Smoking update

Since my last post I have been smoking 3 cigarettes a day. Today I have had 2. Feeling positive about this. I think.

Hello there…

It’s been a while hasn’t it. I can’t remember the last time I just poured out my soul into a text box on tumblr. But here goes.

I can’t remember if I told you or not but my mum passed away in June 2013 from lung cancer. I struggled at first I thought I’d never feel like myself again it was really only towards the end of last year (2014) where I began to feel more optimistic about life and where it was headed.

Last Sunday my nan passed away after a short illness. It turns out that she had lung cancer too. She smoked until she was 60 but had been quit for the last 20 years or so. Nobody knew about it. I’m not sure even if she knew. I’m deeply saddened by her death as it’s not just her, it brings too many memories back of my poor mum.

Scary as it is the two most important women in my life dying from lung cancer I found out that every member of our family that has died so far has died from lung cancer. THAT IS FUCKING SCARY! I think it’s 5 or 6 of them. FUCK.

So it’s time to stop. I’ve gone from 20 cigs to 5 in a matter of days. I hope to be even less within the next coming days. I’m planning on seeing my gp as soon as I get back to uni to see what they say but at the moment things are up in the air as I’m at home without my usual comforts. It might turn out that I can go cold turkey (I doubt it) but you never know.

I’m going to try and keep a log of my journey on here but I’m very forgetful, but at this moment in time it feels like the right thing to do.

Please help me in any way you can. Just a kind word here and there will help tremendously.
