^ is also very tone-deaf because the reality is the state of politics in this country has left us with the âlesser evilâ rhetoric and itâs not going to change in the next three months. The electoral college will likely not be going anywhere before this election.
It damn sure wonât change if Trump is in office for the next 4 years. In which black and brown and trans folk wonât even be invited to the table. If the final decision comes down to an openly racist, near dictatorship, in which the government doesnât even acknowledge the laws and constitutional rightsâŠWhat the fuck are we supposed to do then?
That analogy has it right. Not because Black and Trans folks should be shamed into voting, but because a decision will be made whether they vote or not. Voting is literally the only thing we have, outside of protesting, to voice our demands of this system. That is reality. Why protest for 3 fucking months just to allow the current enemy to win by default???
By all means, letâs continue to advocate for the end the electoral college and letâs continue to call Biden and Harris for their bullshit, but letâs do so while Trump isnât in fucking office because, whether we like it or not, we WILL have a president. Letâs not allow it to be fucking Donald Trump again đ
Go fucking vote.
for real tho the biggest thing everybody needs to remember these days is that we are not looking at biden in a vacuum. we only have two options to choose from, one which is a step in the right direction while still far from perfect and one which is actively sprinting toward the âkill all minoritiesâ end as fast as they fucking can. and speaking as a trans person: yes there fucking IS a lesser evil for us, asshole. if you canât tell the difference between the two possible outcomes of this election, you are not at all qualified to try to speak for us.
Saw a post where someone made fun of another persons atypical way of typing and when they were then told that the person in question type like that because of a disability, they went âhow was I supposed to just know that?â - and in case anyone wasnât aware the answer to that kind of fuckery is:Â
âYouâre not supposed to know that, youâre just supposed to not make fun of anyoneâs harmless differences regardless of whether theyâre disabled or not. Youâre not supposed to be able to tell âweirdâ abled neurotypicals and disabled/mentally ill people apart, youâre just supposed to treat people with respect generally speaking. Itâs not that hard. âI didnât know they were disabledâ is just not the excuse you think it is cause youâre not supposed to make fun of anyone for completely harmless differences regardless of whether said differences are related to a disability or not.
Hi! I love your Wayward Children series, and I especially love Kade - I'm transmasc, and seeing Kade's story of transitioning in adolescence made me really happy. One thing I noticed was that in Beneath the Sugar Sky, the group is traveling for a few days without rest, which Kade wouldn't realistically be able to do. In this case, I like the idea that Confection's Nonsense timeline allows Kade to bind for much longer periods of time. (1/2)
âHowever, I think it would be really cool to see this becoming another obstacle for him on quests in future books. Thank you for reading this really long message, and I love your books! (2/2)â
I have known trans masculine people who could travel for a few days without rest during camping trips/SCA maneuvers, and while no experience is universal, I do consult with sensitivity readers before making any hard decisions about what Kade can or canât do. I also posit that nothing in that book is realistic, including the fact that every single character doesnât walk away from falling into a sea of soda with a raging yeast infection.
Thank you for reading!
my bio prof: which parasite caused the potato famine?
the tiny desperate tired voice in my head: donât say the english, itâs correct, but donât say it
This is a common misconception! As the English usually kill their host, weâre actually parasitoids not true parasites!
now this is a correction iâll stand for
You lot see a woman dating a camp or "effeminate" man and go "haha does she know she's a beard" as if bi men don't exist and don't have cause to subvert gender norms/have a complicated relationship with masculinity, regardless of who they're dating.
Thereâs also this implication that these women who date âeffeminateâ men canât be genuinely attracted to them and are naive and oblivious towards their effeminacy. It a complete refusal to acknowledge that not only do gnc bi men exist, but women can be and are actually attracted to them. There doesnât have to be settling or smoke screens in the relationship for it to work.
The "opposite" is also true! You see men dating "masculine" or butch women and people be like "lmao we know who wears the pants in that relationship" like Let women date "feminine" men and let men date "masculine" women. It's none of your business. Leave them alone. No one's lying to anyone.
Both of the points are so *chef kiss* perfecto. Thank you!
Also straight people absolutely can be gender non-conforming. We really need to normalize that gender non-conformity isnât just for same gender attracted people, nobody of any sexuality has to adhere to any gender norms. Gender non-conformity is for everybody.
Sexuality and gender expression are two separate things.
A lot of people are genuinely terrified about what will happen if Donald Trump wins reelection and it's really weird how some of y'all are acting like everyone begging you to vote for Biden is some privileged, rich, out of touch, neo-liberal when a lot of them are just vulnerable people who don't want to like...die in a brutal civil war or watch all their remaining rights get stripped away by an increasingly authoritarian Republican Party.
I do not know how to express to you how much worse it can get.
NonAmerican perspective here, but like....... do some of you really not see how bad it already is? Look back at 2016 and picture what you thought Trump's America would look like, four years into the future.
Did the 2020 that you predicted back in 2016 look like 197 thousand Americans dead of a virus that your leader deliberately downplayed the severity of for months? Did it look like your entire eastern coast in flames, the air across half the country unbreathable, the skies a hazy orange from the smoke and the glow of the fires, and your president saying "climate change has nothing to do with this"? Did it look like over two thousand missing children, who were taken from their parents by "the authorities" and then lost by those same authorities? Two thousand children in the care of a government agency have gone missing, and has your bossman even commented on it, or has he just continued extolling the dangers of immigrants?
Did the 2020 you imagined look like months of civil unrest, because police murdered yet another black man, and instead of condemning the act, your leader said "the answer to this problem is worse police violence, and to beat the protestors into submission."
Like, fuck me. Do you not see how bad it already is? This is what's happened under Trump in four years, and some of you are really out there going "hm yeah but Biden has weak policies tho." Would Biden take a global pandemic seriously? I suspect he would. Would Biden be open to working to stop climate change? He's already said loads about what he'll do to combat climate change. Would Biden completely fail to address the fact that women are being forcibly sterilised in ICE and children are being assaulted and going missing? I would be really surprised if he did nothing about that. Would Biden react to public outrage over cops murdering a civilian by sending in the national guard to attack peaceful protesters, assault journalists, permanently blind innocent civilians, and pepperspray children in the face? I really doubt it.
But Trump has done all that shit; is still actively doing all that shit, right at this very fucking moment. And some of you won't vote for Biden because you're not really a fan of his????
"Oh, Biden's too moderate for me" BIDEN IS TOO MODERATE, SO YOULL GO WITH DONALD "THERES NO VIRUS," "ITS BECAUSE THEY DIDNT MANAGE THE FORESTS WELL ENOUGH," "IMMIGRANTS ARE CRIMINALS," "SEND IN THE TROOPS" TRUMP INSTEAD?? You wanna let that guy win by default, to get another four fucking years, when he's already done this much damage?? WHAT THE FUCK, GUYS
I know itâs kind of suggesting it but this is exactly why businessmen (people) should not be politicians. Running a country is to benefit the people running a business is to benefit shareholders. Their âskillsâ are not interchangeable
Seriously, the most useless people in every leftist activist group are the ones who refuse to see progress as, well, progress, and instead are obsessed with the idea of fomenting Revolution on a truly massive scale, because âthatâs the only way things will ever truly change.â Not that theyâre actually going out and trying to START that revolution ever, mind you. Theyâll just keep telling you that thatâs the only real solution, and until that happens, until they can get their absolutely perfect outcome, theyâll just sit on their asses and tell the rest of us that what weâre doing is useless. Which is bullshit, of course.
This is closely tied to the, âI wonât vote until the perfect unicorn candidate appears on the ballot, which means in practice that I just never voteâ mindset, which is equally pointless and even more damaging.
I was once told, âDonât throw out the good in favour of the perfectâ and I think that can apply here. Like, I can reduce my own carbon footprint for whatever that may be worth while also fighting to hold massive corporations accountable for destroying the earthâs many ecosystems in order to earn more money than Iâll ever see in my lifetime.
