Tyranids - 2-1
Zephon
A massive tropical planet that is covered in a near global spanning jungle. Zephon is Tennin’s second largest planet in terms of shear size, and the largest planet by a wide margin in terms of landmass. The jungles of Zephon are filled with massive apex predators that prey on the other forms of wildlife found in the jungle and routinely attempt to scale the settlement walls to get at the citizens on the other side. Even tough these massive beasts are the most dangerous things on Zephon even the smaller organisms that they feed on are lethal to humans and patrols go missing every day after falling victim to one of the many species that prey on people. On the smaller scale are also several species of insects that will sting or bite a man to death to defend their territory, or even consume a man whole, his flesh being stripped from his bones beneath a cloud of bugs. In addition to the hostile fauna there are a staggeringly large number of plant species that are also carnivorous; some even able to swallow a man whole including a now infamous species of acid filled pitcher plant that grow in the ground where a man can step into them accidentally. Both the flora and fauna of Zephon are extremely hardy and it requires daily maintenance to keep these forces out of the settled zones. In fact the species of Zephon are so adoptable that there are a handful of them that have changed to feed exclusively off humans in the relatively short time they have been on the planet.
Maalik
Being so close to the system’s star, Maalik is a near molten planet with little to no value. Though there are no civilian settlements on Maalik it can boast a small and extremely sparse military presence on account of the outposts that dot the few pieces of solid earth available. Though it is expensive to maintain any form of operation here it is considered valuable for the planet’s ability to hide heat and radiation signals, masking them in the planet’s natural functions. The only other human presence on the planet are some poorly maintained prison facilities, and it is rumoured that some wealthy criminal kingpins have hideouts hidden in the fires and flames keeping all unwanted attention away. Even accounting for unverified hideouts the total population of the planet is under a few thousand.
Current Condition – Because it has no natural resources, and traffic to and from the planet is well hidden, Maalik is the only planet in the Tennin System that Varanus has not taken an interest in. For this reason several top military individuals, some planetary governors, as well as the system governor have been moved to Maalik to coordinate Tennin’s resistance against the Hive Fleet invasion.
Lailah
A planet tidally locked with the system's sun making the night side extremely cold and indefinitely covered in ice and snow while the side facing the sun is too hot for life to form. Around the planet’s vertical equator where the temperatures are prime for settling, however, large cities have sprung up. The band around the planet that forms the habitable zone starts on the far side of the planet in the mountains were sun light can reach and give a little warmth, descends down into a very humid jungle which makes up most of the habitable zone, and ends in a desert that is closest to the side of the planet facing the system’s sun. The desert is cause for concern for more than a few settlers as it is growing slowly as the planet continues its slow advance towards to system’s star. Though a few parts of this desert and the mountains on the other side of the jungle are livable almost all of the planets population is found inside the planet’s thick jungle canopies. Unless you are living in the desert closer to the sun, or in the snowy portion of the habitable zone where it is markedly darker, most citizens live in a constant state of evening twilight as the planet does not allow for normal day/night cycles.
Kiraman Katibin
Medium, Eta World
A high-military world where the war rooms, offices of generals, and especially record halls are kept under the safe watch of heavy turrets. Being the Capital planet in the Tennin System it can boast being both the most population dense on account of massive migration to the planet for work, and because of the massive number of troops and military operations stationed there, also the best defended next to Camael where the majority of the system’s weapons are manufactured. All matters of exploration, development, or military conduct within the Tennin System first have to pass through the halls of Kiraman Katibin and it is the seat of military strategy in the area of space. Most citizens consider it to be the holiest planet in the system as there are several cathedrals dedicated to the Imperial Cult, and it is often the destination of religious pilgrimages by the devout.
Harut and Marut
Medium, Gamma Worlds
When the twin planets of Harut and Marut were first found they were considered too dangerous to settle, as it was thought that they would cash into each other due to their close proximity. After careful observation however, it was revealed that they share a stable orbit around each other and it is theorised that they may be able to retain a stable orbit indefinitely. After this discovery efforts to ascertain how liveable the planets are went under way and found that both could be inhabited with some minor environmental modification. Because neither planet is totally suitable for colonisation the population of the planets is growing slowly, but between the two of them they can sustain a population of several billion citizens.
Dumah
Medium, Eta World
A savagely war torn planet that used to flourish until an invasion from Chaos legions decimated the population and environment during the War of the Rot. Despite the almost complete loss of the planet, it still has personnel ranging from civilians to high ranking military officials and an intensive reconstruction and rearming operations as well as ongoing purging is under way. Dumah used to be the second most populated planet in the Tennin System, however after the war was ended it was estimated it’s living population was cut nearly in half. Because the system suffers from a population crisis thousands of refugees are brought from other planets to Dumah as soon as space is cleansed of its Chaos infection.
Camael
Large, Phi World
An industrial war world with huge factories and barracks that cling to cliff sides in the rain. Camael is the Tennin System’s primary manufacturing planet and the vast majority of arms and armour that the system uses comes from this planet alone. In addition to it’s weapons and heavy armour manufacturing capabilities Camael is also home to the largest garrison in the system; larger than even Kiraman Katibin’s standing force. The army present on Camael is responsible for responding en masse to emergencies through out the system and are largely to be thanked for the repulsion of the Nurgle invasion that came into the Tennin System and decimated Dumah during the War of the Rot.
Arariel
Very Large, Alpha World
A large very oceanic planet that is the system’s primary source of food through the floating ocean fisheries dotted all over the planet. The global ocean that covers the entire surface of the planet is too deep in most places to allow the proper formation of continents. Because of this gigantic vertical cities tower over what small islands are able to form, making as much use of the small landmass available as possible. Floating cities have been built to accommodate the growing numbers of workers coming to the planet to work as fishermen. Recently the inhabitants have been experimenting with building their cities under the water to make room for more people as well as avoid the harsh life of weathering the sea storms on the surface.
Ambriel
Small, Rho World
A small, cold and naturally barren world; Ambriel was originally only inhabited for it’s remoteness from the rest of the system. Massive prisons to hold the Tennin system’s undesirables as well as corporate quarantine zones were built scattered across the planet and carved into its dense rock. Since the discovery and habitation of Maalik however, all of the prisoners have been moved to the fiery world and the old prison buildings have been retrofitted for research or rented out to corporations who want to conduct their trials with little outside interference. Ambriel is currently home to the system’s largest and most powerful deep-space sensor array designed to look deep into space and detect incoming threats as well as detect new and unspoiled worlds.
The Tennin System
The Tennin System is a solar system consisting of ten planets currently under the control of the Imperium of Man. Most planets in the system are habitable; the most noteworthy of them are Kiraman Katibin, Camale, and Zephon. The system has raids from Chaos forces on a consistent basis and has recently been the staging ground for a new Hive Fleet: Varanus.
