pokopia tutorial sequence
I think a big part of the reason Pokopia is hitting so hard for so many people is that we have had an absolute glut of post apocalyptic media that take the "humans are the monsters/disease/problem" angle. Even the most well meaning solar-punk I can think of often have this undercurrent of 'humanity's nature is inherently short sighted and exploitive and they must constantly be kept in check to protect the environment' which slides very quickly into 'the world would be better off without humans in it to complicate and threaten things'.
But Pokopia fully does not do that. The world is lonely without humans and lesser for humanity's absence. So much of the game is about how Pokemon miss humans and are struggling to make sense of a world without us, how the ecosystem is just as hurt by our absence as any other species, and how the things we left behind, even in ruins and burned shells, are often beautiful and strange and helpful to the Pokemon who find them.
Pokemon have always been this allegory for the natural world- back to the original idea of the games inspired by children who caught bugs and kept ant farms- and thus the relationship between Pokemon and humans becomes this allegory for the relationship between nature and humans. And Pokopia looks you dead in the eye and says "the world would be poorer without humans, and if we all vanished tomorrow the echoes of who we are and the things we did would still ring out for eons uncountable. We would be missed and mourned and searched for and the wound of our absence would be deeply felt on this earth for the rest of its turning. The actions of a few greedy short sighted humans will never change that."
And that. That hits.
Me, pointing to the mirror: Do NOT become The Joker about this. This isnāt even a Condiment Man situation.
The way he's holding them here makes me feel conflicted. Like, this scene is terrifying and I can't imagine what's it like to be on a receiving end of it but... just look at it.
- he's holding Zooble in a way so that their parts don't fall out
- he's not squeezing Gangle so that her fragile ribbons don't get tangled
- he's not putting too much pressure on Ragatha so that she doesn't get ripped apart
- he's only holding Pomni and Jax firmly because their bodies are solid and rubbery
And this scene is right after the torture too. You would think he would be more violent, but no. He wanted to hurt them, not break them.
Caine wanted them to listen. And because they never did, he made them feel what he felt when they poked at his biggest fears and insecurities.
I guess what I meant to say is - even when at his worst, there was still something considerate in him. Something resembling the real him and not the angry monster he'd become.
didn't see anyone else make this yet so here you go
So..I had a thought.
What if AZ was racing against a clock he couldnāt see? What if instead of being immortal, he and Floette shared the collective energy that wouldāve driven the lifespans of every Pokemon used when Floette was revived?
Some of them are long lived, but others arenāt. Because of the longer lived ones, he simply concluded that he was immortal and assumed he had forever. To search and to suffer.
What if, had anything gone different, had he evaded Lysandre longer, had he missed the parade..
He wouldnāt have ever reunited with Floette again? What if he hadnāt found her until 3,005 years instead, only to die with her in his withered arms?
His final breath a sob as he finally finds his beloved friend, only to close his eyes for the very last time?
ā¦yall can shoot me I deserve it-
i do not "get good," i do not "keep practicing," i do not "take a break," i do not "level up," i CRASH OUT. and if i don't beat the boss first try with an absolutely terrible strategy then i KILL MYSELF
I heard you throw mud at frienzied alphas to calm them down. Is this true?
Part 1 here
I want to get more into perspective, and Epic Frenzied Alpha Ingo seemed the appropriate target
