Can we talk about how beautiful the generation 3 Monster High dolls are?! Like hello?? So much thought was put into them and I couldn’t be happier for the next generation of Monster High fans.
First of all, Frankie being non-binary AND disabled was a big move, and that representation is much needed. The doodles on her prosthetic add so much to their character, in my opinion. And common. Watzie looks like an electric type Pokémon. What’s not to love about that?
Second, I would have killed to have a doll with the body type they assigned to Dracula’s doll when I was younger. All of my Barbies and the OG monster high dolls had the same body type. Having a toy that looked like me would have given me SUCH a confidence boost. I struggled with my image a lot, and those issues began when (but not BECAUSE) the first wave Monster High dolls were released. On top of that, her alternative vibes just make me happy, okay?
Third, I know there were a lot of changes made to Lagoona and Clawdeen, but keeping in mind they are FOR the next generation, their style choices are actually pretty cool when you stop comparing them to the old dolls. Clawdeen has always had a fierce sense of fashion, and they definitely kept that in mind making her third generation doll. Now, I’ll admit, it took me a while to come around to Lagoona’s new look, but it definitely grew on me. I think the pink skin is actually pretty cool. And her color scheme definitely reads low key hippie. “I’m chill with everybody, brah,” as she said in her OG diary. I actually really dig it now.
The OG dolls will absolutely always be some of my favorites. The original ghouls walked so G-3 could run, and I am living for it!
