Julia Stiles as Kat Stratford 10 Things I Hate About You (1999) | dir. Gil Junger
The older i get the more i understand why some people become obsessed with privacy, not because they’re hiding something, but because being constantly perceived starts to feel spiritually exhausting.
difference between clark’s parents’ expectations for him and kara’s parents’ expectations for her versus how they actually turned out is very funny i think. imagine meeting your son who you sent off to be a god with a huge harem on another planet and he’s like the nicest most helpful innocent man ever and he works a minimum wage job and has his entire identity hidden so he can be a normal guy just like everyone else and he has 1 situationship who he’s lowkey fumbling. so you look over to see how your niece (who was sent to earth with no instructions other than to be good) is doing and turns out she’s not even on earth she’s pub crawling from planet to planet ignoring her responsibilities and being an asshole in her free time and instead of helping and working together with your son she just keeps hanging up on him
I'm not really a HanLuke shipper but I can imagine them hooking up early in their friendship & then Han later after various revelations having a personal crisis over whether or not it's weird to have sex with both halves of a set of twins
& like he can't ask anyone if it's weird without admitting that he's already done it. he could talk to Luke about it bcos obviously Luke already knows but he's kind of avoiding the subject with Luke in case drawing attention to the fact that he's dating Luke's sister prompts a shovel talk. he's pretty sure Luke can kill people with his brain now and he doesn't want to have that particular shovel talk if he an avoid it.
If Han came to me with this kind of question, I would be very supportive and make sure he didn't uncomfortable about having to ask the question because most of all this is about his feelings.
However, I would also desperately need to know if Luke used the force on that thang, and Han also knows I would ask, which is why he never brings these problems to me.
"we detected a mature post" yeah I'm in my 30s
MAWS Season 4 Letter Campaign
Since we still don't know if the writers of MAWS will get to finish their story I was thinking maybe we could as a fandom write letters to James Gunn to tell him how much the show means to us all and ask him not to cancel. (nicely, this is a 'honey catches more flies than vinegar" situation. I'm frustrated too, but being mean about it has never helped this sort of thing)
Like yes it is old fashioned, but it feels a lot better than just doing nothing and being heartbroken. And it might work.
I mean if someone got a whole bunch of letters in this day and age it might get them to pay attention.
Plus! Firefly was cancelled and it's getting an animated series after 24 years. So it's possible.
And heck. I am willing to make a letter formula and/or share my own letter if that would help.
Hexagon Quilt
This is the second time I've seen a video of this technique and this explanation is so clear! It does use more fabric than English paper piecing (EPP) but you end up with a double sided hexagon so don't have to source fabric for the backing.
I'm doing EPP at the moment but I have a hole punch to make the papers and just use leaflets and junk mail, so it doesn't feel wasteful. I don't think it's difficult either- in the video she mentions it's not for beginners, but I don't have that much experience with hand sewing or EPP and I've been finding it pretty easy so YMMV
I saw this video yesterday and was seized with the need to try it out immediately. Lookit my cute lil' hexagon baby!!
Here is what the backside looks like. OP notes this takes more fabric than paper piecing, but that excess fabric makes it already triple-layered. Besides not needing backing fabric, I don't think you'd need batting for this quilt at all. It's already thick and soft just from folding all that fabric into a hexagon.
so much could have been improved in the sequels if kylo ren hadn’t been force sensitive
no wait think about it. kylo ren not being force sensitive, but so desperate to be so he’s willing to do anything. he feels cheated out of his grand destiny, his powers that his mother and uncle (and cousin?) have. give me the story on the entitlement towards the force. it would have shown that the force is beyond biological, it always has been. it would have given a better reason for kylo ren to “fall to the dark side”, so desperate for a connection to the force that he plays the part of a dark sider, swinging a cracking red lightsaber around with no finesse or training, killing hoping that it will push him further into a dark side of the force he cannot feel. it would have given a reason for him to hate han; that because han isn’t force sensitive, it’s his fault that kylo isn’t either. kylo’s character would have been stronger because his choices would have been his own, instead of whatever whisper dream manipulations they were in canon. his evil has nothing to do with the force, but an entitled man trying to claim a power he believes is his by birthright.
this would have foiled perfectly with finn, too- one is a child born to the most powerful force sensitives in the galaxy who cannot feel the force. and finn is a child who was taken from his family, forced into soldier-hood, who feels such a deep and powerful connection to himself and the force that he breaks free. kylo ren, seething and entitled trying to claim a destiny and power that just aren’t his, and finn, who has suffered at kylo’s actions and still connected to the powerful light inside of him. the “nobody” hero of the sequels who has the power of the force and the legacy-born villain who doesn’t.

Fandom: The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel
Pairing: Midge x Lenny / Midge Maisel x Lenny Bruce
“See you around, Midge. I mean that as a promise.”
With his words, her promise was already made.
He had brought her back from the brink, saved her from a thousand fates that were sure to have condemned her. He made her fantasies come true, and then some. In the space of hours he had unlocked every part of her, brought things she had kept hidden in the dark out into the light, revealed to her aspects that weren't new but waiting instead, patiently, for the one who understood her, body and mind, heart and soul.

as humiliating as it is to repost myself from a light-mode-user's reddit screenshot, i cannot allow this year's zenquish to go uncelebrated.
celebrate my favorite holiday with me, my friends.
if the emperors of rome can add extra months that actually fuck the calendar up i'm allowed to add a new month that lasts 0.0000 picoseconds
the last holiday that hasn't been commercialized
i made this up when i was a little kid and nothing would make me happier than to see people celebrating it for years to come
zenquish approaches. prepare to rejoice! briefly!
While Eva is a dutch first name, Stratt isn't a Dutch last name.
I hereby present reasons for Eva Stratt to be named that
1. Andy Weir did his research bad (boooring)
2. Stratt has a German dad and a Dutch mom but lives in the Netherlands (plausible)
3. Grace misheard Stratt say 'I'm Deutsch' and assumed she was Dutch (funny as hell and very in character)
